If you got a chrome pipe all you need is wire wool & soapy water chrome is tougher then wire wool & won’t mark! Tip, make sure it’s very soapy wash( soap is your best friend)off & buff up with your fav polish!

I've been trying to come up with a way of removing some melted nylon from my pipes. I'd never thought of oven cleaner but will take a trip to the store today for some of that plus steel wool and chrome polish. I like the copper coin idea as well. Thanks X1000!

I used the chopstick/wood/paint-stirrers method but rather than running the bike I used a hot air gun.

@@mglmouser thanks for the tip. I happen to have a couple of paint stirring paddles in my shop and I'll give them a try.

Trying this technique this weekend on my bike. I think I may run it for a few minute first to get the pipe warm. Wish me luck.

Only use OOOO steel wool! What about using a brass/copper./plastic brush instead of steel wool?

If your bike has any aluminium do not use oven cleaner because if you get oven cleaner on an aluminium part such as the engine block of a dirt bike it will corrode it really badly

Get the exhaust hot by running the engine for a bit and shut off engine. Wipe the area with a cotton, non blend towel. This will remove most of the gunk, after the exhaust cools use goo gone to remove any remaining grime.

Just use a S.O.S pad the round ones with the detergent already in it and some water.
Less items, less time, it will not scratch as long as your not haulking it to hard.
    Cost you $2

I think I put my bike cover on before letting the bike cool down completely

Going to try this on my one day old Borla "ATAK" exhaust with melted plastic. Who the Hell puts plastic on the bottom fender of a truck. Thanks for the Vid.

Def put on some nitrile gloves. You don't want that oven cleaner soaking into your skin. Do that over a lifetime with various chemicals and it can cause nasty health issues. Be safe brother!

@@Englshman1970 I tape off the spot I’m about to blast with WD40. Let it sit for 5 mins and then get to work on it… if that doesn’t work, heat up your pipes for about 3 mins and apply wd40 again and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
