EMD Open House

This video contains photographs taken at Electro-Motive Division's (EMD's) open house in LaGrange, Illinois on Saturday June 10, 1978. The open house was held for EMD to showcase its latest progress in locomotive technology and manufacturing processes. EMD was a part of General Motors until 2005 when it was sold to Greenbriar Equity Group and Berkshire Partners that formed "Electro-Motive Diesel".

My mom was one of the few female welders there. She welded noses and cabs on a lot of BN SD40-2 and CNW GP50s....

I'm glad i took an open house tour in the 1990's a few years before meeting my girlfriend that used to work there.

I worked there from 1997 to 2007, mostly in the crankcase machining department. There's enough blame to go around, for why EMD isn't there anymore. It's really upsetting. I greatly miss the place and my former colleagues.😡.
