I absolutely love my Fostex TH900 headphones for their phenomenal bass-it’s deep, rich, and incredibly satisfying. I own the MK1 version, which I was lucky enough to snag at a great price. They’ve completely transformed the way I experience music.
I run my TH900mk2 via the ADI-2 and EQ the mids up a touch and treble down. Adds width and brings the vocals forward. I love them. These are the best cans to rock out, no questions. V tuning is a dirty word to most reviewers whose slavish devotion to neutral tuning I find tedious. Also if you older, you don't hear the high treble anyway so no big deal for me. I love em.
Lately they caught my attention as most elegant bass heavy cans. Problem is that cable since my amp got only balanced outs and not many aftermarket brands make it. Had the same problem with my ADX5000, japans dont make it easy I guess
Listened to the review with my TH900 on and you're pretty much spot on with my own impressions. Even despite having all my Stax I still use the TH900 A LOT since they're just really good for everything, even gaming! But yeah, I never actually considered the studio-ness of them. Actually kinda makes sense now given how heavily Fostex is involved in the pro-audio world
I would have used them more if they didn't give me that hot-spot on the top of my head. Comfort is such a huge factor for me, equally as important as the sound quality.
