It's for the best really. This printer is hard to sell anyway to a non professional crowd like the Tabletop Time audience. Given its price and its proprietary resin cartridges, it's good chinese copy of the FormLabs 3, down to the material consumable locking. Thanks but no thanks.
If you do the traitors you can by some thin cloth/fabric and cut it to size for your traitor model. Cover your model with plastic wrap (to keep it from getting glue on it). Then soak the cloth in a mixture of water and white glue and drape it over the model. At this time you can take some straws and stick them up under the cloth and shape the cloth around them for dramatic curls and ripples. It will harden to that shape when it dries. At that point you can go in with small bits of green stuff to add more smaller ripples and curls and paint when cured. Once it is cured you should also be able to remove it from the model without issue so you can have an option of pre and post hersey. (Put tassels on the corners for 1 point of extra drama. Line the edges of the cloth with tassels for way more drama)
You could go old school for a statue with a tarp by printing the primarch and then using paper towel, pea and texture paint to make the tarp. I’ve been using that to make interesting cloaks and tarps over boxes for years
And if you only plan to keep it draped, the original model can be pared down to just the extremities the shroud will rest on and maybe the feet, leaving only an armature at the core, saving time/weight/material
it could be interesting yes to see the full hall, especially with giant cloth, that would make an impressive diorama. and you put it close to your epic scale city, to give the impression of it being really too big ^^
Btw in case any more lore-inclined hobbyists were curious, and a slight correction Right before the onset of the Siege of Terra, Alpha legion infiltrators snuck into the hall of heroes and blew up every statue except Rogal Dorn & Alpharius, the idea being to send a message to the Imperial Fists of who they were fighting. This all occurs in one of the last Heresy Novels, Praetorian of Dorn.
1. definitely make this into a series and fill the whole hall and build the hall as well 2. maybe do a (virtual?) collab with that crazy dude over at Zorpazorp building the imperial palace! Maybe print that hall of heroes at epic scale and send it over or something 😂
I really love this simple marbling effect! I would love a video down the line of a more complicated marbling effect. Stone statues is such a deep area of painting minis.
Would be kinda cool to see a diorama of the Primarchs. And saw Lizard of Doom use dried wet wipes. And made a nice material type effect. Might work pretty good for the shrouds. After you 3d print the primarchs.
On the covered traitor Primarchs - look up cloth draping. Find a nice tight weave fabric, soak in a white glue and water mixture - maybe add black paint to the mix - then drape the soaked cloth over the model. After it dries hard, it will take dry brushing fairly well.
Awesome job with this project! Would love to see all primarchs printed and painted. Would be a MASSIVE project like the titan board one you did but I can only imagine how awesome a “Hall of Heros” gaming board would be
I once saw a technique for painting marble that in my opinion looked a bit more interesting (sure, it was used to make marble floor for terrain, but I think it's applicable to statues) You take wet wipes leave it in the sun to dry and then start tearing them in multiple directions, then place the tear wipe on the surface of the mini and airbrush the colors that you want The random nature of the tearing makes it look great and less "premeditated" than doing the "veins" by hand. They also vary in thickness and instead of being mostly one line going in a direction you get lines that split into other lines. If you nail the colors it looks quite realistic and pretty
You should do the entire hall, but for the lost Primarchs, you should do the Primarch from the Table Top Time chapter you did with the McFarlane custom fireteam you did and an Astra Prime Ursa Primarch
no emptiness is better But it can be filled with the statues if you try to show what it used to look like before the first betrayal (but then they would have to be removable)
Those prints look great, really impressed with how far the technology has come in just a span of years. If you do decide to print up and make the whole diorama, instead of milliput or green stuff, perhaps some tp sprayed with watered down pva would work better and be less expensive, you'll get the drape you want too, since it will act more like cloth would.
Have you ever tried using the dryer sheet trick for marble? When used in conjunction with glazes it's AMAZING the results you can get in very short time.
The models are really cool and I love how you made them into statues. I’m not convinced by the marble effect, although I don’t know how I would have done it either. Can’t wait to see the next ones !
would love to see a full hall build. Sounds so cool and these prints look amazing. as for the drapes. why not just use a fabric to drape over the statues that are hidden. something light that can drape naturally. that way they could be removed to show the statues if needed for something else. maybe a little blue tack to hold it in place on like the head or such. Just a thought.
that would be awesome you should do all the primarchs even finding the 2 lost primarchs and you can do paper towel over them and then covering the paper towel in water downed pva glue and ity would give you the tarp techture
