In Starfighter I remember enemies crazy amounts of HP. So much so that there's no reason to not be shooting constantly during some missions. In fact I recall my Mom commenting "do you do anything other than shoot on that computer?? I come home and all I hear is shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot!!" And screw the last level, Battle For Naboo does it better. And I love the n1's cluster missiles on that game.
I grew up playing Starfighter - when it released during the PS2 era, it was one of the best games to play. My dad wasn't big into gaming and he'd play this nonstop after watching me. Jedi starfighter imo wasn't AS good of a base game, but i loved all the unlocks and ships you could play as - because in the first Starfighter i always wanted to play as Jenkins ship. Let alone the Slave 1 added
You are killing it with your Star Wars content man and filling in my nostalgia for sure thank you sir I am a lot older then you but I love hearing about your experiences 😊
12:54 "This is Starkiller level power!" That's actually funny you say that since Jedi Starfighter's lead writer was W. Haden Blackman who also wrote on Starfighter and would later be the main writer of the whole Force Unleashed multimedia project.
Fun thing to note. In the space mission Nym's bombs fly straight, in the planetary missions they arc. The game actually made bombs act differently in Zero G! (The X-Wing and TIE Fighter simulator games also have them fly straight, but the Sim Games are never under Gravity so they don't have the arced version) Heck in Jedi Starfighter the mini-moonlet in one mission actually has its own low gravity so distance from it changes the bomb behavior!
Fun review! Took me through a enjoyable nostalgic journey. It’s worth mentioning for people who haven’t played the games before, the controls are extremely arcadey. Very fast paced and flowey. Adi Galia isn’t a new character. She appeared in episode 1 and 2. She was also a playable character In the ps1 game Jedi power battle, for some reason she had a red lightsaber in that game. I’ll definitely check out more of your videos!
These videos are awesome. Its cool to see youve done your homework and really take time to explain lore and such. Hope to see a rogue squadron 2 video. That was my first star wars ship game
You should check out the Clone Wars game for Xbox & PS2 if you’ve never played it before, another enjoyable Star Wars vehicle game focused mainly on hover tanks and republic gunships.
9:04 I love those howitzer tanks. They never show up anywhere else. They got replaced as HAGs by the barely-bigger-than-an-AAT Mortar Tanks from Pandemic Clone Wars.
Starfighter reminds me of Battle for Naboo. TH-cam videos like this do a good job of convincing me I could never make TH-cam videos. If this video is this good and still has so few views...well, awesome video anyway.
Did you play the pc version? I recently discovered that if you cap your fps to 30 in the first Starfighter game the screenshake when you get hit isn't that bad. The engine does't like higher fps.
I think that the cutscenes are by the Massachusetts-and-Saint-Petersburg (Yes in russia) company that also did the prerendered cutscenes for Pandemic's clone Wars and the space cutscenes for Raven's Jedi Outcast.
Honestly, the focus on Nym was probably due to the tie in comics. He was pretty much the star of the show there. Kinda wish he had more stories dedicated to him. I hear he shows up in Star Wars Galaxies.
The camera shake is not supposed to be this huge. It stems from a bug - the amount of shaking is tied to FPS, and on modern hardware the FPS are huge, much larger than desired 30 in early 2000s. But with some config manipulation you can disable camera shaking altogether. Since this problem is a bug, not a feature, I wholeheartedly recommend it.
@@evprince @evprince In that case let me help you by telling you what you have to do. On Steam/Gog click Browse local files option. Then in the Star Wars Starfighter folder you will find Game directory. Within it find the file called Autoexec There you have to comment out or delete three lines: all with 'Shake' word within the line. Use Find/Replace tool withing Notepad to find it. This will remove all camera shake from the game. There is alternative fix by limiting FPS in the game to 30, using external software such as Riva Tuner, but this did not work for me for some reason.
@@evprince I tried to post you the solution how to do it, but TH-cam does not like any pieces of text that resemble code, apparently, and deletes the comment. You will find the solution on Steam forums of this game. The articles is called: Disable Screen Shake by the guy called "Some Random Avali".
Great SW reviews and analysis! You got a new subscriber man! You REALLY should get into X-Wing Alliance and talk about the Upgrade patch, thi is probably THE BEST star wars flight sim with super heavy lore.
I like the cheatcode to play as the enemy fighter with its really cool design, but the problem it has is a complete lack of secondary weapons OR even access to the force!
The Xbox versions of at least one of the Starfighter games had multiplayer. Would love to know more about how it played. Always kept staring at the box in stores, but never got to play it.
first game has split screen co-op on console, second game i grew bored with very fast, dont think its cool with jedi pilot casting force powers from the cockpit, otherwise the game does not look like a star wars game, just spaceship go pewpew

I have both games on PS2. I remember buying Starfighter for my birthday along with Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb.

Blackman made a lot of interesting games and comics.

I really loved these games, at the time it was like a level up from Rogue Squadron graphically but not in the story IMO
Love both of these games and am currently on a retro game kick. Thanks for reminding me to add them to the list because I still own them
Star Wars Starfighter is one of those fun games to rent in Blockbuster to play over the weekend.

You should review Clone Wars on PS2. It’s another vehicle combat game kinda like Battle of Naboo that was released on the 64

I've thought about doing a deeper video on these two games, so maybe I'll do that with this fix!

15:04 yes I remember this ❤
Did u just call old x-Wing game primitive as opposed to Starfighter?:-)
I loved this one as a kid.
I like the cheatcode to play as the enemy fighter with its really cool design, but the problem it has is a complete lack of secondary weapons OR even access to the force!
13:04 the shield did help sometimes
3:56 I didn't know Ryan gosling was in star wars 😅
9:16 It's a different bubbleshield than the movie.
great vid! loved this!
i have such fond memories of play jedi star fighter at my uncles house growing up

Dope as always!
11:10 I enjoyed this game. Im bummed she didn’t survive in the movies
13:02 same
I always thought these were the same game. I never knew there was 2 of them
what is a reasonable period of time?
Hi! Can you tell me why Rogue Squadron 3D is very difficult than this game?
You should look into Jedi Powerbattles
Video coming on that later this year fs
I remember getting Jedi Starfighter first and then going back and playing Starfighter and well….yeah. Prefer Jedi
At least Rhys and Esara
Pretty sure you pronuced the names wrong.
