The brutal murders of Mary Ann or Polly Nichols and Annie Chapman took place just eight days apart, on 31st August and 8th September 1888.
In this episode of the House of Lechmere Edward Stow takes prolific author and TH-camr Jamie Boyle on a tour to mark these sad anniversaries. The tour actually took place on 31st August 2024 and started at Doveton Street, where the lead suspect in the case, Charles Lechmere - otherwise known as Charles Cross - lived.
From Doveton Street we proceeded to Buck's Row (now Durward Street), on past Vallance Road, where the Kray twins infamously lived and down Hanbury Street.
From there we finished off by checking the location of Miller's Court on what was Dorset Street, where Mary Jane Kelly was murdered on 9th November 1888.
