The entirety of downtown is scarred with vast empty parking lots instead of a dense walkable community with shops and third spaces, what did you think was gonna happen?
Why haven't they figured out that people are tired of coming Downtown to just eat and drink? If they had more diverse retail options maybe people would come down there. How about bringing shopping options? People live Downtown now and they don't have places to shop. This city does not think outside the box, it's annoying. Now that the Marina has been built up it's time to move in building up the rest of the city. Also, why would anyone want to come Downtown when Elmwood and Hertel have more things to offer?
Why do you want traffic so much? Isn't not having traffic a good thing? Get over it. Remote work is the new way. It's a lot better than physically going to work everyday listening to your boss. We need more flexibility in this city. Remote is how it should be done.
Cry me a river. You can work remotely for companies all over the country. It's better for the individual and less expensive for the companies utilizing it. The best thing to come out of covid was the new model of remote work.
Buffalo needs to drive an increase in housing downtown. The reliance on businesses to draw people into downtown is not reliable anymore. Like he said, a long term sustainable urban core has to have people LIVING and working in it.
I work in downtown regularly. There is tons of parking downtown. Just not necessarily adjacent to your destination. I have to walk two blocks from one of the parking ramps. Buffalo has some of the lowest rents in the state, but that doesn't say much considering New York as a state in general has high rents. There are jobs, just not necessarily what you are willing to do. They have eased up on the speed and traffic cams from what I have noticed. Byron Brown saw the writing on the wall when he almost lost his mayoral election to a soft on crime socialist, who would have made this city even worse.
downtown is unsafe, nothing to do, unpleasant, no shops/cafes really nothing is appealing about being there. Events and encouraged development needs to be instituted for the heart of the city. Thats what tourists probably see first out of their hotel windows.
How about block off some streets permanently and make pedestrian areas like all other thriving cities have done. Add some areas that are covered so there’s shelter from the rain? People would be commuting in and working from cafes and flex spaces if it was a pleasant environment to work from.
Downtowns for cities are an obsolete idea. I live near Tampa and never go downtown. There's nothing there that isn't where I live, northeast of Tampa. My first trip downtown in a year will be for a Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game when they play my team next week. That's it.

Are they implying Buffalo was thriving pre plandemic😂😂😂😂. Come on, maybe in the 1950s.
It was on the upswing. Not exactly booming back but there was progress.
Working from home is awesome!
Well why dont u actually make fun places for adults to enjoy as well as eat at. When its finally time to go out these restaurants are a bore
Main Street, downtown has been and always will be a ghost town. No excuses after 50+ years.

Converting the offices to housing is the move
You get what you vote for.

That's been happening for years now. They just haven't brought any retail down there.
traffic down because people are leaving!!!!!!
That's not why dipshit. They actually tell you why.... jfc
No parking, high rent and mortgages, no jobs, speed and traffic cams everywhere. No draw for anyone to go but an incentive to stay away from buffalo.

Convert more offices into housing. Heads in beds.

Downtown is not unsafe. I've lived down there and never had any problems.
