- We have been living our best #vanlife for just over 6 months now. In this video we discuss the areas of the conversion that haven't turned out exactly as we wanted plus the bits we absolutely love. We also take you on a full tour of our L4H2 Peugeot Boxer camper van which we converted ourselves as complete beginners. This van is fully off-grid capable with 400ah Victron Lithium batteries, 3kw Multiplus inverter/charger, shower, toilet and diesel Combi water/air heater.
Since the beginning of the year we have travelled in our van from the UK across France, Italy, Venice, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece and Albania
You are amazing guys.❤❤
Do both! Both are fantastic places and worth the time 😊
I’m sure we will get to both eventually. But which first? 🤷🏼♀️
@Cheers_dits_207 If you do go to Bali, and if you can, include Indonesia. Well worth it, especially having travelled all that way! At least wo weeks, better three
Great set up 👍
Thanks 👍
Bali…Kuta avoid….u will maybe land there but head away, anywhere..Ubud is nice, I rented a shack in a “ complex”😅, had proper authentic food ( optional in evening….it was worth it to get the duck which is stuffed with things like coconut u have to order that 24 hrs ahead as it’s cooked underground, Māori style…omg that was good. Nice salads too..like sprouty salads with lots of good bits and bobs, food was amazing! I hired a jeep and I picked up 2 girl tourists who came along, beware the police trying to bribe you……they told me the road was closed ahead, and the only way was by a huge diversion…but they did mention there was a possibility they could “ work out” a way for me to sneak thru…lol
100% agree about the windows. Look great but useless in practice as I found out on my Sprinter build. My sliding door is rusting inside so will be replaced and I'll use the caravan type as you mentioned.
I wonder if I could pretend to Terri that our sliding door is rusting? 😂
Your right,When you do raptor on plastics you need to get them super clean with some sort of strong solvent so as its totally stripped and then use the specific raptor plastics etch primer first
Yeh I didn’t pay enough attention to the prep. Will have another go at it this summer
nice video. At least all these mistakes are manageable
@@mathewluby9896 yeh for sure
Try some polytrol on the when you’ve given them all a good clean
Thanks. I’ll have a look
interesting seeing your build and your highlights of areas you feel worked well and not so well. what electrical system did you go with?
@@Alivefrom45 it’s a full Victron setup with 400ah batteries, 525w solar and 3kw Multiplus 2.
I covered a bit of it on a previous video you can find on the channel.
I may also cover it a bit more in depth in a future video if there is any interest?
@@Cheers_dits_207 good chose, sounds like we have the same setup. I was woundering as like us you seem to be setup to be off grid 100% of the time.
Looks great, what cupboards are above the bed?
Thank you 🙌🏽
Those are half height kitchen units from Howdens. I think they’d traditionally be used above a fridge etc in a domestic fitted kitchen.
@@Cheers_dits_207 perfect I’m going to get some
Is your van M1 or N1 category? Do you guys go for technical inspection every year? I don't know, should I buy cargo or passenger van?
@@tomastekorius I don’t know what those categories are. It’s a British vehicle so it has a yearly MOT.
@@Cheers_dits_207 What about road taxes? Since it's a cargo van, does it have any extra?
Well all know...happy wife, happy life. Also maybe it could be nice to take a breake from vanlife? A change of scenery ☺. Not that i think you tiered of vanlife just nice to mix it up maybe? Nice video btw!
@@TheXauro This comment is Terri approved 😂
Hi, I'm interested in the material you used on the panels. It appears to be a tweed of some sort?
Can you confirm what was used as there very few campers with finish. But I'm keen to do it as more professional than the 4 way stretch. Ta
@@keithcrompton6913 it’s from ukfabricsonline.com and is called soft herringbone tweed upholstery fabric in cream 👍🏼
ukfabricsonline.com/soft-herringbone-tweed-fire-retardant-upholstery-fabric
Brilliant thanks
I assume u used fabric spray glue as normal but did u put any thin foam behind?
@@keithcrompton6913 I used a scrim on the grey fabric in the bed area because I wanted it to be a bit softer but didn’t use it on the other areas.
Yeh just the standard contact spray adhesive.
That girl is a million subscribers waiting to happen.
A difficult choice indeed
Hi owatrol polytrol 0.5l are werry god fore fader plastic, hold fore a werry Long time, regards frome norway
Second recommendation for this. I’ll check it out
What’s your business that you run from the van .?
We are actually going to do a full video soon on how we make money. Do you think there would be interest in a video guide/tutorial of how to set up and run a remote business?
Yeah definitely, people always wanna know good ideas and businesses to help live the dream of full time travel or van life
We will definitely put something together
@@Smokeybaconcrew you can guarantee that can you? What’s a Smokey bacon guarantee worth?
Have you thought of adding a roof top A/C unit? For when you’re parked up.
The A/C compressors are powered by battery power. Rather than being powered from the engine, like your van A/C.
You would probably need to work out your solar capacity to make sure you can run the A/C with minimal battery usage in the day.
I don’t think they’re that expensive either.
And for what it’s worth…. I would go to Bali!
Bali is lovely
@@neilp2375 yeh we thought about it. There is no space left on the roof without getting rid of some solar, which then makes running the unit harder.
We have 400ah lithium batteries and 525w of solar.
Forever black on your bumpers
I’ll take a look at this. Thanks
If you guys go to Thailand or Bali for the winter you might never come home
There’s always the danger 😂
It's basicly never appropriate to dump your grey water anywhere but the designated places.
Don't ruin it for everyone.
I disagree. Most of what we put through there is just water. Occasionally mixed with some soap. It’s no worse than people washing their cars or cleaning driveways.
I also don’t subscribe to this attitude of ruining it for everyone. That’s such a UK mentality.
To be honest the van plastics was your fault and the waste tank was your fault so everything has been good really
I take full responsibility for all of my mistakes
@@Cheers_dits_207 I don't because I've made thousands and they can't all be my fault 😁
Pretending van life 😅😅😅😅😅😅
@@ruxod9002 what’s pretending about it?
