Read my first copy in 1982. Excellent stories with my favourite character being Nakor, whom you don't meet until a few books later. While I was aware these books were born from an RPG setting, I wasn't aware this was available for the rest of us to obtain for use in our own game. Thank you for this.

Midkemia Press are woefully bad at promoting themselves. I'm glad they've started showing up on DriveThru - that was a fairly recent thing. They do deserve more recognition than they have.

Gosh, I must have read at least up to Prince of the Blood but long ago donated the books. His standalone Fairy Tale book is really good. I recently got the Cities supplement from Midkemia and find it to be an outstanding supplement for any OSR game (including the 0e retroclone I released in Dec). Anyway, thanks for this video. I had no idea Feist came out of a D&D gaming group.

Cities is brilliant. I mean, it's not the prettiest thing going, but especially if you combine it with Paul Vernon's society designing articles from early White Dwarf, it really does provide a mechanical way to build - just add flavour!

I use Midkemia Cities in every D&D (or clone) game to this day. For my money, the best book of city encounters on the market.

Absolutely no argument there from me! 🙂

Great video. I was planning on doing a "reverse Feist" in my Tekumel game (which was riddled like Swiss cheese by nexus points to other worlds) by having forces from Midkemia invade. Sadly, it came to a sudden end a couple of years ago, after 99 sessions, when certain unsavory details came to light. I actually considered replacing Tekumel with Kelawan, but there just isn't enough gameable information out there to make it significantly easier than just making my own world. Plus, the agents of the Omnipotent Azure Legion are everywhere and I would not want to draw their attention.

Even the atlas doesn't go into Kelewan to any extent - yes, it's even worse than Midkemia for info. I like the reverse Feist idea, though!
I have Tékumel on my "to do" list for this series. Still haven't quite worked out how to get through those unsavoury details you refer to - but it is an important world in the annals of RPGing. One will find a way, Omnipotent Azure Legion be damned!

With both US and UK elections going on, I'd be happy with that.
