  • In this video we touch base on the differences between the Kahles 3-18 and Leupold Mark5 3-18. We offer and use both of these rifle scopes, but they each offer something different and in our minds fill two specific needs that are quite different from each other. We want to give you some of the reasons why or in what situation you might want to choose one over the other.

    That’s a sick looking setup. I’ve own the K525 for over 3 yrs and have 0 complaints.

    I am also interested in the rifle, what is the barrel length and what is it chambered in?

      Hi Grant. She is in 22 Creedmoor and 16.5" barrel. Really fun to shoot and a hammer at distance. You wouldn't think a 22 caliber could hit that hard at distance and be that fun to shoot.

      I have not seen or shot them yet. We are working on getting a tracking test system in place to start putting the optics through there paces. I will follow up when we get set up in a couple months.

    I'll take the Leica.

    3:05 you said mk5hd has option of non-illuminated and saves weight but illuminated TMR and illuminated PR1 reticles have same weight as non illuminated.

    • @wolfprecisioninc
      @wolfprecisioninc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to talk with the guys, might be a typo. Typically the illumination adds some weight for the battery and electronics needed to be added.

    I can’t decide between the nightforce nx8 2.5-20x50 or the mark 5 3.6-18
    The NX8 has much better FOV and also avail in SFP the mark 5 is not.
    Mark 5 is couple oz lighter but still Nx8 is only 28oz. I’m about to just flip a coin I’ve been going back and forth so much on which one I like.

    • @wolfprecisioninc

      I prefer the Leupold for several reasons. Made in USA and warrantied for life. I think both are fine scopes though.

    • @tuckerschwab5331

      I like everything about the nightforce nx8, but it has short eye relief and i dont want to risk getting scoped

    • @TimKollat
      @TimKollat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tuckerschwab5331 I was comparing them both side by side yesterday and you’re right the nx8 had noticeably shorter eye relief than the mk5 but it didn’t seem so short I’d worry about getting smashed by it in the eye, especially on the 308 I’d be putting it on.
      I bought the mk5 a couple weeks ago, but still might get the nx8 to compare fully then sell one off, or maybe just keep both.

    • @alexanderb5644
      @alexanderb5644 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TimKollat did you end up getting the nx8 yet for comparison? I'm deciding between the two as well at the moment

    • @TimKollat
      @TimKollat ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alexanderb5644 Yes I did get the NX8.
      I still have both, and I prefer the NX8 but I would be perfectly happy with either or.
      Id say pick your reticle you like the best and go with that.
      If youre like me and prefer SFP reticles then the NX8 is the only option over the 2
      The Mark5 come in FFP only. The NX8 both FFP and SFP. Also all the NX8 come standard with illumination.
      I will say that the eye relief on the Mark5 3.6-18x44 is much better then the NX8 2.5-20x50. I dont know how it compares in other models. Its not that the NX8 eye relief is bad, its just noticeably longer in the Mark5.
      I will say, to my eye, that the NX8 was ever so slightly better in low light but it made no real difference.
      Even though I like the turrets on the Mark5 better and I like its compactness and just overall look better, I still lean to the NX8 as the one I prefer overall and really couldnt give an exact reason why

      I appreciate you posting and thank you for watching. They are manufactured and made here in the USA. The only part they do not make is the glass and it has always been that way from what I understand. They are a 3rd generation family owned USA business too. Not too many of those around anymore - sadly.
