Dr Siddayya Puranik was a renowned Kannada writer popularly known by his pen name ‘Kavyananda’. He was an able administrator, a great poet and a thoughtful orator. He has written Plays, Novels, children’s literature, Biographies, Story collections, Short plays, Poetry collections etc, thus making his body of literature very diverse. His contribution to Kannada Literature is immense.
‘Jalapaata’, ‘Modalu Maanavanaagu’, ‘Maanasa Sarovara’, ‘Karuna Shravana’, ‘Kallolla Maale’, and ‘Charaga’, were some of his poetry collections. With the pen name of "Swatantra Dhira Siddeshwara”, he penned his Vachana literature such as Vachana Rama, Vachanodhana , Vachanananda earned him the title of "Vachano Dhyanada Anubhavi". His writing reflects deep study and a knack for keen observation of life. And most importantly the immense faith he placed in humanity stands out.
Maguvina More is a famous poem by Sri Siddyya Puranik. This poem describes a situation that we all face in our lives at one point or the other. The poem is the imploration that springs out from within, when we find our lives stuck in precarious situation that it neither seems to move up nor fall down. This is a prayer to God when the meaning seems to be lost in the hustle and bustle of life.
