Even the Kravin hideouts side quests ended with Chamelion being teased. All those side quests were kind of incomplete because they didn't had any proper ending to them. It felt like these stories will be further explained in future DLCs. Now as there is no DLC, the game now hardly provide 20Hrs of gameplay, while the PS4 Spider-Man provided around 40-50 hrs.
Even worse, now all those storylines need to be solved in Spider-Man 3, so as of now we have Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Carnage and Chameleon. I can see Chameleon having his own side mission story line, but how do you solve Goblin, Ock and Carnage in one game without buildup?. As of now Cletus and Norman are still regular people, so the next game will have to do their whole storyline. If you include Miles and maybe Cindy, SM3 has to be at least a 40 hours game for all that.
I think youre confusing cliffhanger with set up. Its a big world, lots of characters. Hinting at future stuff happening doesnt mean the stories in the game didnt have an ending. I would still like to see them, but I dont think its a "major problem".

Spider-Man 2 was a solid 7/10. It doesn't have much replayability as in one playthrough I was able to 100% it. I had 1 or 2 trophies left after beating the game but still same day I beat it I also got the platinum.
@@Gerry484 I stopped playing the first game during one of those missions. I’ll never go back and finish it. Same with spider man 2. I could t finish that game either. The writing isn’t even good for those games. The only good thing is the animations and graphics.
No dlc literally brings the game down a letter grade for me. So many side missions had unsatisfying conclusions just for the sake of teasing dlc. But now that dlc isn’t even gonna happen? Or we’re gonna have to wait for the next game? The side missions were bad enough being typical ubisoft open world side missions but this just made them even worse. That brought the game from a 7/10 to a 6/10 in my book.
The dlc was also "Leaked" through a bug in-game in which players could open a developer menu that revealed the dlc details so at some point there was a fair amount of development on these dlcs (at least planning in-game with multiple missions in each, not just one). Interesting that they'd just cancelling it altogether. I guess carnage will now be shoehorned into Spiderman 3 instead? Feels like he wont get nearly enough relevance if it's just another side mission
Tbh, I'm surprised so many people were upset at this. I completely forgot about sm2 after I finished it and wasn't expecting anything else from it, I didn't even know they were still releasing outfits after the release lol.
Honestly wasting Carnage as a DLC Boss with just one Mission would have been a disgrace to this villain. The guy deserves at the very least a Side Villain Role in the upcoming SM3 OR A Main Antagonist in the Upcoming Venom Spinoff (Should it happen) But like as a DLC villain he is far too high tier. Hammerhead in the first game I get it but Carnage deserves a proper stage.
@@johnnybravo5969 They have already set him up in the main game. He has the Symbiote now the next step would be to introduce Carnage Idk honestly what you could set up in a DLC furthermore? @@Kadir-fw7xmwell while explaining myself I totally misunderstood your point. Here's the thing about the Spider-Man 2 dlc that people don't seem to be bringing up for some reason. Before the first game, Spider-Man ps4 came out, dlc was already announced, they already had it in the works and it was in the promos for the game. Spider-Man 2 had no dlc, no mention of it before launch. Insomniac and Sony had already planned on not having dlc before it came out. Even after the game launched and it sold very well, still not much talk about dlc, they teased about doing a venom stand alone game, the director wanted to strut about strong jaw MJ, but no dlc talk. Then the "leak" happened after the devs were extremely quiet about the game. It's pretty obvious when you take into account that they took extra long to even put new game plus in the game with all of 4 suits. Whatever issues they were having with each other or trying to do multiple games at once, the decision to not make dlc was made long before launch.
That’s even worse considering so many stories in this game were left unresolved. I don’t think iv ever been more disappointed in a sequel than this. The only thing they improved was web swinging and it still holds your hand at zero assitance or is just boring. Sony rushing them or not, this game was nothing more than a 6/10
My problem isn't even that, cuz I kinda figured it wasn't gonna happen. But what I hated is that they never just *_came out_* with it. They know exactly what people will hear when they say *"We have no plans to announce DLC at this point."* and it's not *_"We're not releasing DLC for this game."_* And they could've saved themselves the headache if they just said it. Because every time there was a new Event or Con, people would ask them.