If you want to try with some traitor primarch, you could sculpt the tarp but leave some holes/tears/burned out parts strategically placed to show certain traits to help identify the concealed primarch, like Kurze's claws or the "chest eye" for Horus. Still hidden from view, but you know who's under there. (Assuming you will use these as terrain in a 40k game, the wear and tear on the tarps could just be some rogue shot hitting the statues)
These prints are great! The marble technique is masterful. The only off-putting thing is actually the corkboard basing material, which looks great on most models but wouldn't be used in a marble sculpture. I know it's weird, but those details on real-life marble statues are usually rounded off and smooth. This looks like an awesome project, though.
Really enjoyed this video with Murray, would love to see a completed hall over time! ❤ When he mentioned marble and tarps/shrouds, it made me think of scultptors crafting fabric on top of a figure like clothing or veils, that show off the figure's detail underneath. Not sure how that would work with these - perhaps a Blender scuplt of your own?
Yes yes. A big old cathedral with hard lighting coming through stained glass on one side and all of the statues lining it please. Or you know if that’s asking too much don’t worry about it follow what makes you happy😁
If you want to create the statues covered in cloths, try using real cloth and textile hardener (or soaked in pva glue) instead of greenstuff or miliput.
Very cool! I think the marble veins are a bit too large for the scale so they dont come off believable to me, but they definitely read as marble and hey thats good enough for the table
Just watching out for your health brother, please wear gloves when handling uncured resin . Even if it's been washed you can still develop contact dermatitis with accumulated exposure.
For the draped traitor primarchs, one thing that you could do that should work, grab baby wipes, open them up and let them dry out, then soak them in thinned glue and drape over them before painting
If you don't want to use actual fabric for shrouds how about PVA-soaked tissues or kitchen paper? Then you can mold it into the shapes and with the folds and creases you want.
Yes, this looks like a good series to continue. There probably isn't a canon one, but how hard would it be to invent a chaos hall of heroes showing the fallen Primarchs? That has the option of a before and after for the ones that changed as well. And I think Games Workshop need to look at where technology is going and switch their service model. Not to fully 3D printed, but... Print to order (including options on scales) would be a good solution to supply/ demand problems where they don't want to support model lines because so few people buy them. Also a useful solution to the issue of "I want 60% of that box set, 50% of that one, two of that one, and two of those guys, without having to work out what to do with the parts I'm not using."
I will die on that hill but I think GW should just let us buy the modells as STL files even if they would charge the same price as they charge for the plastic modells
The quality is excellent. There are a few spots that the macro lens shows in ultra close up that could have used some cleanup, but the premium nature of this printer really shows through. For 90% of the painters out there, this machine is capable of producing models better then their painting. Being new technology, the price is a bit steep. I expect to see other printers adopt a similar feature in 6 months or so.
I think the two missing primarchs are deliberate mysteries that are meant to be a nod to the Roman lost legions, but it’s fun to speculate. The Emperor covering the statues of his traitor sons shows that he still hopes to redeem them, otherwise he’d raze their statues (suggesting that the missing primarch are a big source of shame). As far as forgeworld 3D printing, it’s all about scalability. Casting resin is quicker and cheaper than 3D printing and cleaning up the minis for every production run. The resin they cast in is also a lot more durable than most 3D printer resins. As for these prints, they look great! The new module really does seem to improve results.
It would be more work, but if you decide to do the full hall, why not print all of the primarchs and then make actual shrouds to drape over the traitors? That would give you the ability to use the space for great crusade stuff, alternate timeline shenanigans, or just to use them elsewhere
I've seen a theory that one of the missing Primarchs was Sigmar from the fantasy setting. as for the shrouds, why not use paper soaked in white glue mixed with water? There's a number of videos on making tarps and canopies using the technique.
I really love that you showed the results BEFORE trying to sell us the gear. More sponsorships should be structured like this.
It's for the best really. This printer is hard to sell anyway to a non professional crowd like the Tabletop Time audience. Given its price and its proprietary resin cartridges, it's good chinese copy of the FormLabs 3, down to the material consumable locking. Thanks but no thanks.
"We all have a Primarch leading each of our chapters/legions"
Blood Angels: 😢
At least you have the Sanguinor, poor Iron hands have jack shit.
SlipK just reading your comment I could hear all the Iron Warriors crying out in anger.....
Salamanders: VULKAN LIVES!
We're still waiting for Corvus Corax to return from the Warp. 🐦⬛
Iron Hands, White Scars, Imperial Fists, Night Lords, Raven Guard:
I smell a potential new series... let's watch and learn people ^^
That marble effect is awesome!
You need to do every Primarch now, please

