Give it the most sunlight by planting it on the south side to protect it from the north wind in the winter but also avoid evening sun or you could stunt its growth and bake it's leaves? Simple enough.
@georgiafarmingwithfluevog How are the banana trees? I know we had a couple weeks of very cold weather last year or the year before. Curious how they are doing.
Hey Michael, I am in zone 8a in Atlanta. Last year I had them in pots and brought them indoors. This year I’m going to be trying a couple new techniques for overwintering. Pipe tape, Christmas lights, bubble wrap, etc. To really find out what works. We only get down to upper 20’s in Atlanta and probably only about 10 times. So you only need to help a little to keep those stems alive. But lots of testing coming this fall and winter!
I think it just got stunted a little by the heat. Pruning additional leaves can help reduce heat exhaustion because then it’s not absorbing as much sunlight anymore. The ones on your front yard are killing it. I think the partial shade helps
@@blaynesplantvlog7117 If your temperatures stay above 60 into late october, I think theres a good chance you will get a flower. It really depends on the variety though. Some don't fruit until like 15 feet - so hopefully that's not what you have
@@georgiafarmingwithfluevog a new leaf came out and it is doing the exact same thing as the rest not really extending its leaf stem out .. now the crown is very crowded and the leaf pedials are stacking on top of each other with much stem growth

Just trying to be specific haha. People love details. This is the ideal setup for maximizing growth if possible
Just planted one but leaves are browning out even with watering it daily but it does get all day sun
Great video. What kindnof tree is rhat in rhe background? Japanese maple? How long have yoy has it?
Looks like a crimson japanese maple
Bananas actually grow better close together still some good tips tho
Thank you! -Louisiana

Very good and educative
Good information to n know 👍 thanks
Hi, is whole day sunlight acceptable for these trees. Ours is a desert kind of place.

I just planted about a ten inch in a Large container. I live in hot humid texas. Should I put it where it gets just morning sun
Good video what do you do in the winter and and what zone are you in

Wow! That is taller than mine!
Please help I got beetles eating the leaves.. I tried neem spray but they still eating. DE won’t stay on the leaves
What about states that have snow for months at a time ?
Unfortunately it’s going to be really hard for you. I’d suggest growing in a pot so you can bring them indoors
What do you think is happening to my banana and what should I do?

@@georgiafarmingwithfluevog do you think it will have a chance at flowering by late fall? It’s almost a year old as I over wintered it

@@georgiafarmingwithfluevog oh that would be amazing to see a flower!!!
oh right i'm growing my own bananas cause i ate some in a store and they don't taste that good to me
Does this cause a lot of pests and diseases from banana 🍌 plants? Or not really much issues
I have not had any issues with pests or disease yet. Just make sure they don’t stay wet and sit in water
I don’t know what this guy is talking about when it comes to heat. I live in Las Vegas where temp reach 120° and my bananas do great in full sun.
If your bananas are in a more mild climate, large swings in temperature are not good for them