I don't even know why they though it would sell more, Spider-man 2018 came at the final stretch of the PS4's life cycle, there were way more PS4's around then, than PS5's today.
If Sony didn’t made Insomniac rush this game, would’ve be a lot better. Better story, refined gameplay mechanics, fixed more bugs, better designed suits *heavy sigh*, and maybe they might’ve been open to bring back the gadget wheel. No dlc content for this game is a disappointment to say the least
So I'm not going to lie. My taste in the 2nd game was soured not only by the ending of the story, but by the fact that NG+ was only added 6 months down its life time. But also, the fact that even completing the ENTIRE game on ultimate mode, 100% everything, you still have to grind freaking police crime alerts to even get the rest of the promised suits! AND THEN they cancel a beetle DLC AND the Carnage DLC after they spent SO many missions setting him up. It makes zero sense why they decided go to with this brain dead take.
What’s wrong with the ending of the story? What even is the point of new game plus when the game gives you the option to replay specific missions at any point without starting a new save. New game plus is actually useless because of that feature. Where’s your evidence that the beetle dlc was even being developed and wasn’t in the conceptual stages? Apparently 4 missions is so many, also they never said carnage was going to be dlc, why not save him for Spider-Man 3?

I can remember how hyped I was after seeing the first trailer. To be honest, at that point I have decided to get a PS5. When the time has come and they dropped gameplay footage, I was hooked. I have ALWAYS loved Spider-Man and their first one and even Miles were incredible. I remember how I could not wait for launch day, it was the first game I have ever pre-ordered and I was so hyped! After playing for a while, playing as Peter on a bicycle, revisiting his college, getting the Black suit, instantly becoming evil, seeing Venom for 20 minutes and not seeing a boss fight that was advertised.. I was baffled. The bugs, the gameplay choices, the lack of vision in storytelling, the evident rush in third act - I have never been so disappointed in a game in my entire life. Yeah, the hack was a bummer, obviously, but canning every DLC is just a clown move.
@@donjohnson7491 you are correct but there is an expectation that comes with $70 open world games that the bare minimum 30hrs of we are talking about a crafted single player experience like resident evil or something to that effect then no it does not but a game like this should be loaded with content
The worst take I've heard in this video was, "starfield didn't sell their dlc well, so that could be a reason why they didn't release dlc for this game." Really, Luke?
My personal theory is that because of the whole cost to make vs profit for a dlc they decided to pivot to the venom game (that was in active development as of 9 months ago) where they can recycle cut content from the main game plus the carnage stuff to make a product more similar to miles morales but with venom. Since let’s be honest what will sell better, $40 for spider-man dlc or $50 for about the same amount of content but with venoms name on it.
That’s a shame. I feel I got much more from the first Spider-Man game. It was even a more challenging game. Miles Morales made things overpowered and stealth didn’t even exist. Spider-Man 2 was short, and the easiest game in the series.
So I'm one of the people who were waiting for PC. There are two things that could have happened and this is pure conjecture. 1. Sony has figured out that a year of timed exclusivity is what they like. And when they release to PC they don't like simultaneous release for their singleplayer games. They want a complete package to "scoop up the left overs" so people don't just go "well I'll buy the game not the DLC." I think it also cuts costs so you aren't testing things at the same time off-development time. So I think Sony could have just said "You're taking too long on the DLC for our PC release. Cancel the DLC" 2. This is more optimistic, but maybe they kept working on the DLC and it kept getting bigger so they were thinking to either do another miles morales spin-off before 3, or just move those DLC quests to the next game.
Honestly with spider verse delayed, and carnage better be left alone for the venom spinoff. I can see canceling the beetle dlc instead of starting to work on other dlcs from scratch. But still sucks
I think we can all agree that Insomniac's Spider-man games will never achieve what the Batman Arkham Series did for us(the superhero genre fans). The Arkham games have better side missions, the open world really makes you feel like you're Batman, the graphics of Arkham Knight are better than any Spider-Man game and the gameplay is more complex(both stealth and combat). What's great about Marvel's Spider-Man games are the traversal system, the combat is fun,the outfits are as great as the ones from Arkham Knight as well as the boss fights are very cinematic(the Arkham Series has some great boss fights but all of Sony's games gives you that movie vibe). For me,a big downgreat is the choice for Peter Parker face model. Sony tried to be closer to Tom Holland version of Spider-Man/Peter Parker and it's just very weird because it doesn't feel like Insomniac original take on Spider-Man.
@@lacatusalex5708 bro I hella agree. Peters face was perfect in the original PS4 game and since then they made him younger to the point where miles looks older. Wtf

