Fun Fact: In most of designs of Kamen Riders, they have some mark around the eyes. This was a trend since the Showa Era, where this marks meant to represent the Riders' tears of sadness for what they have to lose to obtain their powers: Humanity, Family, love ones, etc. But as you can see, Fourze lacks this on his helmet, because Toei wanted Fourze to be the most lighthearted Rider possible to cheer up children though Japan after the eartquake of 2011. As a sidenote; after that earthquake, a Tsunami hit the city of Ishinomaki, destroying a great part of the city... Except for the statue of Kamen Rider Ichigou, which, despite everything, was still standing as a true hero, becoming a symbol of hope for Japan during the crisis.
The statue thing is an example of what I call snafu syndrome. Snafu syndrome is a condition where a fictional character acts as a hero in both their world and our world

PolarPhantom fair enough. Then the only other contender that comes to mind for most hated would be decade. If that is what he means, then, yeah, I could see it. ONORE DIKEDO!
Ghost's crime is being a waste of space and squandering of potential. Worse than that is 555 for giving us Kusaka. Kusaka is unforgivable. At least Decade gave us an excuse for later continuity errors.
There's actually a bunch more history to Kamen Rider for those unfamiliar. Kamen Rider was created in 1971 by the legendary manga writer and artist Shotaro Ishinomori and Toei Producer Tohru Hirayama. The initial idea the two worked on was a more straight forward superhero named Crossfire. Despite the producers’ approval, Ishinomori was not satisfied with the new character. He wanted something darker and grotesque, so he decided to create a new design that drew inspiration from his Skullman character, an anti-hero who had starred in a short manga back in 1970. Ishinomori’s intention was to create a new kind of horror story, one you could still show for children, but also intended to strike fear in them. The Skullman-inspired design was not viewed favorably by the sponsors, forcing Ishinomori and Hirayama to reevaluate the project. The result was the creation of a grasshopper-themed hero called Kamen Rider. The hero represented the struggle of nature against the industrial society, embodied as the Shocker, evil organization which aims to transform humans into machines devoid of free will.
Also according to the Media Mix, this new series would not only become a television show, but also a simultaneously-published manga as well. Allowing the two to go their own way.
While both productions were made around the same time, they were not entirely related: Ishinomori handled the manga while Hirayama and his team produced the TV series back at Toei. They both followed the same basic plot; Takeshi Hongo is a brilliant college studentwho also dreams of becoming a motorcycle racer when one day during his training, he has an accident and is taken by Shocker soldiers and surgically altered into a cyborg. He then escapes and decides to turn against the organization that caused him so much suffering, vowing to fight for the sake of humanity as Kamen Rider.
And Kikaider, Inazuman, Akumaizer 3, Kaiketsu Zubatt, Robokon, and Robot Keiji K, who let to the creation of Gavan and the Metal hero franchise and in turn Robocop.
While Fourze's combat starts slow, in later episodes as he finds more switches and gets more experienced fighting in the Kamen Rider form, his fighting style evolves into a quick-change string of awesomeness, sometimes hotswapping two or more switches from the belt at a time and immediately using them, then switching again, using the new stuff, switching again - it really gets pretty absurd in the best way possible.
Connor Naive You mean the final form that can create cosmic wormholes or the final form that gives Gentarou the power of everyone he's ever called friend?
well, TECHNICALLY that's what it is. He's saying "Uchuu Kita", "Uchuu" does translate to "Space", but as far as I can tell, "Kita" has no real English word to go with it, but it basically means "Awesome" from what I've seen
I believe Kubo said Ichigo's fullbring was based on a Toku design to not be as cool.. He forgot that his dub voice actor was a Power Ranger as his most memorable role then. And eventually... then you get a Kamen Rider as the actor portraying him
"Let's ignore that because Yuki has decided to start stripping." That makes sense. Because, as you pointed out on a live show once: "There's no penalty for stripping."
I'd actually recommend Kamen Rider Kuuga, as to me it's got a lot of the strengths of Fourze (a likeable protagonist that believes in hope, goodness and friendship while also being a badass), while also feeling more like a traditional superhero series in a lot of respects. The hero keeps his identity a secret, he actively works with a representative of law enforcement to stop the bad guys, the monsters feel like what would happen if you combined Batman's rogue's with Spider-Man's villains, and the hero's abilities actually have logical drawbacks and strengths, forcing him to fight smart. He even has the "hero support team" ala "Arrow" and "The Flash", over a decade before either show.
