"So naturally, we challenged her to play one of the metal band’s most popular songs.
Domino Santantonio is known for her upbeat pop drum covers of artists like Dua Lipa and SAINt JHN. For her, drumming to metal would be like trying to speak a language without being fluent.
But we love encouraging drummers to get outside of their comfort zone, and Domino was up for it. Though she opted not to use the double pedal we set up on her kit, she found a way to make Slipknot’s “Before I Forget” her own (get the full song transcription in Drumeo).
Without knowing Joey Jordison‘s famous drum part in advance, Domino managed to hit many of the punches. And while some of her ideas were very different from the original drum part she still made some accurate guesses."

The best thing about Domino playing this song? She has a big smile through it all! She's really enjoying herself playing a song she doesn't know from a genre she usually doesn't play.

I think it's cool that they do this. You can see her getting more comfortable as she goes, and she did a pretty good job after getting into it.

She listen to the song a few times. Joey learned, collaborated revised practice probably for months before going into the studio.

Never listened to slipknot before so I have nothing to compare her take on the drums to, but it sounds pretty good, I'll probably hear a couple of their albums, this got me curious.
I grew up on slipknot. The first album I ever heard was their third album. Vol. 3 subliminal verses
Iowa (2nd album) seems to be most popular of all of their work and for good reason. Songs are just amazing. Anything after vol. 3 just feels off to me and I don’t really like the albums after that. Their first album self titled is also really good and extremely raw and aggressive.
She isn't straight on with original but she does an excellt rendition.

Honestly? I don't think it's her first time hearing that song. Im a drummer myself (would say im a solid drummer), but my friends they r like really good drummers (prob. better than me) and we talked about that video. She got every accent in it. It really seems that she knows the song cause those accents are soooo accurate.
I have no knowledge on music at all, but I am a big fan of Slipknot and I remember when Before I Forget was released. Original fans like me didn't love it, it felt too pop for us, too mainstream. I think her getting the accents, as a pop drummer, really validated what I felt when I listened the song for the first time. It's influenced by pop.