I think they'll probably do a carnage storyline in spider man 3 cause that's too good of a concept to just scrap. I can easily imagine fleshed out carnage and green goblin as main villians in SM3. And as for spider verse dlc, well they do have a third movie that will come out couple of years down the line so maybe then they can do it but again the concept of spider verse is great too like I don't know where they'll go from SM3 but I imagine they'll probably take a break and then to differentiate SM iterations further they can easily use spider verse and do spider man 2099 or something where it's futuristic setting and whatnot but yeah i imagine they'll keep doing marvel stuff even though it's expensive as spider man and quality sony marvel games sell many millions of units.
That's disappointing, this game was fucking awesome. I really did want to see a Carnage expansion. I can't see them doing a new game with Carnage as the main villain. They kind of blew their symbiote load on Venom's storyline. But a good length DLC with Carnage going on a rampage across New York would've been epic.
@2:26 funny I had someone on FB tell me "ah dude you cant believe everything you hear on the internet there was no planned dlc" in response to this roadmap haha 😅
City that never sleeps 2. Venom is a playable character working with miles to bring down villians leading up to taking on carnage. That’s what I expected.
The biggest problem is that I don't see carnage having a main villain role in spiderman 3. Maybe in the background or in a venom game. I feel they was setting up cletus having carnage for a bit, losing it in the dlc final boss (with norman acquiring carnage in a dlc end credits) then as a final boss in spiderman 3 we would get either red goblin or monster ock or both then in a end credits scene cletus regaining carnage to set up proper after spiderman 3. Charmeleon, yuri and many other cliffhangers don't help them either unresolved wise.
I remember completing spiderman 2 100% and then the last mission and then like oh thats it wandered around with nothing to do then uninstalled and never played again
Spider-Man 2 is the most I've ever enjoyed a game on the first play through, but it's so much less replayable than the first game was. I don't agree at all with the people who say it is (or was released) unfinished but I think it's really undercooked *especially* without DLC. The main mission is great for two thirds and properly fleshed out then Venom shows up and it's a race to the finish; quite a lot of the side missions feel like they're going somewhere then end on a cliffhanger which presumably in some cases was DLC set-up (Carnage) and others for the third game (Chameleon); and I quite frankly think the complete absence of a post-game for a game like this in 2023 is disgraceful, which DLC obviously would have helped to fix
I still love the game, people saying you didn't get to play enough spiderman is simply untrue, and the bosses were very good and challenging with a parry mechanic that kept you on your toes, mirrioring some of the aspects of dark souls bosses. Kraven's motivation made sense and him finding out Venom is the true ultimate hunt was incredibly done. Also lets not forget the Venom mission and how that led into a homage to Web Of Shadows (although yes a bit short). Call backs to King in Black, the multi phase Venom fight playing as both spidermen having to use different skills for each phase. The Scream fight was amazing, Peter becoming evil was scary and intriguing, the Carnage side quest (although a cliffhanger at the end) the reveal was very well done. Oh, and lets not forget the incredible opening of the game with the Sandman fight, also impressive how his sandstorm had altered the state of New York completely. And I could go on... Why do people become bots and just forget the good stuff?
Yeah, but the original release date for Spider-Verse Part 3 was supposed to be earlier this year. But it hasn’t even begun production. So they missed it because the movie was delayed. That at least would’ve come out if the movie wasn’t delayed to some future date.
I have never EVER changed skins in a single player game. At most I'll look through the menu or see how weird batman looks as the animated series version and immediately change it back
Who knows, maybe they’ll give us “play modes” instead of DLC. Like if there was a Siege mode similar to the original spiderman with Snipers etc on the roof… or a way to randomly enable which crimes you got and from whom and the frequency. This would hopefully include a way to disable symbiote crimes.
This isn’t news for us with brains. DLC for spiderman ps4 was announced before game released Then second the deluxe edition for spiderman 2 came out there were only skins and no mention of DLC The insomniac leaks proved that all the stuff that they were gonna do for DLC is getting switched over to the venom ps5 that’s still happening to release in 2025 Then we get Wolverine in 2026 Then spiderman the final chapter in 2027-2028 I much rather them save carnage for venom game rather than spiderman 2 DLC So that the final chapter (spiderman 3) we not only get green goblin finally…. But red goblin too for the endgame boss
I actually really enjoyed Spider-Man 2 and went for the Platinum trophy (which I never do). They really missed a opportunity with venom either by not making a dlc with him or giving him free roam functionality 😢
I think alot of people would have redownloaded the game & returned to it once the dlc dropped because thats what alot of us have been waiting for. Plus Spiderman is a big popular IP so that would also help bring players back
What's so hard to believe? They spent hundreds of millions on a canceled multi-player that never launched, and the game didn't sell like the first one. Mismanagement leads to overinflated budgets leads to lower profit margins leads to Sony deciding it's not profitable enough for the stockholders given the money that's already been spent. Hence why we're getting a PC port almost a year early compared to other Sony first party games, they need to make more money on what's already been developed and had money thrown at it. A port is a lot cheaper than DLC
@@decegrease Plus they’ve got to work on the Wolverine game and possibly the Venom spin off game that got leaked. Neither of which leave much time for them to support SM2, unfortunately.

