    This is the review i'm serching for. A wedding photographer using this lens. I'm very happy with my voigt lenses converted to my Nikon Z6 (50mm 1.2, 35mm 1.4, 28mm f2 v1) but I really want to change my 35mm 1.4 for the softness that it have. For personal photos is OK but for weddings I need something sharper. Thanks so much for the review!!

    Great review Andrew. I do love my 35 Summilux FLE (V1), but I can see the value in having a smaller, "cheaper" and closer focussing option. I have the Voigtlander 28mm Ultron II and I actually prefer it vs the Leica 28mm Summicron. That close focussing distance is a real plus and what Voigtlander has been able to offer on the market at that price is very unique. BTW, we still need to record an episode of my podcast and go out and shoot in MTL together ;-) Cheers!

    • @GenericPhotographer

    Great to see you back for a new video! I've bought a lot following your advice and I like your opinions. I bought the M10, then the summilux 50 asph, then the VM1.0, then went back to the asph but black chrome this time. You're good to my soul but not good for my wallet😂

    Great review, thanks. I have the aluminum version (Type I) and love it. It's so light it feels like no lens is mounted at all. You might like using the LH-12 hood with it. It works on the 35 1.5 without vignetting and has a similar shape to the one you showed but is not so large.

    Hi Andrew, not sure, if you will see and read this, but I'm currently thinking about selling my 35mm f2 Summicron ASPH (11673) to free some cash and get either the 35mm Ultron, this Nokton or the Thypoch 35mm 1.4.
    Would you replace the Summicron in my place and if yes, which of the three third party offers would you personally pick?

    • @GenericPhotographer
      @GenericPhotographer  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey good question! I’m also contemplating selling my Summicron asph. The nokton 1.5 would be my pick! The Thypoch is the closest thing to a FLE but the nokton asph is really fun to use and the rendering is marvelous. There are so many options out there. The Ultron is great but honestly I didn’t enjoy it as much as I’d liked to and the helicoid is just really not that enjoyable to use when compared to the nokton alternatives. I’ve missed the motion 1.5 since I reviewed it and I wouldn’t mind having one to keep, even if it means replacing the Summicron.

    • @IntrovertAmateur
      @IntrovertAmateur 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ Thank you so much for your reply! I think I will follow your recommendation and check the market for used Nokton 35mm 1.5 now :)
      I was thinking about Thypoch might release some Summicron equivalent line in the future, but that might take a while and I guess you should be one of the first to know :)
      Thanks a mill again and I’m patiently waiting for your M10R video 😁

    I have it, pre-ordered it because of the size. I have the V2 and have no problem with the weight. Feels very durable, can't tell about the lighter version. I have also the distagon and will keep both but 90% the Nokton is on my M. I was shattered by the reviews and thought i might have even a very goog copy but since everyone is searching for 100% performance all the way the people are spoiled the wrong way. Yes i would like to have the FLE II but i am so happy with the Nokton and will take the Leica money for a nicer holiday trip to take fotos with my Voigtländer.

    I shoot with a film Leica MP and use Voigtlander (35/1.4) as well as Leica (Summicron 35/2.0) lenses. I've never noticed any difference in quality, but a significant difference in price. But as they say: It's not a fiddle, it's a fiddler. :-D Otherwise great review👍

    Thank you for this! Your reviews are my favorite on TH-cam. I’ve been using the CV 35mm Ultron II; I love the form factor of the Ultron but not the feel of the focus helicoid and the somewhat nervous bokeh. I’ve been torn between this new 35/1.5 and just biting the bullet and buying a 35 Summicron. 1.5 isn’t too important to me; what I really want is a natural, pleasing rendering with smooth transitions. It seems like Voigtlander may have hit the mark. Do you have any experience with the Leica 35/2 ASPH? How does this compare?

    • @GenericPhotographer
      @GenericPhotographer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oddly enough I’m on a similar boat. The cron asph is tempting but the rendering of this 1.5 is really phenomenal. I’d suggest trying them at your local camera store. It’s hard to justify the cron at 3 times the price. The cron is much more uniform and sharper, it is also the same size as this 1.5, tough call!

      I’ve had the 35 summicron and although it is super sharp the bokeh can sometimes seem quite busy and I really didn’t like the flare it would sometimes produce. The rendering from this lens seems really nice to me.

    I’ve spent about 10 hours reading about this lens. I read all of the reviews I could find, and I think that this is the best.
    I have the Zeiss ZM 35mm f/2 and 35mm f/2.8 currently, and think I am just going to stick with what I have now. After buying many lenses each year for a long time, I am proud to say I haven’t bought any new gear since early 2020 and have even sold off a few cameras and lenses.

    Useful information! I value your thoughts on this f/1.5 Nokton, as I consider adding a smaller yet “fast” 35mm lens, for the times I would rather be a bit more discreet, probably covering that shiny “nose” with a step-up ring, rather than using a hood. I’ll not be trading-away a Zeiss Distagon 35mm f/1.4 ZM, however, as there are many times I value every bit of its sharpness and contrast.

    I recently picked up a Nikon W.Nikkor.C 35 mm f/3.5 LTM lens (with a LTM to M mount adapter). It’s tiny (about that of the Leica M 28 mm f/5.6) and surprisingly sharp (but not as sharp as the Leica Summilux-M 35 FLE I). Although the lens is free of fungus and haze, the contrast at f/3.5 to f/5.6 is significantly less that that of the FLE. Perhaps the coatings are a bit worn.

    • @GenericPhotographer
      @GenericPhotographer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The 1.5 is more pleasing to my eye, I do appreciate the overall feel to the images, including the colors and correctness wide open. -Speaking from experience with the 40 Nokton 1.4 which is very similar- I adore the 1.4, though it can be a bit too busy wide open. I like it a lot on film, but I find it too 2 dimensional on digital at times. Stopped down it’s great but that’s not what we’re buying these for.

    • @GenericPhotographer
      @GenericPhotographer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment Mark! They’re both excellent lenses, the 1.5 is definitely more versatile at the expense of being slightly larger. They both are capable of producing good 3D images, I’d give a nod to the Nokton based on the depth of field alone. At f2 it’s very sharp and creates lovely subject separation. The heliar has a tighter crop for more compression and isolation. The 35 will be sharper at 2.8, being stopped down two stops helps. From f4 onwards I’d go with the heliar for its size and feel. I find their rendering quite similar. Tough call.

    I had the Voigtlander 35/1.4 Nokton for awhile but I just got tired of it. The distortion was awful, the coma was ugly, the rendering at or near wide open got old after eventually; and I didnt love the ergonomics either, just slightly too small.
    This new 35/1.5 ASPH isn’t perfect but seems like a hell of a great choice for a fast 35mm lens for M mount, I can’t wait to pick one up. This one isn’t as nice as the LEICA 35 FLE but still does a good job.
