My dad showed me that first one about taking nails out, very handy! Liking those ones about making guides aswell, I've got a green woodworking book where he talks about them as 'patterns' and used the idea to make a couple of spacers to get the uprights on a gate nailed up with an even spacing and all parallel without having to fiddle about with a square and tape measure over and over
