    Love these episodes. Takes me back to my high school days. Hearing my dad laughing his butt off downstairs every week night. Johnny was pure gold.

    The Macintosh, Dolly Parton, and Ford Pinto gag was great.
    Only Johnny (as Carnac) could pull those off. If you tried that nowadays you'd get sued.

    Bit of a delay after the "after hours tailor shop". The audience took a few second to get it, with the people who liked it being a little quicker than those who didn't.

    If only we had late night comedy shows on the air today that actually did "comedy" and were as funny and entertaining as the Great Carnac. We really had some great, talented funny people that the networks would put on the air - Carson, Letterman, Leno, etc. It's all nothing but a crap sandwich today.

    • @Gk2003m
      @Gk2003m 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I beg to differ. Letterman and Leno were the beginning of the downfall of late night. Colbert is better than both of them, by a mile.

      In private people have described Johnny as a centrist man in his politics. A sort of Eisenhower republican, on the moderate left side. He told friends that he was opposed to racism, opposed the Vietnam War, wanted racial equality. Supportive of gay people to be treated in equal way. Here is a quote from Johnny in 1970 "In my living room I would argue for liberalization of abortion laws, divorce laws, and there are times when I would like to express a view on the air. I would love to have taken on Billy Graham, but I'm on TV five nights a week; I have nothing to gain by it and everything to lose."

    Johnny had many liberal views but shied away getting political. He was asked about this and replied,"I dont want to lose half my audience." Today its TDS on all the talk shows.

      Johnny used political comments all the time. He killed Jerry Brown governor of California. He did Watergste jokes for years. He despised Mayor Bradley and took on Jimmy Carter and many of the cabinet offices from that era.
