Make sure you have good soil amended with compost and good spacing. Beets tend to be heavy feeders so make sure soil is good. Add some organic nutrients every 3 weeks or so and you should be good!!
Nice video. For my lettuce and some other stuff (not root crops, obviously), I like to plant a really thick row, then thin and transplant a lot of it into other parts of the garden. I'll transplant early, at about the 4-leaf stage. It delays development a bit, so that extends the harvest window. Some of my small lettuce transplants survived the December freeze better than almost anything else in the garden, other than onion.
I wish you could come over and help me design a beautiful food forest and landscape with food! Im living in my parents property with about 12 acres, part of which used to be small farm back in the day. My dad is getting older and slowing down and doesn't want to have the hassle and spend money on anything. But, there are big stacks of old wood all iver the property to use but its not treated, so he says it will rot for raised beds. Is there anything that i can paint into the wood to nake it last? I have a lot if plans in my head for the property, but im not able to do it by myself (57 yrs and disabled) I've seen many videos if people who have allowed full-time rv'ers to park in their property with full hook-ups, in exchange for a certain amount of labor hours working on the property. Id live to do that but id need another MAN to convince him of the benefits . If your ever in the Pearl River area, send me a message. Id live to get your ideas for what can be done here. Thanks!
I know you will find some way to get your green thumb going. All it takes to start is a couple of containers, some potting soil, and seeds, and you can grow at least some of your own food that everyone at the house will enjoy.
Hey there---southeast Texan here. I am basically zone 8b/9a. I am curious about the seeds and all the rain we are getting....perhaps it's going around you. It seems like with the 30-50 degree range of temps and all the rain the seeds would rot. Can you tell I am not a very experienced gardener? lol Just hate to waste my seeds and my time if this is a bad weather time to sow. Could you comment on the temps/rain issues possibly related to sowing right now? Appreciate the details for each type of seed you planted. Very informative video. One other question---is there any companion planting issue with what you just planted? Good grief, how do you learn all this!!! Thanks a million for some good videos. Jesus bless.
Its possible the seeds can get oversaturated and rot but generally it isn't a big issue. I don't typically worry myself too much on companion planting to be honest. That's something I need to really look at.
Thanks for the helpful videos!
My pleasure and glad you like them!!!!

9b here. But only one broccoli survived😢
My broccoli and most everything else did okay except for the ones that wasn't covered with the AgFrabit, or a container with a sheet over them.
What zone are you in?
Zone 9A, near Baton Rouge, LA
