Everything about it is perfect. The took pains to capture the characters and personalities from the book, the unexpected clever comments and zingers delivered in Reacher’s classic brevity, even the fight scenes feel more like “we need a fight scene now because this is Reacher and we haven’t done one in about 10 minutes” which is how I imagine Lee Child’s process was as well. They didn’t cherry pick the plot points and dialogue that would have been easy to adapt; they made the series wholesale off the book in as many ways as possible.

With all due respect to Tom Cruise's portrayal, THIS is how I envisioned Jack Reacher from reading the books.

Cruise didn't have the stature but he had the character on lock. Don't know if the new guy will be able to pull it off.
Tom cruise wasn’t a dead ringer for Reacher, but he played the part well. This looks like they want you to laugh at every joke while the actors wink at you to let you know it’s funny. Just let the jokes stand up for themselves. And Reacher is already over the top in the books so maybe dial it down a bit so it doesn’t look corny on tv like the moment the guy walks out of the booth with his shirt off. It might be good but I think it might be ok as a show.
Ronnie Brown my thoughts exactly. Cruise had the swag. This guy has the build but no charisma. I love the books but I don’t know that I will like this series because Jack Reacher is supposed to be very charismatic. Just being big does not a Jack Reacher make. I’ll give it a shot though.
THIS is the REAL JACK REACHER. Great casting, very faithful to the book, just all around good show. Well done. Can't wait for season 2. Thank you for finally giving us real fans a worthy Reacher.

Just finished it. God I wish I could see it again for the first time. As a reader of the books they nailed it. IT WAS EVERYTHING IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN!
This show is so dumb that in the seventh episode the French mother of two kids calls the younger son by the family last name but only this once and while talking to both sons and calling the eldest by his first name.

Kinda eerie how much they actually followed the source material for "The Killing Floor". It's always a good sign when you can point out actual scenes from a book and they look like how you imagined them.

It seems like they found the perfect actor to play the reacher role. The story and acting is very good. Thank God they took the extra time and effort with the fight scenes because everyone is tired of shaky cam. It is refreshing to actually see the fighting in a fight scene.

The acting looks really bad tbh. Tom might be short, but the way he delivers the lines in the first movie and the way it was shot... This ain't even on the same level. They needed someone that could feel more natural in such a role, like Jensen Ackles (not lookwise, acting wise), if he says something badass, it feels badass as if he really means it, not outta place.

He does look like a Jack Reacher! Reacher size and strength is such an important part in the novels, that any portrayal is incomplete without it.
OMG! This is the most perfect adaptation of Reacher I've ever seen. It's so good how they managed to bring everything from the book on screen. Was literally crying watching it, everything was just like I imagined while reading the book. I seriously hope this goes on for 5 seasons minimum.
This is a fantastic portrayal of Jack Reacher, that's stayed closer to the books. Absolutely loved it, massive fan of Lee Child's books. Can't wait for the next season. Plenty of material there to use.
The first Reacher film was solid. It had a dark edge. The protagonist here is big and tall, but it feels like I know exactly who he is.

Nailed it for me, I thought the remaining cast also did a hell of a fine job as well. Each with their own distinct character really brought their A game. Can we have about 5 more seasons please.

Sorry, but this isn't Reacher at all... He's way too muscular (Reacher in the books is big and fit but he doesn't work out, so he isn't completely ripped like this guy). Also, this guy does not look like an ex MP at all. He doesn't carry himself or act like a cop, which is what Reacher was. Lastly, this guy just doesn't look right in the face. Almost too baby faced or something. And too smiley or jolly looking... I don't know.
I'm still gonna give the show a shot and hope that the trailer just showed him off in a bad light, but as someone who has read through the complete book series 4 times now, I'm pretty disappointed. The only thing this guy has is the size, but honestly Tom Cruise had the Reacher personality nailed WAY better than this guy did. Cruise's only problem was the missing 12" of height and 100lb. of body weight, but I can now see why they settled on him because I'd much rather have the right personality than just the right height. I fear they should have kept looking man.

