The problem with the Chinatown LED number plate bulbs is they’re so bright they light up the bumper and the ground behind the car. It looks aftermarket and cheap. Plus as you found they’re usually made poorly and tend to start flashing or blow quite quickly.

Keith DArcy I noticed on some they’re too bright that you can’t really make out the reg when driving at night

My friend helped me install with using some clear rtv and i think some jbweld. They've been installed for 4 years and have worked consistently. Occasional bulb out when starting but rather rare. Totally worth the price imo and they're great for tailgate parties lol

You are right, however. Even if you buy proper quality they are really bight due to the fact that with the same amount of energy they shine a lot brighter. Or does someone know a brand which has better quality lights? I was thinking of buying black wrapping foil to let less light come trough.

      That's a not true...
      Super bright doesn't mean cheap...
So many luxury car have aftermarket LED light housings

@@K_N_44 Luxury cars never have super bright number plate light. It does look stupid if it's too bright.

Looks smart Luke. I fitted a similar set to my 2012 Seat Leon - they were a great fit and no error messages!

Well, that looks a lot better now from before and after the difference is awesome, looks original to the cars which are the road today.

Looking very legit Luke! I love the A4 :) That white Torque license plate would be the icing on the cake, unfortunately not allowed. I forgot how good the tinted taillights looked! Maybe you can grad some 20 inch S-Line wheels on ebay one day, sometimes there are curb rashed ones for reasonable money (you could restore them).

They clip on the right side but not on the left, same thing happened to me. Just used some silicone on mine to seal cos after 6 months they were so full of dust i got less light

I fitted full LED rear lights on my Toyota GT86. They are full light units that are Can bus friendly and look and work well.

Had similar fitment issues on the volvo equivalents. Once they're in however they're great and being a volvo they're on all the time and lasted a couple of years so far!

What I did, I removed the weather strip and added silicone instead.

Luke, your old bulbs are actually tungsten filament incandescent bulbs of the festoon type, not Halogen.

I bought cheap £4.99 eBay led tail lights and they’re brighter than many LED brands. (don’t wanna name out any companies here)

  • @johno4521

Why do they need to be so bright?! I think you risk being stopped or failing an MoT, showing all that white light to the rear.

They looked great once fitted and no need to change bulbs I did similar to my Mini Cooper.

Great video just for the academic side and general presentation...... but at 6:48 - They look absolutely shite imo. I'd stick to the normal ones.

Use super glue to build the clip back up. Sand it to fit perfectly. Visit www.dectane-shop.com for LED rear tail lights with no errors.
