Disney slow dark rides are cherished moments from my trips there. These nice clips just give us a reminder of those memories from a long time ago. Disney may have changed, and gone in a different direction, but I will always love these videos of ridwthroughs.
I know exactly what you mean. I am now 74 and a widow and my husband and I would try to get up to Disney world every couple years or so lived in Miami but even still, that was about a 4 to 4 1/2 our trip. I also love the way that they show the people mover in this video how's the flight. Ironically this is the ride where I left a bag in the seat and it had two T-shirts and something else and as soon as I realized I had forgot it we went back and of course nobody had turned it in and a little later we went to City Hall down on main Street and they said doubtful but they took down our number and everything and said they'd let us know. But doubtful. In the meantime my husband has been deceased for 21 years and it's been a long long time since I was at Disney so I really do enjoy watching these videos like you, the oldies but the goodies
For just a second my brain tricked me into thinking I smelled the smoke machine as you entered the jet engine. I almost, almost miss this as much as horizons for some reason. Thank you for this work of art and lol please sit down while on the ride people!
Get used to have a ride in Epcot and I don't remember cuz it's been over 20 years since I've been up there unfortunately but they do have that smoke machine and you actually are smelling the smoke.
This definitely feels like it is part of world of motion. But I was happy that this was at MK so I could ride it while my extended family wanted to go on carousel of progress
Awww..the good ole days..where people would chat..or have quiet time while in line...imagine that ...in a few more years after this video was made in 91...cell phone. 😮
Thank you for posting this! I never got to go on this attraction (I always wanted to), so it's great to be able to see it. Looks like it was a pretty neat ride.
I’m so happy this footage exists. I remember riding DDF as a kid in 94/95. My memories of it are minimal bc I was so young. I remember going on BL’s SpaceRanger Spin when it first replaced DDF and recognizing the tunnel lights section- I was glad that part remained the same. I also retrospectively appreciate the Delta/Disney partnership, I’m pretty sure we flew Delta down to Orlando from NY…they gave my brother and I paper crowns of Goofy and Donald.
1991, you say?? Although I don't remember this ride very well, I think even my 17-18 year old self would appreciate this more than some of WDW's more recent additions. I miss this classic Disney approach to rides and story telling.
I visited Dreamflight when I was 5 in 1993, on my first ever trip to America. By the time I came back in 2000, when I was 12, it had been replaced with Buzz Lightyear's ride. However, I didn't mind, because I loved Zurg.
This makes my heart so happy 😢❤ I remember this. I'm from Clearwater FL and my mom would take us all the time to Disney. This was one of me and my mom's favorite rides! Such sweet memories 😢❤ I hate they got rid of it. Terrible mistake!
Well it was about 1992 that my late husband and I were on this ride and really really like the part where it seemed like you were going about 200 miles an hour. The bad news is, we had bought two T-shirts and one other article and I ended up leaving that bag on that ride. Now we went back to see if they had turned it in and of course, not and we even went to the City Hall thing on main Street and they said they'd let us know if it got turned in but seriously who's going to turn in to Disney world t-shirts and some kind of pad of paper or something with Mickey on the front. If nothing else, could have made a couple of good Christmas presents.
I always regarded "Dreamflight" as a good, competent replacement for "If You Had Wings" which I knew wasn't going to last given the troubles of Eastern Airlines. I think the two things though that made "Dreamflight" less of an artistic success than its predecessor was (1) the way the waiting area was divided up so instead of that great open-aired space you waited in to board IYHW, everything was now more cramped and confining and (2) Dreamflight failed to take advantage of the Peoplemover ride-through above by being designed in a way where you could great views from above. Instead we lost two of the three window views (the first and third) and the second one didn't show what was below from the right perspective angle.
I feel like I can still smell it when you go through the same scene in Buzz. I think it's just the scent of the fog machine but I can smell it now just thinking about it.
I believe it's just the smell of unscented propylene glycol. I could be wrong, but my working memory of it it is a bit on the sweeter side, but still very bland.
I remember this video from 2 years ago. Did you have to reupload because someone reported it?....Nice place to get stuck to hear the song over and over ❤❤❤❤
This was my favorite ride at WDW and was so mad they removed it to install Buzz Light year. they have over 41 sq miles they could build Buzz light year in
Well, they had to promote the 1st "Toy Story" movie one last time in the year 1998. And Delta stopped funding them earlier that same year. So, they had to replace this ride with "Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin."
It wasn't as popular as Buzz Lightyear, but there was usually a short wait. Granted that was also back when most everything at Disney was only a short wait.
In all fairness it never stopped having a bad day even now that its Space Ranger Spin. Can't tell you how many times we had to walk that track because it kept throwing errors.
@@ThemePark_Nerdo My short stint there we only evaced once but it stopped a lot and anytime a floor sensor went off someone had to walk the track. Every time I've been back there it seems to stop at least once each ride through.
@@bradzune Can you elaborate a bit about what it was like to work there? What was walking the track? How much behind the scenes did you get to see? Did the song drive you crazy or did you just stop hearing it after a while? I'm curious
@@cunegonde4 We were essentially grunts, young kids who can work the grave yard shift. Work was work but the perks are really why most people are there. When I say walking the track I literally mean walking on the track. Below the car is carpeted floor with pressure sensors, ones goes off the entire ride shuts down, so you have to walk the ride to find out who dropped their turkey leg and to make sure someone isn't making an unscheduled behind the scenes tour or stealing lost purses. As for behind the scenes, yes, as much or as little as you wanted to really, all we had to do was ask. The song no, you tone it out after a while. The crowds usually drown out most of the noise its when its empty that its maddening. Just so you know the second we closed, that music gets turned off real quick lol.
Something isn't it? This lasted for just shy of 6 years. Then after Delta left, it only lasted 3 more. Yet Buzz Lightyear has lasted 25 YEARS! Somethings not right here...
Also I believe if you look at the bottom of the track in the last scene there is a black cloud shaped trim that can be seen in buzz. You can’t really see it in videos tho. And the clouds on the wall in the last scene were repainted and placed in the last scene of buzz I believe
not bad. but too bad they had to replace "Eastern's If you had wings" with this. but its understandable. due to Eastern not able to fund it anymore. "If you had wings" was a better earworm song.
Why did the years have to fly by so fast I see videos like this and wish I could enjoy it all over again
It is like yesterday riding this ride. This is a Disney classic for sure

