The original ideology on the basis of which Pakistan was founded seems to be long lost. In the tug of war between "Maaqulaat" (Aqli Ulum, Rationality, logic) and "Manqulaaat (Naqli Ulum)" the latter one has surely won. We as a nation are mostly driven by jingoism, irrationality and belief in things without logic. In this regard, our National poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal has written a lot. He was the flag bearer of scientific thinking which leads to a pragmatic, agile and dynamic life. The recent chaos that was created on Chaand Raat pertaining to sighting of the moon reminded alluded to the same fact which I have mentioned above. The so called intellectuals and Ulema of our country have made the public fall in the quagmire of non-sensical issues which hold very little significance in the overall context of things.
In this regard, I reminisced a breathtaking poem of the great poet Allama Iqbal titled "Iblees Ki Majlis-e-Shura". It is the most remarkable satire on the sorry state of affairs which were pervalent even 100 years ago.
