The project was mostly finished before Mac passed. In interviews Brion said he only messed with 3 or 4 songs. Funnily enough, a song he altered a lot was Hands. Quite a bit of this project is all Mac, he played bass, drums, guitar and the synths on a lot of this shit. Brion added what they'd agreed upon, and then guessed for stuff like Hands (where Mac said he wanted it to sound big) and good news where he had two or 3 people come in to play on it. Brion did a great fucking job.

this is all true, but i think the way you worded it implies that jon brion only had an influence over 3 or 4 songs, when in reality he was working with mac throughout the recording process, co-wrote 5 songs, and produced the entire album. i know you probably know this, but i just wanted to clear that up for anyone else reading your comment. i agree, brion did a great job. this is my favourite mac album by quite a distance.

I've never really been Mac Miller fan(never hated him, just never got into him), but after watching this review and seeing how much Myke and Ken enjoyed it I decided to check it out and wow... this album was incredible. I'm in a horrible place right now emotionally and mentally due to something really bad happening in my personal life and this album just hit me hard. It was already sad that someone so young who'd touched so many peoples lives had passed, especially under the circumstances that he did, but it genuinely makes me sad that we're never going to get to see where he was going to go next in his career.
Thank you Myke and Ken for getting me interested in this amazing album. Without you guys and this review I would't have decided to give it a listen. So again, thank you guys for that and also for making such amazing content both here and on your personal channel as well in Myke's case. Also, thank you Mac for making this incredible album. It really sucks that you're gone man. I've always felt that way but this album has made me realize that even more. Rest In Peace, man.

Would've loved to know how they felt about Faces, because the concept for Faces was that was supposed to be his last project. He anticipated he would die after Faces because of his drug abuse so it was supposed to be his going away gift. It was so fire. But this Circles album is the magnum opus of his singer songwriter style. I love it so much more than Swimming its crazy.
But yall gotta give Mac's rapping more of a shot he's got bars and hella flow. He was the rap diablo, and will continue to be that.
And yeah Rod is right there were supposed to be 3 albums, and the last album was supposed to be more on his rapping shit to prove he could still be on it in terms of rapping. I would've loved it, but yall probably would've passed.

Im from Pittsburgh, grew up on mac with my friends in jr high in 2009 (which is why 2009 off swimming hits hard). Fast forward, I tried to put all my friends on Swimming bc I loved it so much. Was in Pitt driving home from work thinking, "man i can't wait to go home, relax and play swimming" when i found out he died. Was iffy about a posthumous album but I enjoyed this as well, glad yall reviewed this. Thank you for all yall do!

Yeah y'all hate on Myke a lot, until you agree with him. I've noticed with time that while he's a little arrogant and kind of hysteric sometimes, he's mostly right about stuff, he's the less boomer of the bunch, the most open-minded, and the most logical and well-versed in music. Hell, most of the time he just spitting facts.

I have a lot of respect for you guys. A lot of people that didn't care for Mac or his music are publically turning their opinions around because he passed away. Not out of respect, but for brownie points
You guys have stuck with your opinions though, and I can really respect that. You're not pretending that you always loved him, you Re acknowledging that he wasn't an artist you were huge on. That's way more respectful than only loving someone's work because they died
    Keep up the great shit

Hey B...Jon Brion executive co-produced Late Registration! You can compare the moody strings, the percussions, and transitions on both projects. He also worked on a lot of the tracks for Swimming. Mike...there is a Jon Brion version of the Fiona Apple album Extraordinary Machine floating around. It’s what made Kanye want collab with him in the first place.

Rest in peace MAC MILLER. I’ve just listen to this album and I was nothing but impressed with the sensitivity and transparency he brought to this album. It sucks it took until he’s passing for me to appreciate his artistry but I would have to say that’s because he probably didn’t connect with me whilst he was aboveground. To try and imagine this album without being conscious of his passing he’s probably an exercise in futility. Nonetheless I cannot wait to listen to this album again and actually be in the circumstance what I can fully salt in everything that he’s saying

Mac's singing has the same appeal to me as Lou Reed. Reed was the lead singer of The Velvet Underground, and eventually did solo stuff too. His voice was gruff, and often strained, but it was also very personable. 'Pale Blue Eyes' has a similar tambre to what's on Circles - I think Mac hit it out of the mark on this one.
