@@OzanBurada Northern Ireland has no official flag of its own. It was the Red Hand of Ulster till the early 1970s, and that flag is still used today in some areas, but it's no longer recognised as the official flag. Other flags flown in Northern Ireland may include
      Union Jack
      St Patrick's Cross
      Scottish Flag
      Orange order
      Jubilee flags
      Tricolour
It depends on whether you're in a unionist or nationalist area.

Was volunteering in Nepal a couple years back, the organization I was there with had an Irish employee there, as well as a couple other German volunteers. Unsurprisingly, the Germans found it extremely funny to continously make IRA jokes towards Cormac, the employee. He took them on the chin until he heard that an Irish volunteer would be joining us.
He got very serious, took them to the side and told them: "Yeah, you gotta stop as soon as he joins. I heard he's from the Northern border, so his family might have lost loved ones to the troubles. Don't do that shit to him."
Was my first, obviously very memorable contact with the relationship of the Irelands.

It's not uncommon for Europeans to make relentless jokes about each other's country/culture. But indeed the point is to share a laugh about how all our countries are/have fucked up in their own way. It bonds. But indeed it's not the point to hurt someone on a very personal level.

I'm sorry. I must protest in the strongest terms. A full English breakfast does not include soda bread or potato bread. I once paid well over the odds for a cooked breakfast in Brighton and the bread was just supermarket sliced white with a bit of butter. It wasn't even toasted. I don't know whether an Irish breakfast includes soda bread and potato bread, but an English breakfast certainly doesn't and is massively inferior for it. No Ulsterman would ever allow the slander that our cooked breakfast, with its two different kinds of special bread, is the same as the absolute mockery of a cooked breakfast you get in England!

So our fried breakfasts were always different (and better) than those of our English friends! My parents have moved back to NI now, and I visit regularly. Potato bread abounds! I'm actually a vegan now, so my cooked breakfasts are no longer traditionally English, Irish or Ulster! But the potato bread and soda farls remain where possible, just now coupled with scrambled tofu instead! 🤭
