I loved the garden video Renee! You have inspired me to try some Dipladenias in my garden here in California. I really liked the red flowers too. I have always loved sunset colors in my garden, reds, oranges, yellows, etc. Looking forward to your up coming planting video! 🌹

My favorites are geraniums...they love lots of sunshine & do well in planters. So, I love planting them in pots on my deck. Plus, they come in beautiful different colors. I purchase red, white, pink & purple ones. What a sweet dog. 👍🐶😍 & a sweet cat. 👍🐱😍 Look at sweet Pollux taking his new Bee 🐝 out to the yard. 🐶😍

I love the look on Pollux's face when you tell him he can't take his toy outside. He was really debating whether to run with it or be a good boy and come inside. Of course he chose to be a good boy! 😂🥰🥰

I love Blue Plumbago which is a ground dweller and grows fast.
Love Purple Iris a perennial so they come back each year. Love fern baskets too.
P.S. your hair looks fantastic to me (since my hair is super straight and blonde naturally..) And...I LOVE the color. I'd give anything to have that color naturally.
I remember your flowers from last year and they do look so pretty and red around pool area. Have a great evening and a yummy dinner. Thanks for taking us along to the Nursery. Loved seeing the kitties and doggies 🐾🐾🐾🐾

    Love y'all so much!
The Amaryllis bloomed not yesterday but the day before. 4 big pretty stalks in their planter. I wanna break up the bulbs so I have two I planters that bloom but they are my 70 year old husband's mother's bulbs and he planted them. I actually had beautiful Blooming Sage one blue and one white but he wanted the planter for the Amaryllis and the Sage didn't make it a year in the ground boohoo. When will he listen to me? Never that's the answer to that one. Haha 😄.
Your Diplodenia are beautiful! Here in Rio Grande Valley we see more often the climber Mandevillea and Bougainvillea but latter of those two has huge thorns that turn hard as spikes and can flatten a riding lawn mower tire in a second.
The yellow Mandevillea is my absolute favorite. We also have here in the valley during
April and May blooming, Orange Blossoms, Grapefruit Blossoms and Honeysuckle Vines. After a cool spell and light rain the next warm day they pop and then that evening after their nectar's been warming up all day...the citrus scent on the ocean breezes are heavenly.
I forgot to say, you may be a little young to build your greenhouse for your tropicals and veggies but something to look forward to so you can buy your diplodenias without worry how early they arrive and retirement gardening!

Your hair always looks beautiful to me, no matter what the circumstance.
We’ve been having weird weather here in SA also, cold and rainy (which we desperately need) then humid and in the mid nineties other days. The wind has been constant and sometimes very high but I’m thankful nothing drastic like tornadoes or floods.
The nursery is beautiful with cute additions of cats and dog.

I have 2 Dipladenias and they are 3 years old. I live in Central California so we are Zone 9. If I see we will have frost...usually January, February and sometimes March, I pop a large, heavy paper "bonnet" over them and they survive the frost. Have a Rose Dupont Mandevilla that I have babies for about 4 years. It is close to the house so is protected more from the frost. The rest of my yard is roses...my favorites...geraniums in pots and several hanging from the porch. Are weather has been crazy as we had 90° degrees, then last week we had a day in the 60's where we had extreme rain downpours, large hail and even frost!!...the frost did a number on the vineyards in an area north of us and the hail wiped out a large portion of the cherry crop that is northeast of us....yesterday it was 84°here...enjoy your Mother's Day gift and making your yard pretty!!...hugs to Maxie and Pollux!!

Bauganvillas are a common everyday plant in fla. They come in purples or reds and (yellows I think) usually. They are threatening tonight or tomorrow night as low as 27 degrees in the east ky. At night 😬my apple trees are blooming and cherry did already and blueberries. Fla and ky are hard on sinus. To see those two at the door is to smile. 🙂

I have the vines type in pots and ground in my backyard. Live in South Ca. They have been in same pots for around 15 years. Apparently they love to be pot bounded. . All year long blooms except maybe a couple months in winter. Right now they are very full of new blooms . White and pink colors . They get no special attention. Love them!

I live in central Florida near the Atlantic coast and the Dipladenia plant is very common here and last all year. I'm surprised you didn't know what a bougainvillea plant is. With your trips to Mexico I would think you might have seen them there? They have thorns on them, but are quite beautiful. The vibrant blooms are not flowers at all; they are called "bracts" which is a modified leaf of sorts.