These are beautiful, would love to see a full hall! Maybe with some brief lore of each primarch too…?
I really love this simple marbling effect! I would love a video down the line of a more complicated marbling effect. Stone statues is such a deep area of painting minis.

I'm loving the more frequent videos to put on in the background while gaming or painting. Remember we love you guys having fun!
I enjoyed this one, would like to see a series guys, please make it happen.
To make a statue shrouded in cloth you could just use a rough figure shape, and then cover it in thin cloth/paper towel soaked in glue.
Please make the pratorean of Terra next! Would love to see a 40K esque Rogal Dorn
Personally would love to see a complete series of these. That new printer tech is rather crazy.
Entire Hall video series would be amazing!

I would really like to see the full hall done. Not just the statues, but an actual hall diorama where all the states can reside.
I adore the primarchs, so I would absolutely love to see a series of you covering all of them!
Please make this a full series!!
That printer did a really good job. Love the marble effect. And at least one shrouded in cloth would be interesting to see.

Love to see all the primarchs! And the empty space for the lost 2 primarchs!!!
Definitely do the whole thing!
I would love to see all the Primarchs in this style!
The models are really cool and I love how you made them into statues. I’m not convinced by the marble effect, although I don’t know how I would have done it either. Can’t wait to see the next ones !
I would recommend a paper mache, done with a napkin. It gives the "fabric" a more organic look and is pretty easy.
would love to see a full hall build. I would love to see this as a terrain set for Legions Imperialis with all 20 plinths and the 18 primarchs!
New Series with all the Primarchs.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Green Stuff ore Maybe some Nice Clouthing for the Traitors would fit very nicely
Would definitely love to see all the primarchs
Yes please do the full hall as a battle big map
diorama of all the primarchs (possibly a space bears primarch) could be a cool display piece
Easy way to do tarps is with paper towels. cover them in PVA glue and form them to the model.
I think it would be cool if you slowly added a statue each time a new Primarch comes out, until eventually they are all there
I would absolutely love to see the whole hall of heroes! And maybe, a battle report can be made there ;)
I love dioramas and the hall of heroes sounds absolutely sick.
Those are stunning please make all the primarks 👍👍
Very cool! I think the marble veins are a bit too large for the scale so they dont come off believable to me, but they definitely read as marble and hey thats good enough for the table
The Lion is beautiful!!! You did him justice!!
have the two missing statues in another, hidden room, carted away in shame, sort of like an easter egg.
id say build all the primarchs with either a removable tarp, or torn up/ torn down. you can Switch the hall between pre and post heresy that way
Would love to see more of this 👍🏻
Yep, we want to see the entire hall done
Hi, I'm leting you know, I want this to turn into a full thing :)
I’m all in on the entire hall idea.
I'd love to see some more primarchs be featured. Especially those of a... less loyal variety.
I would love to get my hands on them to models and paint them up
Would love to see the full line up
paper mache, use (plain) kitchen towel, wet it and drape it over the model, when its dry remove from model and glaze with PVA for rigidity
You can dampen the towel (I'd suggest a dried flushable wipe, they are thinner) with the PVA. The result is generally quite nice.
dryer sheets (disposable lint thingys) would work well also.
They look like they could come alive and combat some random adventures in DnD
I love all TableTopTime videos!
You should make the hole hall that would be so cool
Just watching out for your health brother, please wear gloves when handling uncured resin . Even if it's been washed you can still develop contact dermatitis with accumulated exposure.
For the draped traitor primarchs, one thing that you could do that should work, grab baby wipes, open them up and let them dry out, then soak them in thinned glue and drape over them before painting
If you don't want to use actual fabric for shrouds how about PVA-soaked tissues or kitchen paper? Then you can mold it into the shapes and with the folds and creases you want.
This makes me want to do a Alpharius and Omegon statue diorama
Could you do a piece of burlap/gossamer that you dip in glue like you're doing paper mache? That might work for the shrouded primarchs.
Yes, this looks like a good series to continue.
There probably isn't a canon one, but how hard would it be to invent a chaos hall of heroes showing the fallen Primarchs? That has the option of a before and after for the ones that changed as well.

Could be interesting to try and make an army of Marble Marines. 🤔😄

Really want to see the whole diarama of the hall
I will never ever use any name for the 13th primarch other than Rubber Ghillie-suit from this day forth. Absolutely howling 🤣
You cant just ask and then leave it. Of course we wanna see a full hall of heroes
Please make the whole hall of heroes
I just 3d printed the lion a few days before i saw this
May I ask where you got the model from?
where can i find the model?
@@galaxeln cults 3d has great 40k stuff. Each up lion el johnson or leman russ and theres one poster who does the detailed stuff (this stuff)
@@Metalshots_Miniatures i didn't want to type it up again so see my reply to the other guy
Pink marble 🙏. Amazing 😊
This was really cool. You could do a guided black marble for the traitor Primarchs
I, for one, would definitely like to see the entire Hall of Heroes.
I think the two missing primarchs are deliberate mysteries that are meant to be a nod to the Roman lost legions, but it’s fun to speculate. You should make all of the Primarchs as well as the Hall of Heroes.
Damn - great models and a great concept!
I was entertained thank you lol.
What were the print times for these models?
Where did you get the stls? Please do the full hall.
I am all for the whole hall of heroes as a battle board
It would be more work, but if you decide to do the full hall, why not print all of the primarchs and then make actual shrouds to drape over the traitors? That would give you the ability to use the space for great crusade stuff, alternate timeline shenanigans, or just to use them elsewhere
Those sculpts are gorgeous. Who made them?
Please do a hall of heroes terrain piece
You're talking about how to use milliput, green stuff, etc. for the tarps, and I'm just thinking "why not just use actual fabric?"
THIS IS AMAZING!
I do love what heygears did there, but I have to wait until it becomes a standard in cheaper printers :D
I'd love to see the full hall of heroes
I've seen a theory that one of the missing Primarchs was Sigmar from the fantasy setting.
as for the shrouds, why not use paper soaked in white glue mixed with water? There's a number of videos on making tarps and canopies using the technique.
There is a higher chance sly marbo is a missing primarch then sigmar lol
