Hi! Thanks for this interesting question. I think it is possible to become a synchro coach without being a professional athlete. Many good coaches (also in other sports) have been training in recreational groups but then decided to learn how to coach from very good and renovated coaches, which led them to be excellent coaches themselves. Proper training, coaching experience, and perseverance will lead to great results!