Oh, man, Kuuga's great. The fighting's a lot slower, but at the same time, you really feel the impact of the hits. Also, the motorcycle stunts are incredible.
Yea I started with Decade and after I was done with that I watched Kuuga and it turned into my favorite kamen rider, I hope if he does another kamen rider it's Kuuga.
As someone who lives and works in Japan, it is indeed pronounce "zeh-ro" The katakana for Fourze is フォーゼ "Fohze", with the "foh" part frequently subbing for the "for" syllable in English. So four-zay would be correct. Katakana is phonetic so you can't really argue with it. Japanese has multiple ways of saying numbers. Y'know how English has one, two, three and first, second, third? They have that kind of thing too. And they took the English/Portuguese/Spanish word for "0" as their word for it, for various reasons. ALSO! Gift giving in Japan is a lot more casual than it is in the West. If you go on a trip you're expected to bring gifts back for your friends and co-workers. If you visit someone's house, you're expected to bring a gift. Them presenting her with gifts in an attempt to curry favor without considering if they'd be something she'd actually want is something that actually comes up. It's kinda like a parent chewing their teenage kid out for drawing a half-ass card for Mother's Day rather than doing something the mom would actually want.
So Gentaro is basically the Kamen Rider Version of Josuke I was going to use Live Action Version of Josuke but there's already a Live action version of Josuke.
Actually, he's more kind of the Kamen Rider version of Kamina from Gurren Lagann, given that the head writer for that show was also the head writer for Fourze. (He's even got the same flame deco on his notebook and occasionally clothing that decorated the ganmen robot Gurren in that show!) (I sometimes refer to the show as "My Little Kamina Rider: Friendship is Manly". :) )
On the 'moral lesson' you brought up, I'd like to make an argument real quick to try and show what Miu's side of the story was and the reason for her actions. You do have to remember that Miu is the big dog on campus and, given that it's her senior year (as we find out later), it's likely she's been dealing with this for a while. Thus, her attitude towards the gifts can be explained as her feeling like the gifts are disingenuous and are only done to suck up to her. Her speech at the end can thus be seen as her calling out the school for going out of their way to suck up to her instead of trying to improve and better themselves. Not saying that your perspective on things isn't valid, the gifts could have indeed been heartfelt. However, she's also likely jaded as while she has a drive to improve herself, she also is suffering a bit from people trying to suck up to the 'queen' of the school. Later episodes show her starting to break away from this a bit due to having friends in the Kamen Rider Club now (to the point where, during the focus episodes for Shun, she shoots down him asking her to date him again (And Shun's situation is very much complicated too...)) so you could probably make an added argument that she had frustration over her position that hanging out with the others helps to alleviate. Anyway, there's my personal view on the situation, which I think is, at least, close to what the writers had in mind. Hope that helps you see what they were intending.
@@MrSafior Yeah, probably. If I had money to donate to his patreon, I'd probably suggest Kamen Rider Zi-O for a patreon sponsored review for episodes 1-4. maybe 5 and 6 too (since they have to do with Kamen Rider Fourze). Not sure on suggesting the Complimentation Project episodes since it could come at the risk of spoiling details for stuff like Kamen Rider Build (since they just casually drop spoiler bombs in 2.5 about a couple of plot revelations, one of which only gets revealed over half-way through the show). It'd also be good ti figure out just how much Linkara has been able to watch of Fourze, since Zi-O does bring up its second rider. That's hardly a dealbreaker thing but it'd probably be best to find out in the show.
I see where you're coming from with Miu, but if that was their intention then they really fail to show that in my opinion since destroying the gifts made her look like an unlikable bitch since her claiming that giving a gift to the popular girl fall flat instead of being genuine since we never have shown that her claims were true as the show didn't present her fans giving her the gifts to get some popularity points hence this is speculation on her part and even if that was true, her actions are inexcusable as they pay a large amount of money and destroying it without giving back their money was fuck up thing to do, but these idiots still voted her for the queen was just stupid and still the one thing in this season that pissed me off, also unlike the others we never got a reason why she thinks this way in the first place which just makes her action fall flat, to be honest.
To be fair, Miu actually becomes a much better character later on after her debut episodes. As do a lot of characters who seem like a jerk at firsthand. Kamen Rider Fourze actually has my favorite cast of characters in the series. Fourze's not my favorite, but seeing these characters interact and develop is honestly really nice. I recommend you keep going if you're still interested, the show is good!
