    Nice video! I only wish you had made a link to the flexible conduit you showed.

      Thank you! If you have any other information you think would be useful just let me know and I could possibly make a video of it. Currently working on an “installing a security camera” video

    Can't access any of your links. Cloudflare 525 Error. Maybe something to do with my unshorten.link Chrome security add-in...??

    • @IphoneMod

      Perhaps that is this issue, I am having no problem accessing the link.

    Some setting are different on my iPhone than on my monitor for example I don’t see the term threshold instead I see delay on my app, so would that be it? Man I’m confused 😐

    Does the fan to your power supply stay powered on when you shutdown your NVR via the drop down menu option or when using the button on front of the device?

    I just purchased the n4k3-168wb-1 16ch 8 camera set. I also have a rack in the house and prewired cat cables all over the property going to the rack. I'm looking forward to the install and use of this cool system..

    Awesome video, which has already shown your strong tech control savvy/flavor from the very beginning ;). Your Lorex selections are more commercial level for residential applications.

    • @IphoneMod
      @IphoneMod  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Yes I did go with more commercial products mostly because I am hoping they last longer.. well longer than my old system which was horrible.

    Your review is the first I’ve seen on TH-cam to feature either the Lorex 4K camera with the motorized varifocal zoom lens, or real-time 30FPS recording, so I greatly appreciate that. I can finally see the video quality. It would be awesome if you could actually review/show the camera with the real-time 30FPS footage. Keep up the good work!

    Is their fusion the smart person vehicle detection?
    If yes do you get false notification?
    Do you get picture thumbnail on the phone?
    Are the notifications fast?
    Thanks.

    • @IphoneMod
      @IphoneMod  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This NVR does have the smart detection but I do not currently use it so I cannot say how well it works.

      Also, I purchased the upgraded 30 fps camera and it eliminated the ghosting that was talked about, in the video I shared.

    Hi considering buying such an nvr as yours. can see you use lorex cloud I am not right that you can use the lorex home app and there with use it together with Google Assistant and Alexa

    • @IphoneMod
      @IphoneMod  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I currently use both Lorex cloud app and the Lorex home app which as listed does allow for google assistant and Alexa. I have not used either so I can’t really say how they work. The only reason I use Lorex cloud is because it has slightly better capability for ptz function.

    How did you mount your monitor and keyboard underneath your rack?

    • @IphoneMod
      @IphoneMod  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A keyboard mount purchased on amazon. It integrates within the VESA Mount attachment points and also allows for the use of a wall mount which I have in this setup.

  • @steinachu1
    @steinachu1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a way to mount the monitor horizontally and rotate it to match in the settings?

    What conduit did you use?

    • @IphoneMod
      @IphoneMod  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just regular pvc electrical conduit. In terms of sizing , 1/2 inch is more than enough or depending on how many wires you are running you can up it to 3/4 , but it’s all really dependent on your situation.

    If you go into settings on your NVR, you can adjust the time requirements for log in. I know it was a major PITA for me too, at the default time setting.

    Thanks for the review, I like what you did with the "custom" junction boxes- I will probably do that on my install on with those cameras on exposed areas

  • @ufchistorian13
    @ufchistorian13 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Okay this is very helpful thank you. It seems like you bought the NVR and cameras separately. I'd like to as well, but the kits they sell are just way more affordable (I'm looking at the 8 channel), and if anything I can set the 4K camera to record in 5MP in smaller areas, so it'll eat less at my storage. The NVRs are expandable up to 6/8 TB, but I think you have to replace your existing HDD and end up spending a couple hundred for that. My 1st question is, how long does your current NVR (I assume 4TB?) save your footage before overwriting? And is there a way to set the cameras to record at a lower resolution 24/7, but in 4K when it detects motion? (EDIT: NO) Their boring alphanumeric camera names are not helpful at all, and on their website I can't even find the fps of their cameras. It's very difficult to compare their current lineup of cameras.

    That 3TB probably hold up to 7 days of recording with all the 4K recording load

    • @IphoneMod
      @IphoneMod  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am currently running 4x 4K cameras and 3x 2k cameras. Yes I get approximately 7 days, although recording management like motion only recording can greatly increase the time.

    Good video but consider some caveats to look for in a Lorex system that nobody talks about. I bought a similar 4k system POE with 4 cams for a little more than you paid., but the cameras are useless in the dark. They say 130 ft. or more but that is only with bright streetlights or other ambient lighting like a neighbors. I live in a rural setting and at night the video is black. I had to buy solar spotlights. These cameras are great though, for people who experience a lot of daytime intrusions.
    Now if you upgrade to different Lorex cameras that Lorex claims are compatible with your system watch out. I had 4 spare channels on my NVR so I bought different camera models that were advertised as compitable. After setup I was unable to use the "smart search" feature on the added cameras; only those that were supplied with the original system. Lorex does not advise you that certain features will not work and in talking to customer support they are evasive and will not openly admit to this problem. These are limitations that should be mentioned in any camera review videos.

    • @IphoneMod
      @IphoneMod  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      People do have different experiences, but mine are mostly positive . I have no issues with night visibility, they are actually pretty good in my opinion. Also I do pretty extensive research when purchasing new cameras to make sure they are fully compatible with my system . I do suppose I can keep that in mind when making future videos to inform more about those issues .

      If you check out the 30 fps 4k nocturnal cameras that Lorex recently released, they're absolutely amazing at night, also none of the ghosting issues other cameras had.

    The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced.
    Don't walk away from Lorex RUN! I had a 6 month old 4K camera go bad and after 4 days of answering
    questions and jumping through the same hoops over and over the issue is still not resolved.
    They are bad beyond belief.

      @@IphoneMod Did you deal with their customer support before Lorex was sold to surveillance giant Dahua. I have never given a company bad ratings for customer service before but this was so bad I felt I had to say something. I would give the competition a try before I would buy another Lorex system.
