Russians React the song is about Rosa Luxemburg and the revolt of the spartakists in 1919, according to the composer, Thanos Mikroutsikos. The lyricist, Alkis Alkaios, has also died. The musical instrument is the bouzouki.

Russians React the lyrics in english:
      "Your lips dry and thirsty
searching for water on the asphalt
the wheeled machines are running past me
and you are telling me that the cloudburst awaits us
and drawing me into a damp cabaret
We are walking down the same street together
      but our dungeons are separate
      we circle a magic city
I no longer want to learn what it is we look for
it's enough if you give me just two kisses
you play me at roulette and lose me
      in a nightmare fairy tale
now my voice is the voice of an insect
      my life an uprooted plant
you cut me off and toss me into the void
      How need turns into history
      how history turns into silence
what are you looking at me for, Rosa, all numb
forgive me for not understanding you
what is the computers say, and the numbers?
My beloved, made of coal and sulphur,
how can time have altered you so?
the wheeled machines are running over us
and I in the fog and in the rain
am sleeping by your side, fasting
      How need turns into history
      how history turns into silence
what are you looking at me for, Rosa, all numb
forgive me for not understanding you
what is the computers say, and the numbers?"

What is the meaning of this song?

    • @melmar999
      @melmar999 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@billba It has political meaning. How ppl are sacrificed for justice & rights and then they're forgotten...:
"PART OF LYRICS ...How the Need becomes History, how the History becomes Silence..."
We all see & experience the injustice but we're unable to change it, like pawns of the powerful (systems, countries, benefits)...:
"... You play me in the roulette and you loose me, in a nightmare fairy tale,
voice of insect is now my voice, creeping plant is my life,
you cut me & you throw me in the vacuous..."
The speaking person pleeds unable to adjust in the fact that this injustice is mainly generated by financial grounds:
"... Forgive me that I don't understand what the computers and the numbers are saying... "
Actually, the song refers to how a thinking human being regards the manipulated reality he lives in.
He implies that he prefers consciously to remain a thinking human being and preserve his logic and clarity rather than to accept the injust, inhuman situation and pretend that he doesn't understand.
Dynamic music, climactic melody & strong lyrics exhale feelings of sadness, unger & big proudness.

This specific concert, one of the greatest of Mitropanos' life, was held on the Odeon of Herodus Atticus, undernith the Acropolis of Athens, one of the most historical places on Greece. Mitropanos was one of the most beloved singers in Greece and still lives in the hearts of greek people. A simple person with a simple but thrilling voice. A human who sings from his heart to our hearts for love, for his motherland, for his class. Dimitris Mitropanos died the 17th of April 2012, but is still here!

The name of the song is as you understood "Rosa" and it was sung by the very popular Greek singer Demitris Mitropanos, a beloved singer who died at around 3 years ago. It's a bit difficult to say about the words - it is not a sequence story or a clearly love song. I think that us Greek people we love the music and the fantastic rythm

dimitris mitropanos was the las Rebetis, rebetis is an artist that created songs with meaning talking about old and usually incomplete love, he was one of the biggest if not the biggest, after his death no one was able to fill his shoes and so rebetika songs slowly faded away

Dimitri Mitropanos was the best authentic greek singer all Greeks missing him including my self very much. All his songs had meaning of love and real people's feelings. His voice is the only one of a kind which well suited to his song's. Fair well my friend may Jesus keep you well near him.

Hi mate. This song is actually a poem written by Alkis Alkaios. Roza refers to Rosa Luxemburg. The poem (written at the beggining of the 90s) describes a disappointed communist that doesn't know how to handle the upcoming situation but stays with his ideas. The lyrics are very lyrical and not even 5% of the Greek truly understand their meaning, although they dance it as it is the most famous zeimbekiko song in Greece. The main refrain of the song is the following:
This is how the need becomes history
This is how the history becomes silence
Why are you looking at my thirsty face Rosa,
Please forgive me, I don't understand what computers and numbers say
    I hope I helped.

ment and the moment you say that he is living the moment is the moment that he is dancing zeibekiko a heavy dance that has no particular steps but everyone can dance it from his hurt whith his own uniq steps followed by the rhythm of the music it can be danced only by one person at the time and everyone else supports the dancer by standing or sitting on their knees and clapping their hands to the rhythm of the music and the lyrics of most of zeibekiko songs are whith deep meaning for life or love

The genre of the song is called zebekiko and it's considered to be a very emotional "heavy" music genre. Traditionally only men dance to zebekiko or women who are in pain ( widows etc) but any one can dance to this. Someone who knows how to dance zebekiko is considered like "tough". Hope this will help you :)

Every time this song brings a tear to my eyes. The lyrics are all allegorical, "you gamble me and loose me" "I dont understand what the numbers say" "the need becomes history and the history becomes silence" it is untranslatable but when you hear it in greek it makes sense deep inside. Like it sings what you have inside that's unsingable...