Some of the comments in here make me question if people have read past the 3rd book. Reacher is a funny guy, he cracks a few jokes in every book. Also he definitely is a ladies' man, he's had numerous romantic interests.
This is a trailer to get people who have never heard of Jack Reacher interested in the show. 2 minutes of him being all quiet and moody isn't gonna get audience hype. Calm down. They are doing an extremely good job on The Wheel of Time right now. I think they'll do a good job on Reacher as well

Finished the series in 2 days, they totally respect the idea of the books of who Jack Reacher is, while the movies were entertaining, the series totally knock it out of the park, and Alan Ritchson is as credible as Jack as one would expect, hope it gets picked for future seasons

First of all I almost screamed when I saw the casting choice for Reacher, finally someone who can fit his big shoes.
The trailer is a bit underwhelming and might even go the point of calling it boring but honestly that's fine with me. Reacher novels were never an action packed non stop adrenaline ride, there was a lot of quiet before the actual, short storm. So to me this is a good thing. I want to see Reacher walking around, finding clues, hear his thoughts and slowly get to know him, the cast, the town etc. I don't need fancy fighting or driving, Reacher himself says that's not his thing. So I'm really excited this is more laid back

@@renodgi That's exactly what they're doing. Each season adapts one book. The first season adapts THE KILLING FLOOR and is eight episodes long.
I hope they do all of your favorite things about these books justice and it’s a shinning example of correct adaptation and faithfulness to the source material. I want all of the people commenting on this to get exactly what they hoped for, I’m not a reacher fan (I’m a causal so this is the first I’m really seeing of the character) but I want all of you fans to be serviced correctly. Just binge-watched entire season. OMG. The only time I've ever watched one of my favorite fictional characters brought to life and thought about the actor playing him, "Perfect choice. Just as I imaged him from the books," was Tom Selleck as Jesse Stone. And now there's Alan Ritchson as Reacher. I was giddy throughout the entire season, thinking, "Oh, wow. That's Reacher. He's just as I imagined him." Can't wait for Season 2.

He’s not 6’5” and 250 but it’s gotta be tough finding guys that big who can act. My complaint is with the producers who have him wearing fitted designer looking t-shirts and pants. A huge part of what made Reacher interesting was that he bought his clothes at cheap places like hardware stores or wherever he could find clothes to fit until he threw them out to buy more because he never did the laundry. They’re making him appear in, what looks like, tight fitting designer clothes. He also always wore big, heavy well made oxfords.
If he can't find clothes big enough for him, its sound like you're laying out a Plot reason why his shirts are so tight Lol

Absolutely epic show just finished bing watching. Great cast and this is how I always pictured Reacher in the books.
Outstanding performances from all. This is 6.5 hours of action suspense. Roscoe (Willa Fitzgerald) was a perfect fit to play this part. Her spoken expressions, eye contact. and Southern charm made this movie into a love story within the action hero plot. Takes great scriptwriting and direction to bring out the best in the actors. Kinda reminded me of how Marisa Tomei won the Oscar for her part in the comedy "My Cousin Vinny (1992)." Reacher will go down as the most iconic casting yet.
Just started the season and… Wow it’s amazing. Incredibly accurate to the source material even down to the pacing and the mood (rain, heat). They also did a great job building tension in key moments, like when they arrived at Rosco’s house and see the boot tracks! Instead of dumbed down dialogue they choose to focus on the number of tracks and linger long enough for the audience to grasp the gravity of what might have happened if they were home. This make the scene way more impactful. It is a breath of fresh air in a world of P.C Hollywood content. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I think the lighting and the choice of trailer music's a bit off-putting, which makes the trailer just "fine" and a "generic actioner". But I really do have high hopes for this series as well. Alan Ritchson used to give off Heath Ledger vibes when he was cast as Aquaman in Smallville, but after watching him on Titans, he sure showed a lot of promise as the next Jack Reacher. What I want to know is will every book at least get three episodes?
@@noeltobitdelafuente5743 As a friend pointed out to me, the fact they got the Rolling Stones song in the trailer is an indicator of quality. It means Amazon ponied up a huge amount of money for the rights to use the song, and that the Stones thought enough of the show to okay it. He said they usually don't.

@@hottshott30 It is moving to a spinoff series that follows Bosch as a private eye. It's supposed to be on IMDB TV and they are filming now. Bosch Legacy I think is the title. Titus Welliver is still playing Bosch.

