    I absolutely love this tutorial I'm new to kumihimo I have done a couple of things I was given a bunch of for a bunch of 6 mm and wanted to know if 6 millimeters I would use size 8 sore size 6 is with it and do the same type of thing I know that the bracelet will be quite a bit chunkier but do I follow the same pattern of one big beads to small beads or three small beads and how can I determine how many beads I need to put on working on breast cancer stuff

    Your videos are always wonderful to view, love the way you teach! I keep seeing such pretty Matubo 3 cut beads and wonder if they can be used on a Kumihimo braid. ( I haven't bought any because I mostly make Kumihimio ropes and don't want to buy them if I can't use them). I've tried Hex beads but, for some reason, I don't like the finished product. Have you used Hex beads? I would love to see them, if you have made them with these two types of beads. Thanks much.

    I am having a bit of trouble getting the seed beads onto the cord. Any suggestions? They are Czech 10/0.
    Could that be the problem ? Slightly different size? I am just learning basic kumihimo having done three, 8-cord braids using 1mm satin rat tail cord.This looks like it is not too far beyond what I have been doing. I have watched a few of your other videos and many (so far) seem a bit too complicated for me yet. Thank you for such detailed directions and easily seen examples. Well done!

  • @valturner7220
    @valturner7220 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love this pattern but I have a problem. Although I thought I was using the same size/type beads as shown I am finding that some of my size 11 beads slip through the centre of my 4mm which makes stringing them almost impossible. I suppose this means that I need to have 4mm beads with a smaller centre hole or a bigger 'size 11'. Have you had this problem too?

    Great tutorial! Beautiful design. How do you determine how many beads to use for longer or shorter length of bracelet? What length was this one? Thank you!!

    • @CSLdesigns
      @CSLdesigns  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. I would just measure it as I go (as the braid is coming out of the disk), and also taking into account the clasp that you want to use, as different clasps might add different lengths. And then you can always either add more beads if you need it to be longer or not use all the beads if it's long enough. This one ended up being 7 inches :-)

    can you tell me how you are able to make such a fine cord NOT slide out of your Kumihimo disc while weaving?

    • @zacdavid184
      @zacdavid184 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      These discs are not great for this size thread IMO. You have a couple of options. First and foremost, you really want a dedicated disc for very thin threads and then make sure you don't use anything thicker in that particular disc, which will wear out the slots. If that is still too loose, holding the braid beneath the disc while you work can help.
      Using c-lon/s-lon bead cord #18 (.5mm/Tex 210) may be slightly better, but not much.
      My suggestion is to just get a disc that is designed to take such thin cords. You can find *double density* kumihimo discs easily online. These are meant for very thin cord and thread and IMO they do indeed make a giant difference.

  • @zacdavid184
    @zacdavid184 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hmmm... wondering if you or someone could help me. I'm fairly experienced with Kumihimo but having trouble with this one for some reason. I do braid in the "opposite way," right top down and left bottom up, so I changed the thread positions accordingly. I thought I wanted a 4mm start in slots 1, 9, 16, and 24. Was this wrong? In the video, your 'first move' of each pair is always with a 4mm and the second move is always with the 3 11/0s, which is what I'm getting, but I'm not getting that triangular shape. It's forming more as a spiral. I understand the structure of the 8-strand braid and that they will always "spiral," I guess what I'm saying is that my 4mm aren't lining up correctly. I'm not sure what's going wrong, but it has happened multiple attempts now. Maybe I'm not getting the beads to slot in the right place? But they are definitely falling on the outside... maybe tightness? I'm really at a loss! I am considering just trying to braid the opposite way for this one pattern (top left down bottom right up) but that's definitely not my usual natural movement, so I'd rather not if I can help it and not even positive that would solve my issue. SOS, anyone!

    • @debbielowrance8579
      @debbielowrance8579 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am having the exact same issue. Did you ever figure out a solution to the spiral vs. triangle shape? I don't really want to reverse my normal pattern of rotation either as I'm afraid it will be impossible for me to keep the correct order that way.

    • @tornade4aquilabobber278
      @tornade4aquilabobber278 3 ปีที่แล้ว
