This is the most beautiful thing that I have ever heard. Especially when the singer is completely alone. I cry every time I listen to this. Hard to believe that a mortal could create such beautiful music. I almost can't believe it myself. The soprano is something that could only have been created by God himself. Thank you Mozart - I don't know where we would be without you.

Not really, despite all of his art, he died in the most bad conditions you can imagine, common grave etc... Not respectful, not matching with his creative genius. Mozart "the great".

Of all of Mozart's works this one every single time raises the hackles of my spine, makes my hair stand on end and fill my eyes with tears. EVERY SINGLE TIME. This opening Kyrie is in my opinion the greatest single piece of music in any medium. It will never be surpassed.

The only slight slight slight criticism I would have offered LB here is that the tempo is dragging a little. This piece catches air when it's maybe 5% faster. It just sounds a tiny bit ponderous when done this slowly.

She is absolutely perfect for this MOST incredible piece of music! K427 is one of the world's most transporting, inspired masterpieces and this opening section may be its pinnacle. Bernstein's tempo seemed a little on the slow side at first, rather heavy-handed, but Auger filled every moment with her full lyric sound, yet with that incredible detailed filigree. I'll sleep in peace tonight!

I usually prefer performances from smaller orchestras with original instruments, baroque phrasing, but this is still the best performance I´ve yet seen live or recorded. Such a vitality from Mr. Bernstein and M. Auger. AWESOME.

A little explanation to understand better such a great composition: Kyrie Eleison are Greek words for "Lord have mercy upon us". In the Catholic mass these words are said 3 times: one for the Lord Father (the firts Kyrie Eleison), another for the Lord Son (Christe Eleison), and the last one for the Lord Holly Spirit. Note how the music change every time the pray change of Lord. Hope my English had been enough clear for this explanation. GBY all!

@Jitpring: Anyone with a soul who isn't devoid of human emotion can appreciate this beautiful music. I would, however, point out that only Catholics can transcend an ordinary appreciation of the music and fully embrace the sacredness of both the music and text. It's no accident that the greatest of composers were Roman Catholic. Ad majorem Dei gloriam!