As soon as I heard Alan was cast in this show, I knew Hank wasn't going to make it through Titans Season 3. Good for him for getting a main role like this.
That makes me so sad he is leaving Titans! He offers a pretty good representation of what I think the attitude and behavior of someone who would choose the life of a vigilante would be, combined with the physical presence. (I'm only part way into season 2 of Titans on HBOMax)

Looks good, I can't wait. Big Reacher book fan and I loved Alan Ritchson in BMS. I think its a great casting, he certainly looks the part.

I love how he is born outside his homeland, but raised in ideals of own homeland.
How he traverses his never seen before homeland never having enough if it. As if it was a boundless treasure chest.
As if he wishes to be part of every piece of it with passion, moving not letting this fresh feeling to ever fade away.
How he is treating it like a precious thing to defend, selflessly - there, where it first should be defended - often from itself & self-corruption. A bit brings ending of Hobbit to mind.
How he treats it with piety of someone who do not feel as the ruler or owner of it but in service of it, with pride of being in the right place, treating it as his rightful heritage, his family hairloom to protect. But a bit too much as a guardian angel ghost.
How he has nothing himself to be attached to but blatantly owns all around him, naturally uses even the best of it for the higher cause. Not treating material things as something dead on museum exhibition or to hoard just for having but means to transform world for better. As that's the way to make world really living, beauty being admired, truth spread, goodness win over evil, tools serving their role, resources being respected by being used, guns being means of protection.
Order being for right order, bad order awakenings chaos to reform & bring back right proportions in nature.
The guy equally living the ideal in delusional pink glasses noticing, appreciating the good side of things & equally making the ideal real again by own efforts, by own presence, radiating own truth on others like a pure seed of hurricane.
It's also great to see a character that consciously continues something.
But there is also that hidden sadness of defending what will never come back, being the last of own line, like a last Mohican.
Being in the move like on a pilgrimage to redeem mistakes that can't be reverted. Continuing the will of those better than us before us, cleaning up the field for the better ones sprouting after us.
Not letting any weakness rule you, your fundamentally weak self rule you, being like a rock, constantly training to be stronger, for oneself, others & the world. Playing the role right & with proper dignity (keeping right proportions). As if all those great before us & homeland watching us. I guess thats the core of being a citizen, son, daughter, mother and father. Greatly self-discussed by Marcus Aurelius.
Doing what should be done first, in truth, along with own human nature. That's the way.

Just binge watched it yesterday, it was surprisingly good. Didn't expect that. And alan ritchison is such a great fit. Acting and action are top notch . Also the tv adaptation is better than the books. This one is more believable. Can't wait for them to adapt worth dying for and tripwire. Well ✔

Great series ! Story, acting, writing, humor.
I watched the 8 episodes ( first time) in a hurry to get the story.
Watched a second time - saw many humorous details that I missed the first time through.
I'll let it cool for a while - then watch again - third time. That is how I've learned to digest the best movies/ series.
Some months later - I expect I'll want to watch again.

i really like Alan Ritchson ever since blue mountain state, its good to see him with roles like this, i hope to see more of him he has the potential to be a huge action/comedy star like the rock/tom cruise/bruce willis/henry calvel, vin diesel etc
HOLY S!?T!! Finally they’re doing it justice and finally someone who actually looks like what Reacher looks like. Don’t get me wrong Tom Cruise is a good action actor but Jack effin Reacher is 6’5” 260 and Cruise is 5’4 and maybe 180. Thank God it’s finally coming!

Really proud of Kip Loyola. He's lost his stutter, has more confidence in himself, he's really come a long way 😂 Seriously though, I'd watch this for Ritchson alone, dude has been good in his roles that I've seen, since Hunger Games to Turtles.

Alan and I are from the same town and 20 years ago his brother and I were college roommates. Alan accidentally broke my foot playing basketball the night before his brother's wedding. Complete accident posting me up for a rebound! It's rare that you get to know somebody that makes you feel good about yourself and treats other people with kindness no matter what. That's who Alan really is and I'm so glad to see his success continue.
Yep Alan looks like how I envisaged Reacher from the books. Really looking forward to this series - hope it lives up to the potential!!
