It is sooo amazing how after a year of watching y'all how much of us think of y'all as family!!! I can speak for alot of folks and say we love y'all and as the Irish say keep the wind on your back the sun on your face and the wings of destiny carry you to dance with the stars!!!
Geez Louise you have me all misty eyed. We appreciate this sooooo much! Comments like this make us feel all mushy inside and light our way! Thank you for being a lighthouse!
OMGEEEEEEE We had the same thing happen. They were submerged and calling us on the radio saying to stay clear they were surfacing 😳😆 You can only imagine my panic
Just wanted to thank you. You inspired me when I had a moment of doubt …just before pulling the 3ym20s out of our catamaran. Had to make way for the electric motors! As of today my wife and I have carried both engines and an 8kw generator off the boat (yes, she is wicked strong, but we couldn’t put it over our shoulder like Beau! 😂) We’d love to give you a tour next time you’re in Oriental, NC. If not, we’ll see you “out there” in a year or so. Hoping to get the electric motor mounts fitted this week. 👍 Btw…our last electric conversion was a 1974 Pearson 36. We loved that boat! Your videos bring back wonderful memories. Thank you!
aww you guys are great thank you! wishing you MUCH success on the cat conversion, can't wait to hear how it turns out! can't say we will be heading North again, but who knows. BUT there is always OUT HERE !
As much as I love the idea of sailing, it's being out in the elements that deters me from going Full Sail. I'll stick with my eCats where the weather is always a comfortable 75*
Hi guys! We recently sailed from Norfolk to St Augustine Florida. We froze our butts off too until we finally made it to Florida. Nice and warm now. We are continuing south down to Key West. Hope we run into you guys at some point, not literally. Great video. Thank you.
Enjoyed watching your refit from 6 years ago. Just jumped to this new video and see you were very close to me. Would have love the chance to meet you when you were in town. I cant believe how far you have come with both experience and the boat. That thing looked like hell when you got it. Hats off to Beau.. don't know what his background is but mine is In boat building (worked for Chris Craft) and boat dealerships as a Mercury tech and doing fiberglass repair. That is allot of work. I do hope you got to check out the Air and Space Museum you guys anchored next to. PS: Yes the war ships are a bit direct being in such close proximity to private traffic that if you were at see they would likely shoot at you. After all right there is the shipyard where they build the massive nuclear aircraft carriers and subs. Hi Tec Stuff so they are moody.
Avoiding submarines is a very good plan. Especially in a channel or port area. A submarine must maintain 'headway' aka enough speed to maneuver. I was crew on the USS George Bancroft SSBN 643. We were entering Port Canaveral, harbor and were just inside the channel, when a sailboat lost power and turned providing us with a broadside. That sail boat ended up sliding up our fordeck and hitting the superstructure. The captain of the sailboat was at fault.
Very cool to see Norfolk from another vantage point. My ship was home-ported there and I made more trips in and out of that channel than I can remember. Always dolphins. You guys had some serious chop in there! Showing some love to your sponsors in this video. Lanex is missing out! 😉
Y’all will luv the roller furling system! U can have ur sails modified 4 furling way cheaper than new sails! I saved $1,000’s over cost of new sails! 👍❤️
Windy for weather and navionics for routing. We have a radar but never have really used it much. And we do have a garmin chart plotter as a backup to navigation.
Seems freezing cold, like my side of the Atlantic. Went out sailing the other day, and the ice removed my anti fouling in a two inch belt. What have you done to the man, no hair, no beard ? He is freezing!
@@BeauAndBrandy Thought so. Tell him that in a 40 years time he could be looking like me. Remindes me, when I was about 4 yrs old, I was home alone for an hour or so. Found a pair of sissors and cut my hair. Tore pages out of my Pinoccoio book and hid the hair behind the sofa. My mother went ballistic. Hid my head under a hat, mid summer, and across the street to a barber that finished off the job I had started.
Years ago we were heading in to Norfolk and could see the guards with machine gums to starboard. A cruise ship approached us leaving Norfolk. As it approached, we were required to maintain a distance of 500 yards from both the Navy Yard and the cruise ship. Unfortunately, the channel was less than 1000 yards. The navy boat with guns approached us and told us to move but couldn’t tell us where to go. I told them that was the cruise ships fault as we were there first.
Sometimes it makes more sense for us to add power to the bank than have more speed. But we have also done this and measures and the change in speed is pretty negligible.

holy macaroni!! thankfully ours was above the water and when we zoomed in, there were like 15 people standing on top of it! lol.
I hope you both get to warmer temps without any problems. Smooth sailing!!
well lets see about that lol. (foreshadowing)

You guys are bold, lots of the ICW is really narrow, no tacking at all!
so cool seeing all the Navy ships and hearing them talk on your radio.....safe sailing friends :)
Very cool to see the ships and sharing the same proximity with a sub. Busy place for sure. Hopefully you’ve found warmer water.
Ahhh, the boat life.... Great job guys.
Loved your video - cute & comforting. Do stay safe & warm.

