  • Once upon a time media personality and author John Gathright was asked a question: "Please help me climb a tree." This simple question changed his life forever and sent him climbing towards a very different, and very inspiring goal.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

What a wonderful discovery you have done doctor John. Amazing outcomes and very timely. Mankind destroys Earth everyday. It's nice to see someone placing importance On trees which play such an important role for mankind. I had the pleasure of sitting next to doctor John on a Flight recently and it left an impression on my mind of hope and love.

Dr. John, that was the most powerful and beautiful presentation i've ever seen!! I cherish my moments that I got to spend with you chatting about our pasts. Even for just a few hours. I still talk about the work we did together and the beautiful pieces of equipment I got to watch and help develop. I am totally honored to have crossed paths with such a wonderful person with such a wonderful mission in life. Building the (rope) bridge between nature and humanity. I had given up on trying to bring the two together. But you found the way. Stay strong my friend, thank you for inspiring me even still, and keep on eating that raw fish (yuk!) ha ha ha. JP

Beautiful! My husband is a working arborist ... 35+ years ... I can say from personal experience, trees are amazingly healing. Would love to know the gear you used to get Osaka-san up the tree ...