Fourze has a very rought start characterization-wise. Not just because some of the characters are jerks in the beginning, that's fine, but because of how one note the intial characterization is, for everyone. They were really pushing for the whole american highschool-like cliques and stuff and as usual in the beginning of Japanese children shows, really trying to enforce their basic personality traits and mannerisms. After a couple of episodes everyone starts getting much more entertaining to act as they start acting more naturally and less like cartoon characters.
I've just started Fourze, wanting to get into Kamen Rider. I like the jock character. He seems the most relatable. When he broke down crying, I felt that.
@@42Caio Miu and her boyfriend introduction was atrocious and even if they change it was badly written and not believable since it happen way too quick.
Gio A I actually hope that some one gets him to do ex-aid next mostly because I think he would like it and I think he could get some good material out of it
Unlikely, as he said, he doesn't really care about it. He pretty much says the same about Super Sentai. He considers Power Rangers its own thing and that's what he cares about. The amount of work involved in a "History Of..." probably means there's never going to be a realistic Patreon level for it.
One of my favorite Kamen Rider Series. It's surprisingly dark when you move forward, not as dark as some of the stuff in the franchise, just contrasting a lot the high school setting
Love Kamen Rider, love super sentai and I love your awesome reviews Lewis. Hope ya get another Kamen Rider review request in the future and get to see all the other things Tokusatsu has to offer.
The name of the space station "Rabbit Hutch" is a reference to the Japanese legend of the Rabbit Moon... a rabbit that lives in the moon & creates an elixir of life. It's referenced early on in Dragon Ball too (Goku strands a rabbit gang boss on the moon after saving Bulma). :P I'm not a huge fan of Fourze, but this video did remind me of the similarities it has to the new Kamen Rider Build & it's experimentation/science!
Nah, Piccolo didn't hurt the bunnies at all. They'd already died when Master Roshi blew up the moon in Dragonball. Yeah, the moon got blown up twice. :-P
*UCHUUUUUUUUU KITAAAAAAAAAAA* Btw i do agree with your critique about chapter 4's moral message but i like to interpret it as "Don't give gifts to get on the good side of someone, do it because you care" or something like that. Although Miu's attitude to the whole situation kinda makes this hard to defend but at least there is more development for her as the show goes on.
I interpreted her reasoning as her wanting to push people towards using their talents to further themselves rather than to appease her. From a certain perspective, it's a rather harsh version of humility, one that can be easily misinterpreted, but the intent is there.
The subs didn't help with this either, the phrasing of Miu's lines in the O-T subs make it a lot clearer her problem is that people are hitching their wagon to her popularity and essentially being codependent.
Yeah I kinda interpreted it as her coming down on people trying to half-ass their way to get into her good graces without actually caring about what the recipient would want, so that they could use the fact they gave her SOMETHING as an excuse to curry favor. It's an awkward lesson to try to get across, but it's one that DOES come up in the Japanese school and corporate worlds a lot.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the subs actually fucked up those lines. It happens way too often with many kamen rider shows, but i'm glad you guys agree about the message of the episode
TV-Nihon subs are notoriously bad. They're known for fumbling translations, having stilted and awkward dialogue lacking a good character voice, missing really important details, and leaving important stuff untranslated. I know for a fact their subs of Kamen Rider Gaim mistranslated a number of really important pieces of dialogue including a couple of really critical character moments. Whatever bugaboos people have with Over-Time subs at least Over-time doesn't get stuff flat wrong.
So can "mu" in certain contexts. However Japanese shows do use "Zero" to mean "Zero" often enough, there's plenty seepage of English in the Japanese language Fourze comes from "Four Zero", but it's generally pronounced "Fourz" without a significant vowel ending.
Congratulations. This video and the Gokaiger video have plunged me deep into this world of toku. And I couldn't be any more happy. Well, I COULD if I had all the gimmick toys I wanted, but that's WAY to expensive for me
While I respect Linkara’s opinion on it not being his thing, I do feel the need to let people know that this franchise has fluxed in tone over the years with each entry. Some are darker and cater to adults like Amazons, while others are more lighthearted and fun to sell toys. This is part of the secret sauce that gives the series its longevity as it is now 50+ years old. The main motif theme of insects was dropped almost entirely after Kabuto, only occasionally reappearing in anniversary characters or in single seasons like with Zero-One being a modern tech take on Rider 1. This is another aspect that draws crowds, seeing what kind of crazy things the costume designers at PLEX and Blend Master come up with: a fruit samurai, a pumpkin head vampire, a dragon knight powered by books, an armored kitsune playing in a deadly reality show game, gamer doctors with googly anime eyes powered by cartridges and a coin operated animal chimera man who can mix and match animal powers as examples.
