FUN FACT: Marianna is exactly half way between New Orleans and Orlando (4 1/2 hours each way), just in case you know any retirees who want to split time between the two cities. (It's also 4 hours from Atlanta.)
Dude i been by it before as my grandma used to live there, ive seen videos is on it and my mom told me it was a school for boys before but i never knew it was dozier
I went to the juvenile prison that was inside the dozier boys camp.... was called Jackson Juvenile Offenders Correction Center (JJOCC) spent 15 months of my life in that place.....from 17 to 19 yrs old. I'll never forget that hell hole
This is my hometown where I grew up and lived until 2008. I live in PA now. I'm so thankful for the beautiful town that I grew up in for many reasons!! I go back often because all my family and many friends are still there.
Great voiceover, Katie! Jose, you’ve got the best co-pilot/wife/work partner!! Keep up the great work.😊. One suggestion, would be to put a star on a map of Florida,or whichever state you are in, to indicate where the town you are visiting is located as the video plays. Love learning about the history as well as attractions of all the towns you are visiting!! 👍🏻
also, downtown marianna has some restaurants and such, but just like 5-10 minutes up the road towards the interstate theres a lot more fast food places
Than you. I lived in Marianna from 1954 -1960. It has less people now than back when Graham Aviation was here. Hello Roger Bell, Nell Harrison and 1st Baptist Church.
i live about 3-5 minutes from here in Greenwood Florida! take it from me, its rough around the edges (marianna)... but compared to where i moved from (about 30 minutes away) its SOOOO much better! way more opportunities
I live about 5 miles north of town and have to say this place is definitely a mixed bag. Most everyone I have had dealings with have been very nice and I joke that this is more southern Alabama than it is Florida. I moved here because it is the right place to be stationed out of for my job (I travel a lot) and has basic amenities like groceries and banks. There is not much 'fun' to do here, but it is convenient to Dothan, Tallahassee and Panama City Beach, so there is that. I probably wouldn't live here if I had to find a job with a local company, the economy is definitely sub par.
OOU! when you guys go back to marianna, you SERIOUSLY need to check out the russ house!!😈 its right in downtown, and its one of THE most haunted places in the entire state!!!
Dollar General Store is hardly a plus for a community. Looks like most stores are empty. Sad to see such damage, but town needs an infusion of smart shops and restaurants (not fast food junk).
I have been there many times. If you like great outdoor activity, ghost activity, or just hanging out, you are on a great city. Most people here are related...
I live here and love it, I have lived all over the east coast of florida and this is the most comfortable place to raise my daughter good schools and people hold the door for you any where it's great if you like the country
I moved here from Destin. Bought a brand new home for 150k... fabulous area as it's only 1 hr from Panama City Beach and Tallahassee. Definitely buy here...a WIN WIN as this place is off of active I 10
Could you please give a distance reference from main cities like, how far is it from Miami? HOW FAR IS IT FROM FortLauderdale? HOW FAR FROM Lehigh or Napels? THANKS👍🏽
I swear... people do not know ANYTHING about Florida or how big this state is. To the OP, Miami is a galaxy away from Marianna and the two are completely different countries.
Lived here all my life.. Awesome town and you should check out Bellamy bridge and... If u were here in 2021..hurricane Michael DEVISTATED our town.. That's why so much is closed.. We looked like a war zone after the storm
You didn't drive all the way through town. You missed the highlights of our beautiful community. You turned right on Lafayette and passed a breakfast shop on your left (the gazebo). When you turned around at winn dixie, you missed the waffle iron, Hardee's, burger King, and more restaurants. You missed driving over the chipola River, (which you mentioned). You missed driving over the Mill pond which is where the Jackson Blue springs are. You missed alot in such a short drive.
That's cause it's been a Winn-Dixie town for a long time. Just like DeFuniak. As fast as DeFuniak's growing though, Publix will be there soon. They already set up shop in Freeport.
Miranna has sure grown up some back n the early 80's we had good ole country shopping stores that would even help ppl with credit slips to buy groceries and pay on pay day.. I raised my first baby their working and running the good ole 76 truck stop
There are no jobs in this town unless you want to work for the prison, the mental hospital, or the hospital. But if you work in that field and you like small town vibes give it a look.
We have a breakfast place called The waffle iron, you made a u turn at Winn Dixie before the restaurant. Also have two Waffle House, a Walmart, sonny’s bbq. I’m Cuban and live here and would like to assist you with your next video about Marianna.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS LOL Y'all drove right by Gazebo Coffee Shoppe & Deli which has some amazing breakfast food! Other than that there's Waffle House by the interstate. And the Truck Stop.
Yeah just don’t have any run ins with the law. You’ll get the true marianna experience then! Wester was a prime example. Once they meet you they won’t leave you alone.. they got nothing better to do.🥱🤙🏽
FUN FACT: Marianna is exactly half way between New Orleans and Orlando (4 1/2 hours each way), just in case you know any retirees who want to split time between the two cities. (It's also 4 hours from Atlanta.)
And almost exactly 1.25 hours from tallahassee, panama city and destin.
This town is also infamous for the former Dozier School for Boys that was shut down in 2011.
Dude i been by it before as my grandma used to live there, ive seen videos is on it and my mom told me it was a school for boys before but i never knew it was dozier

This is halarious and i dont think she was trying
It’s sad what hurricane micheal has done to this city. From 7,000 people to 2,000
It was bad before that
Since then seems like the city is growing more and more!❤
Marianne is about an hour and a half from Pensacola quiet Little country Town thanks for sharing Katie
correct! FLORIBAMA

not even a diner.. yeah DG is hood LOL
I been thru Marianna FL before. It definitely has a Wetumpka Alabama type of influence. Panhandle FL is different
Good research Katie 👍
Jose, when did your voice get so high-pitch. Katie do your thing..

Jose, what are your thoughts on this place? Would you move here or is this a bad place? I’ve been there before. I live an hour away
saw nothing that attracted me. i like dothan tho. will explore more of the panhandle soon.
Hey man do a video on your car! I’d like to see it!
We did a video on our cars! Its got both gmcs on the cover photo
Do DeFuniak Springs! 45 minutes west of Marianna with way more history and interesting things!
Make sure to tour the Historic District. Downtown and Circle Drive. Victorian style homes around the second roundest non man made lake in the world.
