I personally think that the answers Boone gives during these and interviews are good! We may not enjoy the answers he gives as they sound fake but he has to say the positive and right answers because he is sticking up for his players mistakes. I believe this because if he gives real answers (calling his players out for mistakes) none of his players will want to play for him and may play worse. I do believe that he talks with his players behind the scenes about their mistakes privately but publicly he has to say the right things for his players to respect him.
Gotta admit! I've gone from being a bit wary of Boone to being a big fan. He's a real baseball guy and I admire it. Very mature way of looking at the game. I'm not a great judge, but he seems to be on top of things. Just a rough roster that he has to deal with and a tough season without Judge in the lineup to help things along. So glad he's talking to us nerds!
NGL I enjoy the Boone episodes more when it's not so confrontational. Sometimes it gets that "dad yelled at mom at the dinner table" vibe. I know you said you might not get much out of him even if the Yankees were winning, but man I'd love to see what a 1st place Yankees Banterin' with Boone looks like.
I wish the league would at least advise umps on where to set up. My friends and I were playing shuffleboard the other day and were amazed how much an angle can affect your perception. It's night and day from certain spots
These Boone episodes are like going through the 5 stages of death. The fans are up to depression now, but the organization is stuck between denial and anger.
I'm not a Yankees fan (in fact the opposite is the case) but I respect Aaron Boone for how he confronted the ump who has what is provable the worst technique for calling balls and strikes accurately. I also like how he tried to walk the line with jomboy between owning how he acted and wanting to move on with his relationship with the ump.
Say what you want about the FO and team this season but these pods have been a joy to watch. Boone, Jomboy, and TJ have developed a great chemistry. Hope the team turns it around! Go Yankees
They WOULD have had the prospects to call up and have fun like 2016 IF THEY SOLD AT THE DEADLINE! Then 2017 was suddenly fantastic after those prospects got the chance to play and gel in late 2016.
Who on the team do you think had any real trade value? Torres and Bader? You're not getting major prospects for either one. Rizzo, DJ, Stanton...multi year high salaried players; not going anywhere. Higashioka...maybe a low level average rookie leaguer. Sevy...no value. Cortes....he was hurt. He don't even have a true closer so no one there has high trade value. So it's easy to say they should have gotten a bunch of prospects, but they simply don't have players than anybody else wants.
@@BB--13118 Torres and Bader, yes. Some others can be traded if we eat salary. IKF is an excellent utility player, he's just overpaid, as if he's a starter. We're paying whether he's on our team or not. Let's get some low level lotto ticked for him. I would have traded German right after the perfect game and said so at the time. Sevy has value for a bull pen, at least he would have if they moved him to the pen to show he can do it (or he would have shown he can't and he'd have no value). Maybe Holmes if they can get enough back for him. He's still got another year on his contract, but if they can get enough back that it's worth it, he's moveable.
That ump 100% deserves every piece of heat and hate coming his way after that shit show of a performance behind home plate. Like shit, that may have been one of the worst performances I've seen in awhile. Giving Angel and West a run for their money.
Would have liked some questions about Rizzo. I mean how can you possibly miss a diagnosis of a concussion when it has been plainly obvious to everyone watching that he hasn't been right since he hit his head 2 DAMN MONTHS AGO. He described symptoms of concussions as well. It is just completely inexcusable. It could seriously mess up the dude's life. If he had a second head injury while still suffering from the concussion, it could have been really bad. A concussion is a mild brain injury. That isn't to be taken lightly. I'd also like to know if maybe they have a sign for Stanton for "go home only if you make the turn well" so he can decide to hold up without having to put on the hard breaks and knows only to run home if he can ACTUALLY run..
24:41 I almost feel bad for Boonie after this one. When the best you've got is "we're catching the ball well", you know you're running on empty. That's what you tell your Little League team after they get run ruled.

The thing is that you can criticize Aaron Boone’s managing, but it’s always dicey because you never know all the variables that a manager has to deal with. But when an umpire-who’s been around forever-misses call after call, and there’s no question he’s missing them, it’s a different universe. I started looking for Roberts interviews after this. Do any managers in any sport or players do this kind of candid, casual interview often?
Really cool to interview the coach like this. It’s authentic and it makes the sport more interesting to watch. Thank you
Aaron Boone is a class act, a man that cares about his team. Baseball needs more people like him.
No he's not. He's a tightwad if any call doesn't go his way and acts like a spoiled child when angry

Aaron Boone, most complimentary manager of opposing pitchers since 2017.
Much easier to recruit pitchers you might want down the road if you talk them up instead of talking shit like some teams
When you think Angel Hernandez is clearly the worst ump in the league, you can always go watch Laz Diaz give him a run for his money
When im in a worst umpire competition and my opponents are angel hernandez, laz diaz, and cb bucknor

2. Laz Diaz