what makes Fourze's name EVEN MORE CONFUSING is that Kamen Rider Gaim's sengoku driver pernounces it "four-zay" which is how I say it, since that's how I was introduced to the character
Actually, I'm pretty sure that's not a "fohawk" Gentaro has. I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be the typical "delinquent hair" that some Japanese thug characters have, you know, a pompadour. Just that you apparently can't exaggerate it much in real life, so it's just styled to look kinda like one. The only reason I say it's not a fohawk otherwise, is because those usually are stiff and pointy in a backwards C shape on the head and it's called a fohawk because the sides of the head aren't shaved unlike a regular mohawk.
@@KhanhNguyen-mh5ec I wasn't worried about specific branding, but I suppose it's a bit more like that specific one, yes. also, that was literally years ago, necromancer.
Only a few criticisms, 1: Power Dizer was mispronounced, 2: Tomoko was classed as a goth, not an otaku (That was Yuki) and TVN subs, although those were the first you found. I hope people end up seeing this as Miu and Shun (the jock) actually get quite a bit of character development not too far after where you left off
wait... this IS the origin of Kamen Rider Fourze, he's going to be in a movie (in Japan) next month, and hasn't really been around for a few years at this point... Could this be considered part of Secret Origins Month XD
Fun Fact about Kamen Rider, it was this series that introduced the idea of a team of multi colored riders which was dropped until the now established first Super Sentai series Goranger aired. Also speaking of KR anniversary's regarding Fourze, this along with the sentai series Power Rangers skipped Go-Busters, celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the block show called Super Hero Time by doing a crossover movie called Super Hero Taisen which ironically only focuses on the last pair of Sentai and Rider which was OOO and Gokaiger (aka Super Megaforce).
Fourze has a lot of heart the further you get into it. It has one of the most satisfying endings of the Rider series I've seen so far, second only to Wizard, I think.
I'm glad you enjoyed what you checked out of this season. Fourze is probably my third favorite Rider series thanks to its strong main and side characters and actually having decent tie-in movies (most KR movies are not very good). I'm not going so say anything about your pronunciations (I know you're not a big consumer of Japanese media), and I'll just say I can't get the idea of "Kamen Rider Popular Racing Game" out of my head now. Ironically, we do have Car and Video Game themed Kamen Riders.
Also, the satellite costume and Hayabusa-kun song are a salute to the actual Hayabusa satellite that Japan's space program had launched! ...can't wait to see the Olympics themed rider.
If you're interested in a Kamen Rider series with a somewhat similar feel, but executed somewhat better, I have a suggestion, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid. The show is based around doctors using special video games to turn into Riders to cure patients. *Edit* Removed the mention of person who doesn’t deserve it
Dude, you will never get people to HOPR Dragon Knight. Not because it's bad or anything (In fact it's pretty good), but people are more interested on the japanese originals all the time. You'd be more likely asked to do Ryuki rather than Dragon Knight any day. Also, nobody will EVER ask for Masked Knight. That show just stinks.
I haven't seen Dragon Knight, but I thoroughly enjoyed Ryuki. Interestingly, Madoka Magica was directly inspired by Ryuki, and it shows. Also also, Asakura is fantastic. :-D
at 12:28, I'm a little surprised that you didn't do a reference to that "no penalty for stripping" line from your live show of the yugioh manga chapter 2, maybe that could be in the next top 15 missed opportunities
It was nice to see a review of a Kamen Rider series. This is not my favorite of the Kamen Rider I've watched, but this review has made me look at it in a different light. I hope that you can get to make those Histories of Masked Rider and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight.
Got to say I'm really glad I saw this video it gave me the push I needed to actual watch kamen rider. And since then I've watch kamen rider w and just finish Fourze.
Amazingly, digging through comic bins last year, i found a B&B 28. And then 3 more. All were reprints. But not the #27 and #29 that were in the same bin.
I loved Dragon Knight. Fun fact: Dragon Knight was created by the same guys who made Guyver 2. Yet another instance of them taking a chicken s**t American adaptation of a Japanese superhero property and turning it into chicken salad. I’d love to see another Kamen Rider come to America if it was the same quality as Dragon Knight. Preferably OOO or that one where he has a vampire theme and all his forms are based on the Universal Monsters. Oh and while I should’ve said this on the Justice League video: congratulations, Linkara. Hope married life treats you well.
