Just for the people who didn't notice this: Lidner regularly informed Mello about Nears plans and the status of their investigation. After she told Mello about the plan to meet up with Kira himself and confront him, Mello was the only one to consider the fact that Kira might've seen through this plan and made his own preparations. Mello therefore came up with a plan to assure that Kira would be caught: He kidnapped Takada so that the second Kira would take action in form of getting the real notebook (Mikami went to the bank, ultimately leading to Gevanni discovering that the notebook has been exchanged). In this plan however, Mello was under an enormous risk of being killed, as it happened in the end. Thus, together Mello and Near were strong enough to capture Kira (with L's help of course). Mello is a Criminal and a Prideful genius just like Light and L, but unlike L he has no problems of dirtying his hands for exposing Kira. Mello could unite all criminals and underworld under his wing, and become a masked terrorist, challenging Kira to put his justice on him, this would have definitely embarrassed and angered Light, and put pressure on him. If I suspected she had anything that could kill me, I'd even giver the full course body cavity search. Behind the teeth, under the tongue. Absolute thoroughness. Then mello would have lived.
Yea I know. Only reason he died was because he decided to be decent and let takada cover herself up. But in the end near had respect for Mello and admitted that he wouldn't have won without his help. Mello will always be remembered by the fans and near himself
The reason was because Mello's main goal wasnt to live but to capture Kira. Light would have never written down Takada's name unless he was sure her kidnapper(Mello) was dead so he can cover up any relationship between Kira and her, and to destroy the pieces of the Note book which had Mello's name written on it. By sacrificing himself Mello ensured Light would write down Takada's name so Light would have no idea that Mikami also wrote her name.

There was a time skip of 5 years between L’s death and the present events. Mello was 19-20 when he got involved in the case
@@obakekitsune he was actually 19-20 after the time skip happened
and was the leader of a fucking mafia
the way Mello eats chocolate slightly bothers me, it has lines… pleas.e.. break it into pieces…😭😭
Some people don't like getting their hands or gloves dirty.
He is so underrated
Agreed. He deserved way more screen time; he really broke up the ‘meticulous and calculated’ approach that Light, L, and Near used, Mello just breaks in and does the most jaw dropping shit ever lol
The way he eats chocolate is truely infurating
The weird thing is, I don't think you ever see him chewing it. You only see him biting pieces of it off the bar.
@@n0tk0sher he just spits them out afterwards like a true menace
@@Mephora Or he just swallows them whole off screen, that can't be good for his throat or stomach
I feel mello was really underrated
He was a genius and such an awesome guy
It would have been so awesome if he and Near teamed up from the get go. Yeah, due to Mello's character and personality that couldn't happen, but think about it. Near would be behind the scenes, Mello would be the action. They could have made a great team.
@@tokyoqueen6738 yeah but at the end they did work together. Mello knew he would die but still he did it.Without mello near wouldhave fallen for Kira's trick of fake notebook and everyone would have been killed at the end during the meeting
@@tokyoqueen6738 We certainly could have 😮💨
L is Batman, Near is Nightwing and Mello is Red Hood.
Watari is Alfred
Batman outsmarts all of them
Ryuk is joker
Everybody gangsta until Mello gon' *TELL* you what we're gonna do 😯
Mello is such a wasted opportunity, he could be the real Nemsis for Light/Kira. Mello is simmilar yet diffrent to Kira an L. Also we didn't see much of the underworld and criminals. it would have been intresting to see their reaction to Light/Kira judgements, espcially the side of corrupt politiciens and criminal leaders.
yknow they should have kept the rest of the manga in the second part because it would really show his progression as a character
I agree. Near was also much better in the manga, too. Mello and Near tend to get a lot of hate, but I think more people would appreciate them if the anime had shown these characters the way they were portrayed in the manga.
@@KitsunesTrove Part 2 is actually neat but I must admit L's death can be hard to accept
@@gentledandelion I actually really like the second half of the series. I enjoyed it just as much as much as the first half. And while L's death was definitely sad, the death that hit me the hardest was Soichiro's. That one was hard for me.
There’s no differences in them in the manga
@@KitsunesTrove I would appreciate it if I was called a fake person less often.
1:19 bro just called me incompetent in different ways
i wonder who inherited his lifetime supply of chocolate bars
Sidoh, of course.
