Number 1 Question Answered. How Do We Afford To Travel In Our Van Full Time (And How You Can Too!!)
Whether its TH-cam, Instagram or when we meet people face to face, the number 1 question is always - How do you afford to travel full time? Well here is our answer.
We travel Europe and beyond in our self build Peugeot Boxer Campervan. In January this year we left the UK and travelled South all the way through Europe until we hit Turkey where we spent an incredible 3 months exploring the beaches, mountains and everything in between. From there we headed North into the Greece followed by the Balkans before returning to the UK for some van admin.
In this video we ocver 3 ways that we earn, and plan to earn money whilst living VanLife. We are not money making experts, we are not going to sell a course or ask you to sign up to anything. This is purely to explain our situation and maybe give you a few ideas of how you can earn money while travelling full time.
If you have any questions, please leave it in the comments or reach out to us on instagram

I wouldn’t be going to Morocco & I wouldn’t be in Albania.Especially with a blonde who likes to show some skin
Love the blinds were they made to measure .
@@John-wn1co the blinds are from Dometic They’re specific to this variant of van
there is also the option of Remote Jobs, doesn't have to be a business, i'm currently working at home full time & looking at van life
@@CheeseTheFish personally I’d always start a business where possible but I get it’s not for everybody. Remote jobs another great option 👍🏼
Yep doing the same, self employed and shooting landscape photography, website, all cost deductible :)
@@arkstudios1 can’t believe it’s taken me so long to realise that’s possible 😂
The window blinds are great. Where did you get them? Thanks.
@@hazelem1266 The Dometic blinds on the front widows? We picked them up from a motorhome store in Greece but you can find a local dealer through the Dometic website
@@Cheers_dits_207 thank you very much. We were in Athens in May, pity we didn’t know about it. I will look on the web.
@@hazelem1266 this was up in Thessaloniki. You should find a supplier locally 👍🏼
This is the first time I've seen your channel I enjoyed watching this episode. as far as any reliability issues with the van itself have you had any problems however minor to do with the van specifically? I appreciate the Citroen Peugeot Fiat and not of the same quality as some of the Mercedes VW options but generally you get what you pay for to an extent.
@@SB-hr5yr thank you. The only problem we’ve had is with the DPF and from what I’ve read, that’s pretty much to be expected with these vans.
With that thumbnail, and all i got was health and safety 😉
😂
For your viewers - i met quite a few van travellers who said they were unemployed, receiving benefits but managed to exist and even tour in Europe without any other income - i was surprised at that! Others on my travels in Europe seemed to have no income and existed and i guessed were doing the same. Anyone know if this is possible as i find it hard to believe!
@@G4NoChallenge I think benefits entitlements stop after 28 days outside of the UK but could be wrong. We met some people that didn’t have any UK income but instead did ‘workaway’ for free accommodation & food.

NEW subscriber, before i even watched the video, because of your name! Chhers Dits is what i always say to my navy mates. are you ex armed forces??
Where did you get the blinds from?

@@Cheers_dits_207 Thanks for the quick reply! Just been looking at your videos, you talked about the bulkhead delete in one of the videos when talking about the overhead storage above the driver and passenger seat? Was that something you brought?
@@mattbaskerville2222 the bulkhead delete is just the plastic trim that covers the gaps from taking the bulkhead out. We got that from Solway Camper Conversions
@@Cheers_dits_207 Thanks again for the quick reply! Trying to decide between a boxer or a sprinter any advice?
No problem. Hard to say, I have no experience of the Sprinter. Boxers commonly have DPF issues which we have experienced but they are an easier shape to build in. The width ways bed was a big factor for us
Shes gonna be famous
Can you provide a link to where you purchased your roof boxes please? Thanks.

Brilliant video pals 😊
Thank you 😁
Saw this video few days ago and was trying to find your channel again but couldnt remember the channel name I could of sworn it was called Great_Tits no idea why.
Hey mate .. I'm not sure if you fixed the overheating. Check if the fan has enough power to cool the system, although it can rotate, it might not have enough power to actually do the job. I had this problem before , one mechanic just put a piece of paper box and the fun stoped..so it was only rotation.. it might not necessary be the same for you , but is worth checking out ..
Great video, thank you. I opened to learn about Albania and watched it not realising that this was one of your first videos. You are both very natural in front of the camera and present a really good story about your journey. Very much look forward to the next video and I have now subscribed. It's really nice to see that you are replying to the comments - it makes people feel more engaged with your journey.
@@IanB-cd9pe thank you 🙌🏽 that’s very kind. We had a great time in Albania but filmed very little of it.
Great vlog just subscribed, how did your dog cope in 40 degree heat, we have a small dog even though she loves the sun she’s not been in that sort of heat, also what do you do with your dog when you go swimming, thanks Pete
Thanks, Pete 🙌🏽 He struggled a bit when temps were that high. We would put down a damp towel for him to lay on which helped and regularly dipped his paws in cool water. He generally comes with us when we swim bit stays on the bank. He’s not a fan of water