i feel like some elements of the dlc would have been hated and moved over to the next game, like i can see a game where carnage is the main villian with bettle being a opening villian to ease people in like sandman. cause right now the king in black storyline is getting the front and centre treatment and it seems like the next super big bad that make sense is Red-Goblin (Carnage norman osbourne mix) so it'll could play out as [intro] Bettle and Co > [act 1] Green goblin and the setup of the life foundation > [act 2] Carnage and his new symbiote escapees Riot, Lasher and Co (- scream) > [act 3] with cleetus beaten and defeated near norman or someway for norman to get the red goo, last fight is Red goblin using the death of harry as a emotional turmoil to bring the fight to the grand finale. Can also have a spider verse point where they have a bunch of younger spider-people kinda like space marine and how they have already teased spiderman working with others where you can introduce Cindy Moon (Silk) sister-like arc story, Spider-Gwen with her new transfer story with her dad transfering taking over the new presinct and either bring back flash or and big reach.... Dylan Brock from the venom verse as either child venom or sleeper with miles being their mentor and training them while often calling and visiting peter for advice especially with the anti vemon suit... good im a good ideas man.

This thread be making californians wet
Carnage will probs be in the venom spinoff game
Tbh, I'm surprised so many people were upset at this. I completely forgot about sm2 after I finished it and wasn't expecting anything else from it, I didn't even know they were still releasing outfits after the release lol.
Honestly wasting Carnage as a DLC Boss with just one Mission would have been a disgrace to this villain. The guy deserves at the very least a Side Villain Role in the upcoming SM3 OR A Main Antagonist in the Upcoming Venom Spinoff (Should it happen)
But like as a DLC villain he is far too high tier. Hammerhead in the first game I get it but Carnage deserves a proper stage.
You know that they could at least set him up as a villain in dlc. Dlc should not be a closed story every time
@@johnnybravo5969 They have already set him up in the main game. He has the Symbiote now the next step would be to introduce Carnage Idk honestly what you could set up in a DLC furthermore?
Also it states "Open World Mission" not Missions so its just one Mission with a Boss Fight attached to it. I honestly think it wouldnt be good. So imo its a good thing that they cancelled it or for those that absolutely crave for a DLC there were other possibilities instead of Carnage. Chameleon would have been a good DLC Villain.
@@Kadir-fw7xm Wait I am not a devil advocate my point is if there was Carnage dlc they could make him a real threat that by the end of dlc only becomes stronger to set him up for SM 3 or Venom game.
They know exactly what people will hear when they say *"We have no plans to announce DLC at this point."* and it's not *_"We're not releasing DLC for this game."_*
And they could've saved themselves the headache if they just said it. Because every time there was a new Event or Con, people would ask them.

@@Dorian_Barber definitely not more challenging than the 2nd what are you on they're both easy to pick up lmao
when people say sm2 is short but than don't have a problem with smmm
So I'm one of the people who were waiting for PC. There are two things that could have happened and this is pure conjecture.