Where you guys at?!
We are in St Augustine Florida heading towards Cape Canaveral tomorrow morning.
Where are you guys?
Iced Taco salad? OMG, you guys need a thick Irish Stew with dumplings 🙂
Oooh that sounds tasty!

One of your best episodes! The Navy ships really were cool!
Thanks a bunch!!
I hate that stretch from Norfolk to Morehead City. We’ll be going outside for our run north in April.
it sure is a doozy. we would have definitely rather have gone on the outside, but conditions wouldn't let up.
The railway bridge is controlled from somewhere far away, I think it was Atlanta.
Or Australia 😂😂😂
Marvelous!
Thanks for posting. I always enjoy your travels
Thank you so much for tuning in!! :)
.....and howdy from the High Sierra! still cold here too but, our first full sunny day in two weeks!
Hey guys!! Hope it’s a nice sunny warm sail for ya!

Brrrr it looks like a very chilly sail.... swamp mode sounds interesting! 😂
Oh man!! Completely different than what we thought it would be!
Try the st John's river it's nice trip to lake george
Thanks guys for yet another great vid stay safe from Denmark 🇩🇰
I spent ten years going to sea on the submarines right there in Norfolk. I still get all puffy traveling through that entrance..
That’s super cool! Would love to get one one and see what it’s like.
Love it when you sad; get me south :) Thanks for a nice vid.
US TOO! lol
It is so cool to see TH-camrs anchored in my town, I hope Hampton was good to you!
It was one of our favorite anchorages!
Norfolk is awesome, I live in Norfolk.
we do wish we could have explored more!

I think the dolphins didn’t like the sub! 😂 we sadly didn’t get to see them!
What an adventure!
Always something new!!
I love watching you too Maggie Manchester UK 🇬🇧 xx
Well that was an eventful vlog!! 🤗💞
it was definitely up there in the books!
With as much time that you two have spent sailing in the tropics I was wondering if you had warm clothing for the cold weather of the Northeast.
We gathered as we went! Thank goodness for our pals at Dakota batteries for the heavier foul weather jackets! They saved our lives.
You guys look happier in ybis video. Cheers
getting closer south lol

You two have been sailing Saoirse for some time now. Have you ever considered a project like Ship Happens or Flying Coney ?...
wow, those are some interesting projects. BIG ones. can't say we are up for a long refit project.
Some bridges don't let us pass under sail alone. You lucked out.
Wow Sailor great episode,❤
Looks like the belt on the autopilot is misaligned on the motor side. Might cause some issues.
Shiver me timbers.
Norfolk is my boat backyard
sure is an eventful backyard!
An interesting video guys. That's a cool area. Seems like the bridge operator was not very good at clear communication.
'Love you, Highest Blessings
What are your go to apps to use when sailing? From checking weather radar to the winds? Or even to plot your course?

MORNING!! :)
@@BeauAndBrandyWere you guys doing this with Sailing Sunday??
@@dennispatrick4999we were a little ahead of them.

Skip to 15:30 for what you came here to see. The sub.

He’s done it to himself 😂

Sauerkraut & Eggs???? Should toss in a Budweiser or two.....You may get to see a few more submarines too, Charleston & Kings Bay....
Lol.

Love you guy! Clean-shaven Beau for the WiN. You're not too far from where I live. We Virginians pronounce it, "Norfuck." Really. Safe travels ❤
They are called Navy ships not war ship
Navy ships whose primary role is for combat are warships.

My wife is from Norfolk. You would probably like her.
Probably 😉. 🫶

Stow the anchor to put away. Anchor away to drop.

That's a perdy anchor.
she sure is a thing of beauty ain't she!
Heave to.
"Putting up a bigger sail...is a bad idea" But we did it anyway. What's the worst that could happen? LOL
haha. he didn't actually put up the bigger sail. but i can see why you would think it. since beau's favorite saying is "it''ll be fine"
