The Ayah states that "The Hour" is near, which is interpreted to mean the end of the world. More than 500,000 days (fourteen hundred years) have passed since then. No man lives that long. Does it make any sense to tell a Hindu or a Christian that the end of world is coming after one thousand years, therefore, you should believe in Islam today?
The miracle of moon splitting occurred and not a single infidel accepted Islam. While later, millions of people accepted Islam without any miracle. So, why a miracle was needed for a handful of hardened infidels? If it was not a miracle but a natural event, then continue reading on...
At a big scale in nature, things usually explode into pieces, either due to immense inner energy buildup such as in a supernova, or due to collision with other objects such as another planet or proto planet. Splitting of the moon by volcanic eruptions into exactly two intact hemispheres, which flew tens of thousands of miles apart before coalescing into a seamless sphere again, is beyond any reasonable explanation at this stage of scientific understanding.
The Quranic text represents one of the best examples of literature (in a hybrid format of prose and poetry). Respected Ghamidi sahib himself has admitted to this fact at multiple occasions. Then why insist on the literal translation that does not make sense? Would it not be an injustice (or absurdity at times) to literally interpret Ghalib and Iqbal?

Although I find Ghamidi sahib's Urdu very difficult to understand, he seems to be a scholar par excellence. I have started reading his Meezan in Hindi (translated by Roopwati Sharma). I think if he could simplify his Urdu or use some simple English words to explain concepts he will reach a wider audience.

About Professor Javed Ahmed Ghamidi, I not only believe that there is no scholar of his stature profundity of religious thought and precision of its understanding and lucidity of his articulation in the Muslim word, but I also believe that I have yet to see anybody more profound just and humane than Professor Javed Ahmed Ghamidi sahib, when it comes to commentary on social issues including human rights.

,,,kesi ulema ne kaha k agar,,(1)/shaq e qamar agr ik waqia nahi or sirf roya(khuwab) hai,, toh allah ne es khuwab ki tabeer q nahi ki..jis tarah baki khuwabo ki allah ne tabeer kari ya baki nabiyo k khuwabo ki tabeer kari,,esy tara es khuwab ki bhi tabeer krte?(2)/or, yeh jo khuwab tha to yeh ye khuwab sach sabit q nahi hua ..jese baki nabiyo k khuwab baad me chal kar sach sabit hue? (3)/kya yeh jutha khuwab tha jo sach sabit nahi hua?
I just disagree about one thing the scientific evidence that moon can be split into two and rejoin what Mulana Madudi is talking about in that regard doesn't seem accurate because he is talking about at the end of his life a star is exploded in a supernova and it's whole mass is concentrated at one point after that it is called the balck hole that doesn't fit description of Splitting of the moon
Otherwise these series are really helping me understand religion in a better way.

The explanation of Islahi is better, that was presented after. But essentially both are saying there is a possibility that we may find some evidence owing to the scientific advances or may be not due to lapse of extended time & events happened on the Moon that might have erased it.

43:00 Seconds...to say that current scientific knowledge about planets and their structure makes it possible to split the moon into two halves and its reunion because of gravity, is totally preposterous. No natural activity in the core of moon can split it into two clean halves (as mentioned by Ghamdi/Modoodi sahib) and their is no possible way that a sphere split into two overcoming the gravity of its own mass, could come back due to the gravity (which failed earlier to keep them together) and join together leaving no trace. This only shows the lack of scientific understanding of physical laws of Modoodi and anyone who considers that Modoodi is correct.
It was an "unnatural" phenomenon so it's not right to test this on scientific/natural laws or reasoning.
Secondly, how much of the nature has been discovered it terms of laws(Only scarce) As science progresses more laws will unfold and better understanding might develop.
Nobody denies that it was all done by Allah عز و جل by the medium of through prophet Mohammed ﷺ pointing his finger.

Ghamdi Sahib according to moulana Ghulam Ahmed Perez Actually the moon was not broken but the name of flag of Quresh e Macca was Moon and at the time of Ghazwa e Badar that moon was downed and divided in pieces through Hazrat Muhammad (pbpm) and his companions.pl guide.

We agree with Javed Ghamdi that this incident occurred at Mina where holy prophet was present as Ayat Elahia by Allah and not as Mujeza of Holy Prophet SaW Pbuh during before 5 year earlier than Migration to Madina which was witnessed by Haz Ali Haz abdullah bin Masood and Haz Huzaifa and others alongwith some Kuffar including Abu Jahal Waleed bin Mugheera etc۔
KUFFAR never asked Holy Prophet saw Pbuh to show some Mujeza by breaking 14th day full Moon into two parts.
It was a Nishani or Ayat of Allah occured during v petiod of Risalat and Holy prophet asked kuffar to become witness and told that its an Ayat which will occur close to Qiama .
Riwayaat with Haz Anas bin Malik and Haz Abdullsh bin Abbass as Zaeef as per research made by Modoodi and Imin Islahi Baiqahi and others scholars۔

MOON SPLIT: I know most ulema believe that the Prophet (sws) performed the moon-splitting miracle and the tafseers abound in this regard. However, some notable ulema (including Maulana Maududi) do not believe that it was a miracle shown to the disbelievers by the Prophet (sws). They believe that it was some kind of heavenly happening that may have scientific justification. But, we see from the Qur'an (54:1-2) that there was no demand for this 'miravle' from anyone.
This ayat has been the subject of my own personal research for a long time, mainly because there is absolutely no recorded astronomical evidence that the moon ever split. So, how do we understand the "shaqq-al-qamar" ayat then? That was the question for me because the Qur'an cannot support any form of untruth. Only a few months ago, I looked up the word "shaqqa" in the Lane's Lexicon. There, I found that there was a proverb of shaqq-al-qamar in the classical Arabic which means that whenever the Arabs witnessed anything drastically new and revolutionary, they would say "The moon has split". Thus the new revolutionary message it might have referred to is the Qur'an and its everlasting message which was absolutely mind boggling for the Quresh. Thus, the proverbial "Splitting of the moon" (the Qur'an) is the finsl warning for the ""nearness of the Hour"! This explanation appeals to my curiosities, but I do not neglect to say Wallahu a'lam.

Criticisim of critics that how is it possible that a huge celestial moon can be splitted into two parts and then again joined together has no rationality. It is a useless argument since, the entity who has created these bodies can do anything with it. God is an entity who can do anything in this universe. There is nothing impossible for him. Further, humans are not in a position that they know all rules, laws, concept of this universe. I do not think that Maulana Maudoodi should try to prove the possibility of this event through the scientific knowledge he has so far. It is totally useless debate.
The most important point here is that to prove anything in relation to Muhammad SAW (his risaalat) due to splitting of the moon, this event must have been occured through Muhammad SAW.

Sir Hadith No. 3 OF Bukhari Sharif V1 states a Hadith that clearly demolishes your point of view about Hirah and Nazool e Wahi i.e the first Ayaat of Surah Aalaq. It clearly states that Prophet SAW was taken to Warqa bin Nofil Amma Khdija RA which also demolishes your stance.
Quran has supreme authority over everything.. n Quran doesnt accept it.

We have to see Hadees, people sayings, in the light of Quran, and not Quran in the light of Hadees. Very tbing has to be judged based on Quranic Ayat. When Quran clearly says how the first revelation was made then we should not interpret Quran based on people saying, or Books which were written centuries later. Quran is mezaan amd base for deen.