Going to the nursery in spring is one of the highlights of my year. I have a list that I've had for 20yrs and always buy the same things to plant in the same places every year. My nursery has a sale every year the third weekend of April and I checked my 10day forecast before going ahead and getting everything planted the last couple of days. So good to be out digging in the yard and planters after the winter. I've probably seen Dipladenias at nursery but just didn't know what they were. I will have to add some to my list for next year. They're such a fun word to say!

Your dipladenias are beautiful! I get the same issues with sinus problems too.. We struggle with constant changing weather as well here in Missouri & always say...if u don't like the weather today, just wait till tomorrow cuz it'll be different! Lol I just planted a new purple clematis vine to go up a trellis.. Also some yellow Daylily plants, they're my favorite. I also have Lilac bushes that are blooming & elephant ears that are coming up..love Spring time!! 🌼🌷🌼🌷🌼🌷🌼

Hey yes I was going to plant a dipladenia on my back patio but I may want to get a mandevilia instead . I want it to climb on something! But anyway, can’t wait to see yours planted

I wonder if they would have Diplidenias at a store like Lowes? (closest to my house) I will have to look! They are beautiful and sound "hard to kill" for a person that has a "brown thumb" like me! Your hair always looks good, no matter the weather. And yes, here in Virginia we have crazy weather too along with sinus problems too - thank heavens for Flonaise!

Hi Missy! I don't purchase plants at Lowes simply because of the quality. Anything I have ever purchased there doesn't grow well or doesn't bloom. I strictly purchase from a local plant nursery now....and the plants are much better quality.

@@WelcomeToMyCurls Wow, maybe my thumb isn't so brown after all - everything I've gotten has been from Lowes/Home Depot and the plants don't seem to thrive under my care :0

Thanks for the explanation of the difference between the Dipladenia and Mandavilla! When I first started watching the video and you showed them on the cart, I thought, "that's a Mandavilla." I'm in south FL, and I only know of the Mandavilla, I didn't know there was another type. They are beautiful, I've had them before--even had one that was a brownish color called a 'chocolate' Mandavilla, and it did have a chocolate smell!!
    Thanks for the informative video.

I get so stressed and overwhelmed going to the greenhouse. So many pretty things. I should just buy the same thing every year. We decided to buy hanging strawberry plants this year. Gee, that was easy. Thanks Renee.

I love dipladenias too. We plant them every summer. They're pretty easy to find in Chicago. I think I've even bought them at Home Depot.

Your yard and landscaping is beautiful and the dipladenias are the perfect choice, I think! I used to choose red geraniums edged with double impatiens - sometimes white and sometimes in an alternating diagonal candy cane stripe made of white and red double impatiens - to boxer my front walk and a courtyard by my side door which was actually on the front of my house. They were partial shade and full sun respectively, but needed to be cohesive and those always worked. And I love red flowers against the green of the leaves and the grey of concrete areas. Different zoning, so those won’t work here.
I think I need to take a trip to my nursery in the couple of days and have a look. I have a couple of spots that your dipladenias would look perfect in! I’m hopeful that being in Zone 8, they’ll overwinter just fine outside. We do get cold, but perhaps if I covered them, they’d do just fine! Worth a try, anyway!

Here in Northern Illinois we can't put our annuals out until after May 15th. We've had frost as late as May 18th. So I usually try to get my husband to wait to put the tomatoes until after the 18th. I love your red flowers around the pool, they look beautiful. My husband says my flowers on the deck or Overkill but what's not to love about Overkill?

Last wk, I saw massive loads of them in different sz containers at the Home Depot. east coast, I’m seeing them in all the nurseries as well. glad you were able to get 7! Love how you stuck to one color for continuity. area with the 3cute black planters might look good with the vining mandevilla as well. Those bougainvilleas would also vine and look stunning there but they can be thorny. Not good for your babies.

I usually plant pretty red or deep orange large size Geraniums in my 3 planters. One on my front stoop and two either side of the garage.

I live in St. Augustine, Florida and discovered Diplodenia last year and planted them on my 2nd story deck. They have trailed down like a vine, not a lot, but some. They have grown and have bloomed for a year straight! Recently I thought I should water them more, so I did….big mistake! All of a sudden they are dropping blossoms and the plant has thinned out significantly! 😫😫😫
