Maybe try to find someone that you can go with who is willing to take on the hard stuff. My brother who I went with has had heart issues, so I knew going into it I may have had to take on some of the harder stuff. Just a thought. Thanks for watching!
Uhhh, 3:52 is that a silver heron? an endangered species? don't laugh I'm not a bird expert. My scout troupe(1978 Troup 2 East Lansing, Mich.) canoed that in the winter, the snow was so high one could not egress a river bank. The dude in front had to watch for ice sheets that could wedge between the river bottom and canoe thus flipping you! Two canoes were flipped this way. Thank you for showing this.
Definitely a Great Blue Heron. It's a little confusing to some when they see what is thought to be a Great White (primarily Florida) it is actually a juvenile Great Blue.
It's a Meyers Sportspal S-15. It's heavy, which made it not ideal for portaging, but it's amazing for going through the waves that were in the backwaters and the channel. Virtually untippable.
I have wanted to do this since I was a kid. I am too old and decrepit now, so thanks for taking me along on your journey.

cool trip. Those were muskrats you were seeing. There are otters on the river here, but they are pretty rare. I see them more in the impoundments.
That’s awesome
Back in the late 80’s we camped right at the dam
Awesome trip! Thanks for sharing! Beautiful!
Looks like you guys had an awesome time ( other than the storm)!
It was an absolute blast!!! Haha, yeah, we could have done without the storm. 😂
Majestic. I love a good thru paddle! 🤘
You're not allowed in my canoe! 😜 You'll dunk us. jk- Keep up the adventures!
Hahaha, it was a lot of fun!
Some friends and I spent 9 days on the Au Sable. We never lacked for a place to camp. It was the most awesome trip I've ever done.
I can row a boat canoe 🛶....lol...
Good stuff Ron should keep making these
Thank you! I would love to.
Awesome video I would like to do this float camping, and plus you and your brother very cool
Thank you!! It was definitely something we will always remember. We’re so glad we did this, and we hope to do more like this.
Never stand up in a canoe......
Just did this trip solo on a kayak at the beginning of June. Also a video on my channel. Very nice video!
I'll check it out!
If you made it your fishing trip what bridge would you start and stop?
mio to mckinley is my favorite section. Artificial lures only though.
Started out good , then it went all downhill from there LOL
Should have done more of this myself instead wasting my life working.

Wow, doing that in the winter would be amazing!
Hmmmm … I’m honestly not sure, I thought it was a blue heron. 🤷🏻♂️

What canoe is that?

From a time before the robber barons
Used to do this in boyscouts the river has changed in 15 years 😂 I needa do it again
Allways like the rivers used to be the only roads in and out
What a trip! So beautiful all the way
It really is! I'm looking forward to doing it again sometime, this time with everything we learned from the first time. Haha