COnfuSIoN
Also mello:
I AM A PETULANT CHILD CHOCOLATE IS MY DEFINING CHARACTER TRAIT HGRHFGRGRHFH *insert explosion*
The way he doesn't break off the chocolate correctly always bugged me 💀
thats exactly what i thought! Like how can he eat 2 rows of the bar at a time? Its not right.
He is smart enough to get the perfect bite and do it wrong.
The bro-est bro that ever bro-ed.
Silly Mello.
Mellow is my favourite character in the series... He is far more human and far more relatable than the emotionless bots L and Near...
*snaps chcolate bar with teeth*
MELLO BEST CHARACTER
I've never seen someone eat chocolate so intently holy crap. He looks like Taylor Swift . I can't unsee it lol
Ari he also has the same birthday as Taylor Swift lmaooo
OH MY GOD
Taylor Swift has never been so badass.
No😭😭😭
I wish there were more badass characters like Mello, I thank the voice actor for making him even more cool with that epic voice
Mello Is Tactic and Savage
Thanks
I'll take a chcolate bar and EAT it
1:53 you know something is going down when that song kicks in
Mello is my dawg fr
He’s the reason why I wanna buy chocolate bars- (I love him so much omg-)
same
Mello probably got the best english VA
fr, he makes Mello sound so cool
Usually I like the Japanese dub but I like English dub of death note and dragonball more
I really like the English dub of Death Note, too. Death Note and also Code Geass.
he got the He-Man haircut
He has the Powerrr.....
I always likened to Buster Brown/little dutch boy style
Tbh I like the way he eats chocolate bar
Almost 15 years old?! Man when I was 10 I became a pokemon master. Took me 25 years, but now that I'm 10 and a half, I'm thinking about retiring. Maybe play a children's card game.
Fun fact: Mello and Near both have L's qualities. Near has L's intellect and cold calculation while Mello has L's love for sweets
Near:- theoretical
Mello:- practical
honestly mello has Ls passion when near doesnt have that its quite epic and swag
It's more than that. Mello has L's tenacity. Remember, L was just as gung-ho to make moves forcing his opponent's hand.
Mello : is theo-practical
Near : just observer
Dude mello and near together are better than L. That's supposed to be the idea.
Without all 3; Light gets away.
However; Light gets caught immediately without misa and his dad being the head of japanese detectives
Mello you boss genius; making connection after connection - every new one an extension of the first
If Mello was smart in the kidnapping he'd keep the helmet on and denied her request to cover herself while undressing. If I suspected she had anything that could kill me, I'd even giver the full course body cavity search. Behind the teeth, under the tongue. Absolute thoroughness. Then mello would have lived.
That makes sense, but he was sacrificing himself to help Near, so he expected to die. Thanks for watching!
@@KitsunesTrove If only his pride would allow him to live in a world where Near takes down Kira and just become friends, Near was even willing to be.
Yea I know. Only reason he died was because he decided to be decent and let takada cover herself up. But in the end near had respect for Mello and admitted that he wouldn't have won without his help. Mello will always be remembered by the fans and near himself
@@notjeff7833 Yeah, too bad Near seems to get a lot of hate.
I have a feeling Mello would get along really well with Anakin Skywalker
Also he is gender goals
touch grass

Did you see "The crush?" The voice actors for Matt and Mello voice the drama
@@actual_doge3221 I'm litterally listening to it rn XDDD
@@actual_doge3221 I have not actually
It's great that both of them are the two sides of L, the logic and the emotion, and both lost because of their emotions
L never let emotion cloud his judgement he just didn't have enough evidence plus the fact that everyone defended light
Why do you think that? He says himself he's become friends with light lol. Opening up to someone is showing emotions.
@@xirogs L obviously lied if you paid attention you'd know L always suspected light of being kira, the creator himself stated L never had any friends do the research yourself
@@Pvinterr no basically near is logic and mello is emotion and at times L did use his emotions he tends to second-guess everything he is presented with
@@bloobuoy7453 Also their negative traits are similar to L's but amplified)
Mello is ruthless and is willing to threaten, kidnap or even murder just to be closer to prove he's better than near)
While Near doesnt know anything social, and is very depending on others' help to do his strategic moves)
