    Greets from Venezuela. A friend of mine is from Guyana, he once invited me to his house and his mother prepared this dish with chicken curry. I fell in love with this dish, I was embarrassed to ask her how she prepared Roti, but thanks to you now I know how to do it.

    i looked for that mill in your store, on line, had no access, believe me i would buy one if i could find one just like that, i purchased one similar to yours on Amazon ,it works ok,,but for some reason sometimes the pea does not grind all the way but from looking at the one you are using it seems better,,and yes i have 2 processors ..so i end up using them all when grinding the split pea,,,because i don't want any hard pieces when i am rolling out the dough,,it is a real art making Dahl puri.it is not as easy as it seems,,only because those showing how to make it have been doing it for years ,, i tried so many times, too many to count and now i am almost 100% there ,,,i have looked and tried many different recipies,,,this one looks simpler...just salt in the peas..i will definitely give it a go, the best DahlPuri roti i have had is from a Guyanese person who lives in Canada.

    • @RealNiceGuyana

      Sorry to hear , yes there is a similar one on Amazon ( meant for corn 🌽 grinding ) many people use that and say it's ok . Many says that the food processor works better as well.
      We also have use one from Amazon and it works fine, maybe yours needs some adjustment.
      Yes this recipe is simple and if you read the comments many have tried it without failure and loves it

    A food processor is quick and easy but the split peas needs to be just boiled. Not as soft as in the video. The best way to know when it's done is to check the water while its boiling. The peas is done when the water just begins to get cloudy. At that point it should only break with your nail pressed into it. Do a trial run and see how it goes.

      Romona, it has to be cool and dry, it's better to leave it as is, the heat from the hot water from boiling will dry it faster . Adding cold water will take longer to dry and make things worse.🙂🙂

    Great video! Thanks for sharing. How many Dhal Puris should one aim for from 4 cups of flour?

    • @RealNiceGuyana
      @RealNiceGuyana  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, for the small size we made it is 4 dhalpuris per cup of flour. So 4 cups should give you 16 dhalpuris.

    What can I use instead of wiri pepper? Can I use regular thyme instead of broad leaf? Moved to a small town with very little diversity.

      +samantha brabant Samantha those 2 ingredients can be left out completely. You can use any pepper you like, it does not affect the outcome.