Fourze is one of my favorite seasons. a couple of small notes: 1) Four-Zay IS the correct pronunciation, as heard in the theme song. in Japanese, Zero is pronounced Zeh-ro (Zeh rhyming with the "eh?" you see in stereotypical canadian dialogue) and without the -ro part dragging it down, the ze ends up sounding more like zay. 2) Powerdizer, not Powderizer. I have no idea what a dizer is, or how you dize something, but this one does it powerfully.
Kamen Rider Fourze was my first Kamen Rider show and I love it. Perfect place for someone who grew up watching the disney channel like me to start. It's Japan trying to take American High-school tropes while still having their own makes it so surreal. Miu is one of the american tropes. She's the queen bee of the high school but she does get better. The entire point of Fourze is about connections. Further in there's another rider, Kamen Rider Meteor who trying to find a certain switch user so he can get his friend out of a coma. Miu is actually really interesting reframing of the Queen bee. Miu destroyed those gifts because she thinks it's their way to suck up to her and get in a better social position. They only see the image that she presents and don't care for the real her. That's why she was so confrontational with Gentaro. Because his approach is so brazen it doesn't seem genuine
If someone pays him to watch more of Kamen Rider Fourze, don't skip ahead, let him see the entire Kamen Rider Club form. Then you could let him see Ryusei. Also the theme song will grow on Linkara.
My personal favorites are Blade Brave(Kamen Rider blade's 1st op song), Boundless life(Kamen Rider Ryuki's finisher song), Excite(Kamen Rider Exaid's op song).
"Does Kamen Rider have a burger morpher too?" Well, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid in one episode had a burger-based form with rollerblades and ketchup and mustard shooters. And also it had a friendly Monster of the Week named Burgermon, that was defeated by making him a burger. BURGERS!!!
To me Karmen Rider had the more believable armor. While both Super Sentai & Power Rangers had the hard helmet skintight look. Which honestly I couldn't suspend my disbelief for.
Well, some of the KRs do have skin tight spandex as well, but they tend to be bulkier. The most armored one's so far are the default armored forms of Kabuto, although the riders typically use Cast Off immediately to throw most of the armor away. (The bad guys all have super speed, so Cast Off grants the riders super speed as well. The don't really explain why the bulky armor is even there at all, but it at least looks cool, for some of them.)
0:28 Actually most Kamen Riders have a second rider these days, usually in a similar vein to sixth rangers. Obviously stuff like Ryuki, Gaim and Ex-Aid are still exceptions though.
Well, only at the early stage of the show. And, Hiiro also became really powerful later in the show and proved to be a bad-ass. For Kaito................. I am not going to say anything.
Fourze remains one of my favorite Kamen Riders because they use the Power of Friendship late in the series, but as an actual power and not a cop out, with weaknesses and everything
So Dragon Knight WAS canceled, i knew it! Now granted i never watched Ryuuki but i know a few things about it and DK was...Not that good from what i remember. Not as bad as Masked Rider sure but still 2:22 No. Zero in Japanese is not pronounced Zee-Roh, it's pronounced Zeh-Roh. Hence Four-Zeh and not Four-Zah 6:44 No, that's a different Rider down the line 8:30 PowerDizer. Powederizer is just a weird name for a robot. Like it makes me think of a robot used for makeup that distributes powder to girls 10:07 And this is your catchphrase for this season 13:09 She's more of a goth than an Otaku though. I mean just look at her 16:42 Oh boy, this line right here REALLY resonates with Rider fans. Granted the first half of Kamen Rider Ghost was decent but the second half? OH BOY! Talk about running something halfway decent into the ground and burring it Yeah Miu and the jock are complete asshats. But they get..."better" down the line
"That person's gonna become an all powerful god or something like that."
No, that's actually a different Kamen Rider.
It's funny because it's true xD
Koko kara wa ore no sutēji da!
Tfw when you predict the next (next?) season's basic plot
FuugaNatsu What's that mean?
ZoanBlade90 "This is my stage now" Kamen Rider Gaim's catchphrase.
Hail our orange flavor God

Because of that they never aired two eps of pokemon. Forgot what series think it's B&W
Linkara: "Does kamen rider have a burger morpher too?"
Oh give it time...we already have fruit ones.
Otaku Dragon there's a later season of Super Sentai where one of the ranger's morphers is a burger. So there's that.
