King and Friedman actually work together really well. And it feels like they mutually respect each other although their styles and skills are very different. Friedman's improvisatory, bendy, ridiculously fast soloing over King's crunchy, hardcore, ridiculously fast riffing is amazing. Such a cool era when King (Slayer) played in Megadeth for a bit, and of course Mustaine was in Metallica at the start... these three bands really were related branches of one family. Marty's solo over 'Dissident Aggressor' is just phenomenal...
Yeah Marty is great. Exotic scales & modes. Kerry is probably better at rhythm. Saw some of the 1st gogs when Marty was in Mega. They opened for Priest. Marty had a lil trouble w/ the rhythms. He had to cut his solos a note or 2 short to get back in w/ the chords. The Mega stuff is hard. Like the jazz fusion of Thrash metal.

Marty is incredible. If you don't play guitar, you don't understand the technical prowess and thorough understanding of music theory along with pure creative talent necessary to play solos off the top that accent the songs perfectly.
Unless they're songs he's already familiar with, that use shapes he's already familiar with. In which case he's 90% of the way there and eyeballing is mostly a way of confirming the memory and insight aspects.
