I've noticed that the people who most strongly insist on preference for Mass said in the vernacular (and for the priest facing the people) are barely Catholic -- many don't attend Mass except for funerals or special occasions, don't go to Confession, are often in adulterous living arrangements (and mock the need for annulment hearings), yet brazenly get in line for Communion. Those that do attend Mass even regularly quite often support some aspect of teaching contrary to the Church. Many are even quite Protestant in their outlook and behavior, treating the break for the Sign of Peace as a chance to catch up socially (I wish they would get rid of that -- our Lord is on the altar, He should be our focus! The transition is so awkward -- any teacher can tell you that transitions are always difficult to manage. The most sensible time for a Sign of Peace is before the Mass begins, before we recall our sins; that would be more in line with the spirit of the practice, which is supposedly to reflect the Gospel, "If you remember that you have anything against your brother, leave your gift at the altar and go make peace with him"). I'm not sure that a return to TLM would draw more people to Mass, but the NO certainly doesn't. I've never attended a TLM, but I hope to, if I can afford the fuel and necessary car repairs to make the 40 minute one way trip.
I think that Latin should be a choice of language courses. Once in a while, should given a Latin mass. I wish people would come. I participated to many mass choir, we use to sing many time Latin Gregorian. Concerts are given in Latin,... In my parents time were given Latin masses. Though, those years of "Fast food", "Fast..."in everything, more and more should be given deeper sense in sacred and prayers, with the hope of developing sens of beauty and tranquility. Arts, as Music should always be encourage. I really like those beautiful pictures of those churches; Byblos and hornemanse. I like to see priest with their beautiful dress. I wish to understand why so much different colours in their dresses. I really believe we are loosing the sens of tradition because of our daily duties. We don't take time or, also because of the churches being busy also, Christians have to make the effort, to push their interest to know more. But, also spiritually, "Our daily bread" as to be given. Cultivating our faith through Arts, Culture, Music (Classical music) that were inspired by those who were spiritually inspired to compose or to paint for the eyes or the ears. Churches should be inspirational, of course. Arts and Activities should sharp our interests. Through it, with prayers, "inspiration for" Bible lessons, Church tradition lessons (I wish), and Latin. Today, I was reading another article churches being put for sales. As everywhere, there is "restructuring" periods. There are Churches to be protected, others "to be accessible". But, "The Church of Christ" is human believers in Christ, And I believe through Faith and Tradition. I feel sad when I hear Churches being sold, or demolished. But, building are getting old or not safe,... At least, if we know our tools, and use them; Encouraging Arts, Wisdom (Knowledge: Course of our Tradition, Bible, Latin...), Encouraging Faith through inspirations... I really believe that Fasting and Prayers is really powerful. I am aware that the world is not "turning round"... We learn a lot from the internet, sharing, etc. But, with prayers, more devotion to Mary, solution will be brought in front of our eyes. Unity in prayers, with some "candies" as the desire of learning Latin and speaking it. All of it would be great. The goal is not necessarily final end of obtaining all but, that people are having the desire, inspiration of those objectives, to "start the walk" through those objectives; the desire of "step by step" toward and common goal. This I would be calling "Desiring the Holy Spirit" in our flesh... Take care God Bless!!
I go to Spanish and Vietnamese masses when English is not avail. Went to 1st Latin mass yday...this was much more easy to follow than so or Viet. And will get easier. And did not see anyone on e device when I got up for Holy Communion as in nuevo ordo.mass

This priest knows how to teach. I have always wondered why people advocate for a Latin Mass and he did a good job justifying. However, Vatican II in the vernacular is all I've known. I can read the Bible in my own language; I can worship in my own language and know what I'm saying. But from what little research I've done, Protestant church leaders had dictates when the Mass went from Latin to say, English. Why would anyone let Protestants touch anything Catholic? They should have had several Catholic academics pour over the original Latin texts, reflect on it, then translate. Instead, they assembled a messy hodge-podge for the 1960s or 70s; then in 2010, they decide it needs tweaking. If it had been done properly the first time, it wouldn't have to be reworked. Sorry about the rant. One question: if John XXIII recognized the reason for universal language, why did the Mass get translated?
agreed. disgusting that Protestants had a say in designing the Novus Ordo. and we didn't need it anyway - besides, every church had translations in the missal already.
the use of Latin was to have a common religious/church language. being a 'dead' language - the meanings of the words didn't change and morph with common every day use - very important to keep the church teachings unified and unchanging. next, after discarding the Latin Mass, the mass has became a social club; the mass a piece of pantomime that HAS to make the audience happy. not to mention the priest being front and center and the Tabernacle - Dwelling of God - put to the side! in my church, stupid people CLAP after the homily!! and after the dismal hymns. UGH!!!!'

To anyone who appreciates the content of this presentation, I warmly recommend listening to Father Gregory Hesse on youtube, an eminent catholic priest who spent much of his life studying theology. He logically relates and gives reasoned and substantiated arguments why the novus ordo missae is not only an illicit-, but also an invalid ritual.

Once you go TLM (not just out of curiosity, but truly looking for a reverent Liturgy), you can’t go back. 🙏🏻