I like that it stalled. Really gives you the full experience of the ride.

This always felt like an EPCOT attraction that got dropped into the middle of The Magic Kingdom. It was fantastic though!

100%
Now I see why
Why do I love this particular vid so much, it's the closest I can get to the memory
Great to see an attraction with no IP tie in. An original and now a classic.
Except for Delta Airlines :)
I mean…..
It’s Disney World…..
What do you expect?😂
Awww..the good ole days..where people would chat..or have quiet time while in line...imagine that ...in a few more years after this video was made in 91...cell phone. 😮
Chatting with people in real life is weird now. When you try to talk to someone you get ignored and it makes for an awkward situation.
This is amazing!!! Cannot believe how clear the picture is and seeing the ride stopped with the CM walking by….priceless!!!! Thank you for uploading!
Man the music score is catchy
Thank you for posting this! I never got to go on this attraction (I always wanted to), so it's great to be able to see it. Looks like it was a pretty neat ride.
I had the music at the beginning as my ringtone back in the day.
That's what I'm trying to do now!!
I actually loved this ride. Never really a line and I could get back on it for a second go.
I'm remember that ride when my family and I rode there when I was 8 years old. How I missed that ride. Thanks for bringing my childhood memories!
This was the first attraction I went on my first trip. I loved it.

I loved this ride so much
They even had the same “this ride has stopped temporarily” voice

This ride was a keeper and iconic back then. You definitely would have enjoyed it
Thank you, this was my second favorite attraction!!
Weighs heavy on the heart to know a large portion of the people in the video are no longer here.
Very True and it seems like yesterday/ Bless you Mom Dad thank for these memory
i can never get that song out of my head,
I tried to help them make these dreams come true

And you DON'T get chopped up like in one of the Lower Mines death traps in Mortal Kombat.

The ride I wish I had gone on.
5:12 Tokyo Japan and Paris France, little did they know there’d be Disney parks there one day
The authentic Magic Kingdom experience: a ride though where the Omnimover stops moving for some reason.
Thank you, from the bottom of my 90s Disney nerd heartm
Pretty cool to see a actual front end of the plane in begging
I can't believe the line just in the first room! we used to just walk right on

I heard that this attraction totally bombed in overall popularity. Is that true?
