Here in interlude it says "former demon hunter", but Illidan in Legion is still demon hunter, leading Blood Elf and Night Elf players who chose his class and jailing Sargeras on Titan spaceship. Either it's a retcon, or devs forgot that Illidan is retired from his job. Also funny how Kil'jaeden's portrait literally has Disease Cloud on him, to give impression that he is on fel fire. He looks more demonic than Archimonde, who is basically just oversized Eredar with cool jewelry.
Archimonde is a front line commander, tasked with conquest of worlds. Pit lords serve directly under Archimonde. Kil'jaeden is a back line commander, tasked with espionage and recruiting other races to join the Burning Legion. Dreadlords serve directly under Kil'jaeden. The real world equivalent would be like the military vs the spy agency. This is why there is petty rivalry between the two branches of the Burning Legion. As exemplified by the banter between Mannoroth and Tichondrious. From their appearances, you would think it's the other way round. Kil'jaeden looks more menacing than Archimonde. Maybe they purposely made it this way to subvert expectations.
To me, my headcannon is Archimonde is the stronger Eredar Demon Lord when it comes to Brute Force while Kil'jaeden has the superior Magic and Manipulation skills.
yeah... it would be great if they expanded this campaign in reforged... 6 regular mission, 2 of them are pretty much the same map, one of them can be completed in under 10 minutes and 1 bonus tower defense mission... and it's such an important campaign for warcraft lore
It's very strange to me that, in the flashback in this interlude, Illidan is his original night elf self, even though it's explicitly after he consumes the skull and becomes a demon. Anyone know any lore than I don't, here?
I assume he was only partway through having demonic features. Not really clear when he met the demon of how long has it been since he absorbed the skull. Just imagine suddenly growing large horns, wings and having your feet turn into hooves. Would've been painful if it was near instant transformation.
Nerzhul's plan was to escape from the Frozen Throne by possessing Arthas, but prior to WotLk it was Arthas that erased Nerzhul from his mind and became the Lich King alone.
Also Kil'jaeden is more OP in actual Warcraft. In Turnro's, he just started off as a Lieutenant of the Legion and through cunning, he eventually usurped the Demon Lord position.
Beta is a big mess now and only pvp. Lots of bugs and it's generally unenjoyable when doing a larger skirmish, cause there is no way to distinguish units. Even when I was creeping a bigger pack of mobs , I didn't know which ones are my units and which ones are mobs, so I just relied on my portrait panel and tried to Holy light/ move out my units that way.
Its bit ironic how they have hatred towards scourge/undead and wants them destroyed but they have no problem working for the demon lord who was responsible for creation of lich king in the first place who also unleashed the scourge in the first place...
I think Hard Mode just speeds up enemy production. Just crowd control and try to keep at least one hero alive and kill Maiev everytime she comes your way. IMO this is the easiest Frozen Throne level. Even in Hard, it's easy and I never lost control of the cage too.
Normal Mode of this was too easy. My allies and I destroy Maiev's Whole Base. Hard still easy for me. Just use all skills to stay alive once you've killed Maiev once and took control of the cage. Once Maiev comes back, just kill her again. Doesn't matter if the Nightelves overrun your allies, without Maiev, they can't retake the Cage.
Be careful about what you put on Illidan during the campaign because they carry over into the last undead mission. I beefed him up so much the first time I was doing the campaign, he was very difficult to kill

I think illidan is illidan with a demon hunter army. He is not really a demon hunter anymore.
Illidan is more "demon" than "hunter" at this point.
Illidan is the misunderstood Anti-Hero and is considered Chaotic Good in Legion.

its been criticized before. Blizzard just forgot the timeline and mistakingly put the wrong version of illidan in the cutscene
