Long Halloween is definitely my favorite Bat book. I didn't see the twist at first, but after re-reading I did find there are a few things that allude to Gilda being the killer throughout the book that I didn't pick up on the first time.
Okay, so, my take of it was that Harvey was the first holiday killer, buy he stopped at one point, but his wife continued the killings. Falcone was a red herring, and only taking credit. Carmine never thought he could be anything, but now? He's the Holiday Killer.
Zander Ford I can buy that. The evidence was certainly stacking up for Harvey being the killer, but then I feel like they twisted it to Gilda just for the shocking switcheroo. Not sure if it all adds up.
Damn Dave did Spider-Man take your lunch money as a kid? What’s your beef ? Great episode boys . I agree this is a great book with a Unsatisfying ending .
Dylan Wheeler I never paid attention before but Commando was a movie my brothers and I watched over and over on VHS in the 80's, has some of the cheesiest and yet funniest quotes ever. A real classic, screened it for my boys, they loved it too...
Pete Marquez yeah, those steel drums used throughout are also great. Though Backdraft was terribly acted - I still love quoting it in Howie Longs accent “Yer walkin straight into a back fahr!”
I bought this a long time ago but never read it, I got it cause the artwork looked different and I liked it. Great breakdown as always, you guys cracked me up more than once, that's what makes it enjoyable. Y'all throw out some zingers so quickly that you've got to be on your toes or you'll miss them completely. And as a side note, yes, first they want you home to start a family, then you're working nights to support said family, then it's "I feel like a single parent, you're always at work or always asleep!" Sheesh!
I quite enjoy The Long Halloween, although The Joker section does get a bit silly. But it's a comic, what can you expect? I also feel like Jeph Loeb is similar to Ken Levine of Bioshock fame, he's good at creating a setting and an interesting story. But he's quite weak with endings. Also Dave, can't go without dressing up lol. Great work guys!
hahahahahha. Batman and Robin just chilling drinking beer! One of my favorite bat stories. I still and will probably always prefer Batman stories with detective elements in it compared to the big blockbuster ones. btw Calender Man knew it all from the start. Reread the Calender Man scene. Gilda was the original holiday killer.
buggydes I don’t know about that Calendar Man theory. He seemed pretty wishy washy. I think he was just grasping... then again, I’ve been drinking. So who knows what’s what?
Imperius Rex it’s definitely worth the read. Not to give anything away but it really justifies cat women’s motives in Long Halloween and even adds poignancy as well.
This one of the best Batman stories of all time. In my own mind I link this with not only Year One but the Dark Knight Returns to make the perfect Batman trilogy dealing with the start, middle and end of the Batmans life.
i absolutely love this story! going to have to re-read it some time soon. to possibly help with the Carmine Falcone pronunciation, just think how you'd say Al Capone, or Sylvester Stallone. ey! ....fugetaboutit.
I read this over about a week and a half and it was pretty good, but I think the Long Halloween was a bit too long. I think the same story could probably have been told in a book about half as long. Also the ending did feel quite wabblely. Other than that its a fun Batman story.
Loeb's best work. Sale rocks.
Gregor Black hard agree.
Spider-Man: Blue....."he needed the money..."

Johnny Athey we need evidence Johnny. Page numbers and panels!

Another Loeb/Sale masterpiece is Superman For All Seasons, which I think is one of the best Supes' stories ever written
Batman is Batman 100 percent of the time even during jury duty! #batyear
Hell yeah! Long ears Long Halloween!
The perfect ratio.
Great discussion! This comic was my second purchase after Punk Rock Jesus and started my love for Batman comics. What a book!
Damn Dave did Spider-Man take your lunch money as a kid? What’s your beef ? Great episode boys . I agree this is a great book with a Unsatisfying ending .
Kevin Hylton haha- no- we just noticed a while back that we have somehow never done any spider-man episodes and decided to make that a running joke.
Imperius Rex we need you guys dressed as Spider-Man and Mary Jane !!
Kevin Hylton shit. You may have just sold me.
Oh boy.
Troy needs to be MJ!
Oh snap! The Long Halloween. I've been looking forward to this episode. Never read this but I've always wanted to check it out.
Haviidthewise the place is here. The time is now!
Jeph wrote the screenplays for Commando and Back Draft
Legendary

Pete feels for Harvey. He's just trying to support his family!
Yea I love this book it was one of the first Batman books I ever read this and the animated series is what made me love Batman

Some Okie Dude yeah- Joker in the biplane might’ve been my least favorite part of the book.
Imperius Rex I also hate Sale’s design. It’s like Liefeld with muscles, what’s going on with Joker’s teeth Tim?
Some Okie Dude I don’t mind Batman. Stylistically I’m okay with it. Joker is a bit of a stretch. Takes me out of it.
Imperius Rex oh yeah, his Batman’s a lot better.

They also did cat women “when in Rome” which ends this run that starts here with “ the long halloween” which I thought was real good
john Carlos grabbed this digitally a while back. Been waiting to read it!
Imperius Rex it’s definitely worth the read. Not to give anything away but it really justifies cat women’s motives in Long Halloween and even adds poignancy as well.
Apologies to dinosaurneil for stealing Hush from him

Salvatore Maroni has the "i" at the end of his name.
so that you would pronounce the "E" sound.
like Téa Leoni.
Always looking out for us.

Ayy! I'M WALKIN' 'ERE!
