Anders is a charming and skilled gentleman. His enthusiasm for this work is infectious. He works so naturally as he carries on a lively conversation, and sacrifices neither diligence nor eye contact. Impressive! My paternal grandfather, an immigrant from Southern Italy, died shining shoes on the streets of New York shortly before I was born.
Raphael's spoken about his hair before, but interested to hear what you think would be a better haircut for him? www.gentlemansgazette.com/top-hair-loss-treatments-for-men/?
I've been waiting for a quiet moment to watch this video--and it was definitely worth the wait! Anders is so knowledgeable, capable, and enthusiastic! And he discusses his reasoning, as well as lots of make-do options, so that his general principles can be applied without needing a specific product, which I really appreciate. I might not get into shoe shining exactly, but I'll definitely be taking better care of my leather shoes from here on 🙂
When the guy doing the shine looks to be wearing an AP Royal Oak, does it really surprise you? I cannot get a clear shot, but that looks like the watch to me.
Love the video, we have shoe shiners in Grand Central also a place called Leather Spa here in NYC, you wore the wrong shoes for shining! should’ve worn smooth leather and not pebbles or grained lol but still good job and content 👌🏽✨
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Raphael's smooth leather shoes didn't need shining 😉 There's no "wrong" shoes to shine, as people do even shine suede. Anders was happy to shine these shoes, and Raphael was very happy with the results 👌
@@gentlemansgazette What do I wear? Hermes first and foremost- Dior , YSL, Charvet, and there are a lot of new houses in Paris with which I am familiar only by name. But Paris is the capital of fashion, and you spend so much time on GB. I know that you have covered Hernes ties. And I know that the Hermes sandals and belts are kind of a joke.
I realize Anders is a world champion, but what would someone typically charge for a shine like this? Ballpark figures are fine, I don't need exact amounts.
I think the gent needs a water dispenser and some proper products Not one of the best shoeshine videos I’ve seen when compared to the Elegant Oxford, Kirby and the Rake
Jack here - in my experience, a water dispenser isn't necessary at all. I use a shallow dish (or the polish tin lid) with barely any water in it, as I find it much easier to control the amount of water on the end of my finger that way. But, to each their own!
Hello, i didnt know anyone better to ask than you, since it seems you know a lot about this topic, i have an issue authenticating a purple label leather jacket i want to buy, could you offer me some help please. The main giveaway for me is that it says made in china on the tag, but everything else looks solid. I can send you a picture in dm if needed. Cheers!
Based on your other comment, it sounds like you have an issue with the brand. The products you choose to use for a shoe shine is ultimately a subjective topic - if you get a good result with your choice of tools and method, that's great 🙂
The shoes are made from a rich hatch-grain leather which would require multiple layers and therefore hours to fill in the structure to make a flat surface to get to a mirror shine. The finished results are top-notch for Raphael's needs, and what constitutes the perfect shine will usually be subjective for each person 🙂
I have used these products and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I would advise the gazette to promote the best products Shiners I’ve been to have no issues with this leather

Anders is great, we've always been pleased to showcase his enthusiasm on the channel!
As a barber I’ve followed your channel for a long time
But I have to say
Your haircut makes me cry for my industry

Spectacular, can’t wait to watch!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, Theo!
This video really shined!
We see what you did there - and we approve! 👏
SHOE SHINING IN AN EAMES LOUNGE CHAIR? talk about SERIOUS class wow !!!
It's a permanent fixture at Arterton - such a great setup!

If fashion returned back to leather shoes we might even get back bench seat shoe shiners
@@koimananana Highly polished leather shoes are ALWAYS in fashion. 🙂

On my way to pick up my 1920s Spectators from my local cobbler.
Very nice! Care to share more details about your spectators?
maybe this is not the place, but what about French fashion, though some of the French clothes that i own were made in Italy?
An interesting idea! Which artisans or brands do you recommend?

You need to help make cloaks popular and normal again.
That's certainly the hope! 😅
Me: Somehow gets the same shine using a kiwi brush, bath & body works lotion, and some anti-aging skin cream that maintains it
I've been using Saphir products and have gotten WAY better results than I ever did with Kiwi.

i use a cube of ice and it melts quick to room temp
Nice idea 🧊

Did he Hawk Tuah his shoes?
Breath, not spit 😉
No offense but I get way better results with less cinema.🤪🤗
Well, it's not everyday that most people film a shoe shine 😉

Disappointing due to the video being too long and the shiner not being very good.
You are so pompous you sat down and tried to educate that man on how to shine shoes. You are getting worse and worse
No, it was a conversation between enthusiasts 🙂
I don't think he came off as pompous at all. He was asking leading questions so the answer would be of interest to people watching the video.