Altair718 That's the joke. There's a box in the background of this video featuring The Burger Morpher from Ninninjer
JoshtheOverlander oh shit I didn't even notice XD
Altair718 The More You Know :3
Well, in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, Ex-Aid has a form that has a finishing move which he makes burgers.
"That's not the power of space, clearly that's the power of bleach!"
Fun fact: Gentaro's actor is Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach a few years later.
Two more future characters may have also ended up in Bleach too
Fitting actually considering how both characters value friendship
Fourze is more light-hearted than most Rider seasons. Mostly to encourage kids to make friends after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami
stickizonline i didn't know that. That's cool and very positive.
stickizonline More light-hearted than Den-O?
as reasons for making show go, trying to instill goodness, positivity and togetherness in the face of horrible tragedy and terror is a noble and heartwarming one.
stickizonline I
thats one of the reasons it's my favorite
"Piss off, Ghost!"
Linkara unintentionally says something that will resonate with the majority of Kamen Rider fans.
Too much hate for Ghost. There are worse seasons out there.
Kimba like what? From what I have seen the only other contender for most hated Kamen rider series is wizard
Wizard's mediocre and a waste of potential more than bad. Of course, I know next to nothing about Ghost, so I can't speak on that one's quality.

10:15 linkara your jokes trascend time and space.
The actor who played Gentaro also played Ichigo Kurosaki, main character of Bleach.
I believe Kubo said Ichigo's fullbring was based on a Toku design to not be as cool..

"Let's ignore that because Yuki has decided to start stripping."
That makes sense. Because, as you pointed out on a live show once: "There's no penalty for stripping."
damn that has to become a missed opportunity
Kuuga had also one of the best support cast like a competent police force
Oh, man, Kuuga's great. The fighting's a lot slower, but at the same time, you really feel the impact of the hits. Also, the motorcycle stunts are incredible.
Paxchi Terminator, a Detachable Bike starter, (Why isn't that a thing over here?) and me learning that super hearing can super suck! =D
Lotus Prince How do we not have detachable Bike starters? That is a cool concept.
Yea I started with Decade and after I was done with that I watched Kuuga and it turned into my favorite kamen rider, I hope if he does another kamen rider it's Kuuga.
As someone who lives and works in Japan, it is indeed pronounce "zeh-ro"
The katakana for Fourze is フォーゼ "Fohze", with the "foh" part frequently subbing for the "for" syllable in English.
So Gentaro is basically the Kamen Rider Version of Josuke
I was going to use Live Action Version of Josuke but there's already a Live action version of Josuke.
The Oshawott Man well gentaro's actor is going to play ichigo kurusaki in the live action Bleach movie Coming up
@@andrewgifford1007 that's why he isn't in zi-o
Well, at least unlike Josuke, you don't have to get your ass handle for insulting his hair. XD
Actually, he's more kind of the Kamen Rider version of Kamina from Gurren Lagann, given that the head writer for that show was also the head writer for Fourze. (He's even got the same flame deco on his notebook and occasionally clothing that decorated the ganmen robot Gurren in that show!)
(I sometimes refer to the show as "My Little Kamina Rider: Friendship is Manly". :) )
@@KubatheChangeling Nah, he will punch you then ask you to be his friend.
I agree with your pov, I think it was pretty clear in the version I wacht it, so maybe you could blame TV nihon for the bad translation.
That's how I saw it too,and it would make more sense why Gentarou would want to ve friends with her if that's the case

I hope he makes History of Kamen Riders!
Isn't someone already doing that?
MKDemigodZ Warrior marcosatsu is doing that. though I would like to see how Linkara would do if he tried this.
Unlikely, as he said, he doesn't really care about it. He pretty much says the same about Super Sentai. He considers Power Rangers its own thing and that's what he cares about. The amount of work involved in a "History Of..." probably means there's never going to be a realistic Patreon level for it.
"Stop clapping you morons! Hard work doesn't entitle you to anything!"

What about Garo?

The name of the space station "Rabbit Hutch" is a reference to the Japanese legend of the Rabbit Moon... a rabbit that lives in the moon & creates an elixir of life. It's referenced early on in Dragon Ball too (Goku strands a rabbit gang boss on the moon after saving Bulma). :P
I'm not a huge fan of Fourze, but this video did remind me of the similarities it has to the new Kamen Rider Build & it's experimentation/science!