1. Sony has figured out that a year of timed exclusivity is what they like. And when they release to PC they don't like simultaneous release for their singleplayer games. They want a complete package to "scoop up the left overs" so people don't just go "well I'll buy the game not the DLC." I think it also cuts costs so you aren't testing things at the same time off-development time. So I think Sony could have just said "You're taking too long on the DLC for our PC release. Cancel the DLC"
Insomniac: “there be no story dlc for spider man 2”
Clarkson: “oh no, anyway….”

Would have been sick to play a multiplayer or co op Spiderman game
I felt nothing when I finished this game. Felt so bland story wise. nothing will ever compare to the first game.

What's so hard to believe? They spent hundreds of millions on a canceled multi-player that never launched, and the game didn't sell like the first one. Are you kidding me??? Spiderman 2 came out 2 years ago????? it literally came out exactly one year ago, October 20th 2023, and we're on the 22nd
i feel like some elements of the dlc would have been hated and moved over to the next game, like i can see a game where carnage is the main villian with bettle being a opening villian to ease people in like sandman. cause right now the king in black storyline is getting the front and centre treatment and it seems like the next super big bad that make sense is Red-Goblin (Carnage norman osbourne mix) so it'll could play out as [intro] Bettle and Co > [act 1] Green goblin and the setup of the life foundation > [act 2] Carnage and his new symbiote escapees Riot, Lasher and Co (- scream) > [act 3] with cleetus beaten and defeated near norman or someway for norman to get the red goo, last fight is Red goblin using the death of harry as a emotional turmoil to bring the fight to the grand finale.
Such a weird comparison to use starfields failed dlc as an explanation as to why a hit game didn't do dlc is insane. That makes no sense as a comparison.
People would absolutely re-download spiderman 2 as exponentially higher numbers than starfield.
It may be they still felt the sales numbers weren't there, but starfield is no where near the bar.
They’ll probably save the dlc for side missions for spiderman 3
And yet again delisting a Single Player Game for countries that doesn't have PSN keep it up Sony
THEY KNEW NOBODY WAS GONNA BUY IT SO THEY MADE IT CHARITY???!!!! 😂😂😂😂
3:00 didn’t leaks like kinda ruin mass effect 3 and fallout 4? Both studios changed what we’re arguably better stories because of leaks.
They didn't even sell 200 of those skin packs.
The game was completely unfinished and broken. Sweetbaby ruined the game with corny writing and lack of respect for the actual character. So everything that happened to insomniac n Sony they deserved it.
I remember hearing about the day one crashes and freezing.
lmao, the writers dont have respect for the character?
fans are crying bc Peter wants to retire after his long career as spiderman.
@@HickoryChip0 I've never experienced my PlayStation 5 crash and everything until I played that game lol I have hella recordings. It was so annoying to play. N I had my girl buy it for me day 1.
@@lucaleone4331 he’s only 25 in the game
The comics Peter is at most 27 and still going strong
@@lucaleone4331 you’re shilling way too hard
Man that sucks...i was really ready to pick it up again like the first one that had 3 good dlcs
They couldn’t even get Venom right in the game. Good thing they didn’t start Carnage
Spiderman PS4 to SM 2 was the same jump as Madden year to year. Added some features. take out other features and add some back latter(New game +)

