One of the things that people either don't know or often forget about battletech? There are legit canon alien life forms that are big enough to basically actually fight some mechs. Good job.
While that is technocally correct, a *lot* of sci-fi rightly reserves the term "alien" for new and/or advanced non-terran life. The inhabitants of the setting themselves would doubtlessly not think of mundane extraterrestrial flora and fauna as anything worth putting in the same special category as unknown life forms, @@adepressedcatwithabadnicot246. It's also in keeping with other primary uses of "alien"; which are roughly synonymous with exotic, foreign, or even just "not me".
Ok, did not see that coming but I am pleasently surprised. As others here have said its not easy to do horror in Battletech, the setting doesn't allow for it really. Yet you found a way to make what was a basic raid for a merc company and turn it into a horror story without the antagonist even being human. Thats brillant and I adore it.
Ohhh I dunno about that; in a galaxy's worth of planets and alien life forms I'd say there's plenty of room for surprises that aren't clanners or rival houses.
Making a horror in which protagonist is a 10 meters tall battle robot with weapons size of a decent truck is a exceptional achievement. Never thought i would see battletech from this perspective. Good job!
Glad you enjoyed it! Personally I was fascinated by the more exotic fauna in the Battletech universe as well as the very early novels leaving the distinction between advanced technology and magic ambiguous. I love me some mechs but the worlds are where my attention generally lies.

So, the clan Ghost Bear Hellbringer, her pilot long since dead and herself nothing more than a frozen mech corpse, her green cockpit light luring the unwary to their doom. Extremely well done! Though I have questions regarding the “monster” beneath the ice and those spooky green lights. Actual ghosts of clan Ghost Bear? Or some multi-eyed swimming monster native to this icy inhospitable world? I hope you do more Halloween-based mechwarrior content as this was extremely well done!
@@brayachdragonbane7529 I looked up the planet on Sarna, and it says the highest forms of life are plants, meaning, and I personally find this even more terrifying, that someone brought that thing to the planet
Watching this a year later is fridge brilliance, as what happened is entirely up to viewer perception, as what happened could be chalked up to anomalous alien wildlife, a secret clan submersible weapon, or perhaps even just an atmospheric anomaly.
So, it was an alien lifeform that used the derelict clan mechs as a sort of radar to find other mechs, or was this really just robot space ghosts under the ice?
I think the mech itself was just damaged due to weather and its cockpit lights were cycling on and off due to reactor damage. This drew others to the area to investigate and they fell through thinner ice to the creature below. If you look on Sarna, that planets highest life is plant life, which means maybe no one has ever lived to report that there is something far bigger just under the ice.
What a fantastic and well written ghost story, it gives me vibes of tales of old derelict ghost ships out on the open seas capsizing other boats, really cool stuff!