Dante Solablood I forgot Piccolo blew the moon up, right? Poor bunny 🐰
Nah, Piccolo didn't hurt the bunnies at all. They'd already died when Master Roshi blew up the moon in Dragonball. Yeah, the moon got blown up twice. :-P
Also why Sailor moon's real name is Usagi Tsukino. It literally translates to "moon's rabbit".
*UCHUUUUUUUUU KITAAAAAAAAAAA*
Btw i do agree with your critique about chapter 4's moral message but i like to interpret it as "Don't give gifts to get on the good side of someone, do it because you care" or something like that.
12:55 - I just realized on the umpteenth watch.
Gentaro is keeping up, on a bike, with Kengo on a motorcycle. While talking to Kengo.
I fell in love with Kamen Rider Ex Aid last year, it's REALLY good
Zero is pronounced differently in Japan with the 'Ze' part pronounced 'Zae'
rei means also zero in japanese
Mariner1712 Can you chill pls
So can "mu" in certain contexts. However Japanese shows do use "Zero" to mean "Zero" often enough, there's plenty seepage of English in the Japanese language
Fourze comes from "Four Zero", but it's generally pronounced "Fourz" without a significant vowel ending.
From how I've heard it, it seems to be pronounced Se-Ro.
There's definitely a "Z" sound when they pronounce "Fourze" in the series. If you don't believe me go watch it yourself, it's fun and good.
Anyone else thought Fourze is a human verson of playstation controller

Only a few criticisms, 1: Power Dizer was mispronounced, 2: Tomoko was classed as a goth, not an otaku (That was Yuki) and TVN subs, although those were the first you found. I hope people end up seeing this as Miu and Shun (the jock) actually get quite a bit of character development not too far after where you left off
Wait a minute I was scrolling through my subs and all of a sudden I see you review kamen rider....YESSSSS
Is that a beast wars megatron reference?
wait... this IS the origin of Kamen Rider Fourze, he's going to be in a movie (in Japan) next month, and hasn't really been around for a few years at this point... Could this be considered part of Secret Origins Month XD
Given Gentaro's actor eventually played Ichigo Kurosaki in a Bleach live-action movie Linkara's "Power of Bleach' joke has an extra unintended layer.
This is making more hyped for Heisei Generations Final
You actually uploaded this on one of my friend's birthday! He's a hugeeeeee Kamen Rider fan so I sent him this. He seemed to enjoy your review of it!
"That's the power of Bleach!"
I feel like it's too much of a coincidence that Sota later starred in the live Action Bleach movie
This is my favorite rider series and I went over the moons of Jupiter when I found out so thank you so much
my little Kamen Rider friendship is magic
Fourze has a lot of heart the further you get into it. It has one of the most satisfying endings of the Rider series I've seen so far, second only to Wizard, I think.
Josuke is Kamen Rider confirmed
Seriously.
This is even funnier since his design is based off of a combination of Jotaro and Josuke xD
Yeah, DiU, Persona 4 and Fourze have a LOT of similarities between them
10:13 This joke takes on new meaning when Sōta Fukushi, the actor who plays gentaro, also played ichigo kurosaki in the 2018 bleach live action movie.

I've been looking to try Kamen Rider myself. Can anyone recommend me a season?
i started with Kamen Rider Gaim, but i think Kamen Rider W is a really good place to start
W, OOO, Gaim and Ex-aid would be decent places to start for the “Neo-Heisei” era of the franchise.
I'm also talking seasons that are readily available through fansubbing groups, since I don't speak Japanese fluently.
season 1-3 most of those are fan subbed by kitsubs just google kitsubs kamen rider they are hilarious and goofy
i recommen to begginers kamen rider gaim its a good series with a good tempo, ou can watch the seasons in kissasian ;)
OH SHOOT! Linkara's reviewing Kamen Rider now? AWESOME!!! It's even a season I've watched completely and enjoyed a ton, so this will be fun! :}
18:13 You thought the monster was Kengo. But it was I, Dio!
Yeah that's TV-Nihon for you
TheVerySeriousLewis Is it? Don't they keep some Japanese terms there (like I presume Ucchu Kita)?
zjzr08 They do.
*Edit* Removed the mention of person who doesn’t deserve it
I only recently got into Kamen rider and I already know that Fourze will probably be my favorite just from the sheer fun factor.
Well, considering that most people say that Ryuki, well, kind of sucks, I think Dragon Knight will be the better choice.
maxjpz I want a HOPR style review of Kamen Rider Dragon Knight.