When you are filming with the front facing camera on your phone, is there a way you can get these images to not be backwards?!
@@DVaccarelli1988 yes you can choose whether to mirror the front camera or not in settings. It looks like on this video that Terri doesn’t have it mirrored but I do. Should probably change that 🤔
@@Cheers_dits_207 It didn't looked mirrored when Terri was filming in the passenger seat earlier in the video, but the when you were filming with the front camera, it was mirrored.
@DVaccarelli1988 yeh that’s right. Different settings on each of our phones
Cool video. have fun ❣
Thank you 🤗
Wow, amazing job on this build!
Thank you so much!
This looks like an amazing life. I need to get a business that runs itself!
@@darkwaxer video on how we do that coming soon 😂
Why no habitation AC in the van?
@@gordonjohnston684 it’s expensive and power hungry. We don’t often visit campsites so it wouldn’t run for long without shore power. Having said that, we may consider it anyway. Can you recommend any particular model?
A nice couple full of energy and a fantastic van. The best of luck guys ❤
@@HmdJms thank you 🙌🏽
Morocco you can do what you need in a long weekend. If you're looking to fill a month, Bali, the Maldives, Indonesia, etc., is the way to go.
@@simonblooddevay we would be looking at spending longer than a few days 😂 We would be in Morocco for 3 months
Wow, there's only so many hookahs you can smoke, spices you can buy, and drug cartels you can establish, before you find that even for a confirmed beach-dweller like me, there's only so much sand you can look at! ;) Happy Trails. Great YTs, thank you. That tip about the MaxFan was key. I was thinking of a rear-mount like yours would leave more unbroken real-estate on the roof; but... mozzies suck, literally.
@@Cheers_dits_207Morocco is great for 2-3 months 👍
Pickup Truck Bed-Liner Paint is amazing for things like plastic trim, especially when you're often on non-metalled roads...

interesting seeing your build and your highlights of areas you feel worked well and not so well. what electrical system did you go with?
@@Alivefrom45 it’s a full Victron setup with 400ah batteries, 525w solar and 3kw Multiplus 2. I covered a bit of it on a previous video you can find on the channel. I may also cover it a bit more in depth in a future video if there is any interest?
@@Cheers_dits_207 good chose, sounds like we have the same setup. I was woundering as like us you seem to be setup to be off grid 100% of the time.
Have you thought of adding a roof top A/C unit? For when you’re parked up. The A/C compressors are powered by battery power. Rather than being powered from the engine, like your van A/C. You would probably need to work out your solar capacity to make sure you can run the A/C with minimal battery usage in the day. I don’t think they’re that expensive either. And for what it’s worth…. I would go to Bali! Bali is lovely
@@neilp2375 yeh we thought about it. There is no space left on the roof without getting rid of some solar, which then makes running the unit harder. We have 400ah lithium batteries and 525w of solar.
Is your van M1 or N1 category? Do you guys go for technical inspection every year? I don't know, should I buy cargo or passenger van?
@@tomastekorius I don’t know what those categories are. It’s a British vehicle so it has a yearly MOT.
@@Cheers_dits_207 What about road taxes? Since it's a cargo van, does it have any extra?
If you guys go to Thailand or Bali for the winter you might never come home
There’s always the danger 😂
What’s your business that you run from the van .?
We are actually going to do a full video soon on how we make money. Do you think there would be interest in a video guide/tutorial of how to set up and run a remote business?
Yeah definitely, people always wanna know good ideas and businesses to help live the dream of full time travel or van life
We will definitely put something together
@@Smokeybaconcrew you can guarantee that can you? What’s a Smokey bacon guarantee worth?
Your right,When you do raptor on plastics you need to get them super clean with some sort of strong solvent so as its totally stripped and then use the specific raptor plastics etch primer first
Yeh I didn’t pay enough attention to the prep. Will have another go at it this summer
Hi, I'm interested in the material you used on the panels. It appears to be a tweed of some sort? Can you confirm what was used as there very few campers with finish. But I'm keen to do it as more professional than the 4 way stretch. Ta

It's basicly never appropriate to dump your grey water anywhere but the designated places. Don't ruin it for everyone.
I disagree. Most of what we put through there is just water. Occasionally mixed with some soap. It’s no worse than people washing their cars or cleaning driveways. I also don’t subscribe to this attitude of ruining it for everyone. That’s such a UK mentality.
Grey water is good for the garden??😊😊😊
Bali…Kuta avoid….u will maybe land there but head away, anywhere..Ubud is nice, I rented a shack in a “ complex”😅, had proper authentic food ( optional in evening….it was worth it to get the duck which is stuffed with things like coconut u have to order that 24 hrs ahead as it’s cooked underground, Māori style…omg that was good. Nice salads too..like sprouty salads with lots of good bits and bobs, food was amazing! I hired a jeep and I picked up 2 girl tourists who came along, beware the police trying to bribe you……they told me the road was closed ahead, and the only way was by a huge diversion…but they did mention there was a possibility they could “ work out” a way for me to sneak thru…lol
Looks great, what cupboards are above the bed?
Thank you 🙌🏽 Those are half height kitchen units from Howdens. I think they’d traditionally be used above a fridge etc in a domestic fitted kitchen.
