    Mujeeb is one of the best guests this podcast has had. He has a unique ability to articulate the workings of technology, so common schmucks like me can even understand it. That is a quality seldom seen from other business leaders with an engineering background. On top of that, he comes off as down to earth and humble.

    Mujeeb Ijaz - Humble and brilliant! This interview was absolutely fascinating. The future of EV and grid power is in good hands with companies like his around.

    I can see Mujeep is a very hands-on CEO, and his background is very believable. I hope his company ONE is successful not like A123. At least A123 seems like gave him excellent EV battery knowledge. Amazingly I watched whole 1 hour and 46 minutes video because of his varyng life experience and his knowledge on the EV subject. Why do I have a feeling that ONE will supply battery for future APPLE cars?

    Some good points, but a lot of cars including the ones I drive (HI5 and GV60), have battery preconditioning and heatpumps, so the range is pretty much entacted (not 50% drop). Also, the preconditioning maintains pretty much the same charging speed. The 800V helps it quickly charge. A lot the cars mentioned in the Podcast are most likely Fords (480V) with slower charging, no preconditioning, and use traditional AC and resistive heating (despite having larger batteries), and per Ford have a lot extra cabling over a mile in some cases, that is not needed.. If Ford and other can overcome those inefficiencies, and perhaps get in early on Solid Stae Batteries, then that's when your 5 to 6 hour+ drive LA to Sacramento (even in bad weather), would be possible.

    I’ve only watched the first 20% so far, but what do you do about the low-cycle-life part of the battery being charged all the time? Or is the idea that you have to plan in advance and tell your car to charge the range-extender battery the night before a long trip?

    Was there a mention of the weight penalty for the 600+ mi car? I assume the cellpack is gonna add lots of weight

    • @jonnylieberman
      @jonnylieberman ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's about the same.

    • @RyanWilliams222
      @RyanWilliams222 ปีที่แล้ว

      One thing to keep in mind is that although increased vehicle weight does reduce range, it doesn’t reduce it how some people might expect. For example, if you have a 300 kg battery that holds 100 kWh of energy and goes 250 miles per charge, switching to a 600 kg battery that also holds 100 kWh wouldn’t reduce the range to 125 miles. Instead, it might reduce it to, say, 200 miles or 225 miles. I made up these numbers to illustrate a point, so they’re not exact, but that’s one thing to keep in mind.
      And of course if you can increase the energy density of the battery, there would be even less of a weight penalty for a heavier battery. (In the example above, the energy density of the heavier battery would be 1/2 of the energy density of the lighter one.)

    Ev range definitely does not need to be doubled for mass adoption. That’s an absurd statement

    Oh Brother, really... First a new battery that comes with the car is ok, but when it fail the replacement is junk. So let's look at what are you going to do with batteries you No longs can rebuild? Throw them in land fill? Dump them in the ocean? Come on!

      I agree with what you stated but you completely missed the point of the interview or the goals of this particular company. Amazing thing about mankind is our unique ability to create our dreams. Oh, and 100 years ago you could not have done your use case, nor put a man in space, nor break the sound barrier, nor see or splice DNA, nor…you get the idea.

    • @shadowmanmc1130
      @shadowmanmc1130 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have to disagree with you, because eventually there’s going to be places where there is no way to fuel up, so technically if there’s no electricity, there’s no way to get fuel fuel, gas, gas station don’t run on no electricity so if you modified the vehicle and brought extra gas tanks, that would be no different than modifying electric car and adding more battery to it but one thing I do know is that a critical moment when you do not have any energy charged vehicle? You can actually use solar power to charge the vehicle you can’t produce your own petroleum fuel for your vehicle please not that I know of
