Thanks for making this video. I had the exact same issue. My only addition was I used two slim pieces of wood attached to the two hex keys. I used two small c-clamps to hold the wood in place. This gave me more leverage and I was able to twist it evenly.
You video explained what I needed to do. Thanks for taking the time to video and upload.

@@chicoinchico I get it. I was pretty sure mine was seized up and ruined. The single allen / hex key was bending to the point it almost broke. I hunted around on TH-cam and found mostly unboxing and long winded do nothing videos. You had the fix. Equal torque from both points. Kinda like a pin wrench. Not sure why Dewalt went with an awkward design. We certainly aren't the only two with this issue.
Anyway, thanks for putting the video together.

@@chuckwilkins3581 it's my pleasure. If you run in to tool repair issues, don't hesitate to ask. I've spent more time fixing and making my own tools than I have building furniture or doing automotive work in the last few years. I'm going to try to make more videos in the near future.

Stuck wheels suck! Yep, seems we're on our own to figure a way to free em. Lonely dilemma for sure. Thanks for your tip.

I was... That shop went down the drain too. Now I'm stuck on the street in California again, playing music and selling my handmade guitar picks to feed my dogs and myself. I miss my saw dust...

Is this stuck wheel thing common...???

Well in my case, I had put the collet nut on wrong so when I started it, it used all that force to wrench that wheel on there. It would've been easy to fix had I had a buddy, but with just my 2 hands I had to figure something else out.

Mate you can put a big screwdriver between the Allen keys the extra leverage will make it easy.......the other way is to put the wheel in the vice vertically then push the lock button and pull the body of the grinder and it will come straight off.

I tried that. the grinding wheel had been put on by an inexperienced friend of mine who had installed it in such a way that the instant I turned it on the wheel jammed and tightened the nut down on itself with the full strength of the motor. it honestly took about 200 lbs of pressure to break it loose, which was nearly impossible to achieve with one hand being devoted to holding the lock button. I like your idea on holding the Allen keys with the vice, though. that would allow the use of both hands.

Damnit. I just looked back on this. I've been across the country and back 5 times since my last reply, and yet here I sit, homeless in Oregon AGAIN! This time I have a truck and half of a shops worth of tools, omw to pick up a school bus I just bought to convert into a mobile shop in southern California. Life is good, but Oregon is not.
