I’m almost thirty-one years old; I’ll never forget my dad blasting this in the car with my younger sister and I. It was one of the songs that was part of our “soundtrack” in the late nineties and the early years of the new millennium.
Its every man woman and child's number one question Who is God why are we here It all revolves around the crusifiction of Christ. We all want to know for sure, those that know have eternal life
It's 2024 and I'm still listening to all of these songs...Remembering how my big brother blasted these songs during his highschool days (my elementary days)🥰💝💐
Dishwalla was one of my all-time favorite live sets. I'd seen them in a music festival in Oahu about 25 years ago. Their performance was amazing, much credit to the sound crew. The band sounded so crisp, heavy, and utterly hypnotic. As if the music was passing through my body and transcending my soul. I'll never forget that is exactly when I became a fan
One of so many great bands listening to as a kid, could swear I was on every time we were in the boat, or at the beach. Being in the bar a lot too, bowling alley.. it was everywhere. So many great memories attached to this song.
GREAT Sounds' God Job guys......miss those 90's sounds.......just beautiful. you guys look health, in sync, vibing it out in the studio. just beautiful.....
@@Daniel-415-Ponce Dishwalla split in 2005 after releasing their fourth album. The band re-formed in 2008, but without JR, who moved to England, where there is better treatment for his son. He's had a lot of success with PledgeMusic, and is using his fan community to fund his next album
This song is one of many that takes me back to riding around in the 90s. I still put it on when the day is nice with the windows down. Also like to play it when we get together with our friends for a bonfire & drinks
@@Riri-oj1zs This is literally their only song to hit number 1 (and only on the US alt charts) and their only single to be RIAA certified (Gold and Digital Gold in this case). So yes, literally a 1 hit wonder. But measuring a band by popularity alone isn't a great measure. So while it can be a compliment to talk about all the hits a band made, it's never the full story, and it should never be an insult that a band had few or no hits. Some of my favorite musicians are zero hit wonders.
Have always loved this song … I’m a teen of the 70s … young adult during 80s metal, glam, and new wave … and appreciated alt rock, grunge, and good 90s rock like Stone Temple Pilots, Dishwalla, etc … Hope rock makes a comeback, as it’s been sparse in the 21st century so far 😔
Miss the voice of the original vocalist. But this new guys good too. I was never a fan of much music that came out in the mid to late 90s. But like Alito of it for the nostalgia factor. I started to take up photography around 96' and these songs take me back to that era and I love it. I appreciate the late 90s music now.
We all miss JR with this band right? In all honesty I think Justin has done a great job in picking up where JR left off and carrying this band forward. To me I feel like Justin has a very similar voice to JR, which I personally appreciate. I hope Dishwalla continues to make songs in 2024 and beyond with Justin or JR. Maybe they can link up together at some point. When I hear Dishwalla with a new singer, I think of William Duvall replacing Layne Staley with Alice In Chains and being blown away at how similar William sounds to Layne. Just goes to show you, sometimes out with the old in with the new is necessary, whatever the circumstance may be.
Must've been mid afternoon I could tell by how far the child's shadow stretched out and He walked with a purpose In his sneakers, down the street He had many questions Like children often do He said: Tell me all your thoughts on God Tell me am I very far Must've been late afternoon On our way the sun broke free of the clouds We count only blue cars Skip the cracks in the street And ask many questions Like children often do We said: Tell me all your thoughts on God 'Cause I'd really like to meet her And ask her why we're who we are Tell me all your thoughts on God 'Cause I'm on my way to see her So tell me am I very far, Am I very far now? It's getting cold, picked up the pace! How our shoes make hard noises in this place! Our clothes are stained We pass many cross-eyed people And ask many questions Like children often do Tell me all your thoughts on God 'Cause I'd really like to meet her And ask her why we're who we are Tell me all your thoughts on God 'Cause I'm on my way to see her So tell me, am I very far? Does anyone know how he gets that acoustic to be such a beast? They didn't even need a base player - the low e string was rumbling the whole studio. It sounded a lot like open tuning. But then maybe a fat pick and heavy stings. I'm learning this song now. Even guesses would be great. thanks

Great memory and great song
I turned 35 this year and remember quiet vividly the same.
Same. My dad’s been gone since 2020. I’ll never not think of him when I hear this song. I’m going to ask God one day why he too him from me.
Really not respectful to play music so loud it’s blasting to all your neighbors. Not cool.
Takes me back to the 90s..love it.
Why does this song make me cry? It has so many memories locked in.❤

Justin doesn't have the tone and depth of feeling as a vocalist as J.R. does. But I think he does well with his own interpretation of a Dish classic.