I haven't seen Dragon Knight, but I thoroughly enjoyed Ryuki. Interestingly, Madoka Magica was directly inspired by Ryuki, and it shows. Also also, Asakura is fantastic. :-D
Madoka isn't really inspired by Ryuki (at least not directly). It's far much closer to the deconstructions of My-HiME.
I'd be fine if he did dragon knight instead of ryuki tbh, I just don't want all the marcosatsu fan boys to start raging at linkara to do a crossover
i only have watched your comics review and you are reviewing kamen rider! awesome! i looking forward to see more thank you
uh Lewis? IT'S POWER-DIZER!!!!!
Richard Authemeb honestly powderizer sounds way cooler.
no need to be rude about it
at 12:28, I'm a little surprised that you didn't do a reference to that "no penalty for stripping" line from your live show of the yugioh manga chapter 2, maybe that could be in the next top 15 missed opportunities
It was nice to see a review of a Kamen Rider series. This is not my favorite of the Kamen Rider I've watched, but this review has made me look at it in a different light. I hope that you can get to make those Histories of Masked Rider and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight.
Was not expecting you to review this at all linkara, but I'm glad because Fourze is one of my favourite rider seasons (apart from OOO of course) 😊😊😊
Power of Bleach? Do you mean bankai or Shikai?
Got to say I'm really glad I saw this video it gave me the push I needed to actual watch kamen rider. And since then I've watch kamen rider w and just finish Fourze.
Niiice. I had a feeling Linkara was gonna love Best Rider, even if he's a "Team Sentai" kinda guy.
Omar Harris if saban has the stones to do kamen rider again I bet he'll adapt fourze since it's so over the top.
they air dragon knight over in japan with sub and it did better then what it base on

Fourze is one of my favorite seasons. a couple of small notes:
1) Four-Zay IS the correct pronunciation, as heard in the theme song. in Japanese, Zero is pronounced Zeh-ro (Zeh rhyming with the "eh?" you see in stereotypical canadian dialogue) and without the -ro part dragging it down, the ze ends up sounding more like zay.
2) Powerdizer, not Powderizer. I have no idea what a dizer is, or how you dize something, but this one does it powerfully.
Somebody pay him to review episode 5 to 10.Because Fourze is awesome and the most wholesome Kamen Rider series.
I'm not the only one who keeps thinking Gentarro is going to summon a Stand right?
Yes that is a Jojo's reference.
Fourzeeeeeee...KITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
If someone pays him to watch more of Kamen Rider Fourze, don't skip ahead, let him see the entire Kamen Rider Club form. Then you could let him see Ryusei. Also the theme song will grow on Linkara.

Bobbadelic considering half of the writing duo wrote Gurren Lagann and i think also Kill La Kill, well...

KR Fourze was written by the guy who also wrote Gurren Lagann.

Kamen Rider songs are the best
I don't know if believable is the best description of Fourze.
well believable armor at least, makes more sense for it to be bulky and thick as opposed to skin tight spandex looking armor.
Interesting fact: if that second rider has blue as the main color and based on a Knight, that Rider will be treated like a punching bag in the show.
Even Len?
Well, only at the early stage of the show. And, Hiiro also became really powerful later in the show and proved to be a bad-ass. For Kaito................. I am not going to say anything.
I think what Linkara meant is that the shows mostly focus on a single protagonist as opposed to a team.
And by most, you mean *every season after Kuuga,* right?
I'm hoping you can review Ultraman. More specifically, Ultraman Orb or Ultraman Geed.
So many times during this whenever a joke was made I had to pause the video and proclaim "Well... YOU'RE NOT WRONG!"
I've only ever heard it pronounced FOUR-ZAY, and that includes by Die-Hard Kamen Rider Fans, so who even knows.
THIS^ it is literally said in the open song so I have no idea how it could be mispronounced by anyone who has watched it.
Fourze remains one of my favorite Kamen Riders because they use the Power of Friendship late in the series, but as an actual power and not a cop out, with weaknesses and everything
wow the new forza game is weird
So Dragon Knight WAS canceled, i knew it! Now granted i never watched Ryuuki but i know a few things about it and DK was...Not that good from what i remember. Not as bad as Masked Rider sure but still
2:22 No. Zero in Japanese is not pronounced Zee-Roh, it's pronounced Zeh-Roh. Hence Four-Zeh and not Four-Zah
6:44 No, that's a different Rider down the line