Sony is free falling from grace 😂
Nope. That’s Gaybox.

You are guessing and thinking about what they could have sold it for and how long the DLC could be while we already have DLCs for Spiderman 1 and know how long it was. It either sold well or not. You may be right about the retention for the DLCs and that this statistic could have been taken from the first game and with increased price for each dlc they could come to a conclusion that its not worth it this time and they will leave the ideas for a new game which will be bought by many more people.
I immediately uninstalled Spider-Man 2 when I seen that Peter Parker looked completely different to Spiderman in 2018.
Oh so you’re the over reactionary type I see. You don’t even see his face for most of the game. What is even wrong with it?
@@MrPickles0304 you should’ve known about the face change long before
@@chandlerburse I should of but unfortunately I did not. I took a break from gaming.
@@SoyboyPeter What is wrong with it? Do I even have to explain what is wrong with it?
First one had a better story honestly but I did expect a carnage dlc since they set it up on the base game, well... let's hope the third part it's better
Miles already cucked and replaced Peter (which is why I never bought this game) in the main game. Can’t imagine what the dlc had in store. Peter fat, jobless and losing Mary Jane to miles
Disney loves Miles because he's their creation and using him means no royalties to the estates of his creators
I dont think you guys know what cucked means
@@HickoryChip0miles is not disneys creation
@@HickoryChip0bendis created miles the same guy who created the og ultimate spidey
This is the most pathetic fckn take Ive ever seen.
LOSE his job? LOSE his girlfriend? You mean the things that happen to him when he's spiderman?
You realize Spiderman is what RUINS peters life right?
That is WHY he's retiring.
literally stfu lmao
Cyberpunk made me sad when it was released in the state it was, it eventually swung around and became one of the better games of this console generation. With that said I wish they’d let Spider-man swing around to take those people who said it was a bad game and prove to them it wasn’t. Now it’s always just gonna be a decent little story that coulda been so much more had Sony not called upon the Pig o’ Greed.
That skin pack was free in the UK 😅
I think the carnage could have been a new game plus, story line were Venom and Peter team up to take on, miles and carnage.
The Fresh and Fly suits were the most disrespectful things on the whole damn planet
Any game that sells like emotes or stickers/photo mode items, I laugh before looking at other things, that are actual content. I am always the one who buys story content, yes I am that person. But I don't even use photo mode. Couldn't care less if I tried...
I wonder if the delay of the last spiderverse movie killed these plans, I think people underestimate how much they had planned to ride the hype of both of those movies as they were gonna come out
This definitely (as Luke said) was due to the hack and all the data released. Wolverine was leaked almost entirely and shown on YT. Also the ongoing SAG-AFTRA video game strike is a factor. Case and point 1. Just wait for games to release. 2. Stop harassing people to release "GTA 6". Stop looking for a leak cause you're impatient and 3. Companies gotta start paying fair wage for an actors work man
14:40 I might be wrong but Im pretty sure they were free but you could pay to get them earlier
