    I just found these on ebay and came looking to see if anyone had tried it. I just bought a 2011 CRV off my parents as a second car. Its not something I want to spend a lot of money on so things like this are great. And for me it doesn't matter if I have to change them every 18 months or whatever. I still think $12 and 2 hours every 18 months is worth it.

    • @themechanic2.060
      @themechanic2.060  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly. It sure is worth it. That’s why I’m doubting actually refinishing and painting the trim. I figure I would just keep replacing these pieces off of eBay. They look great! Thanks for your comment and input! I do a lot of CRV content on my channel, thanks for sticking around 👊🏼

    I staged sanded mine out going from 600 to 2000 and finished with 3m plastic polish as I’m not a stick on guy.

    • @themechanic2.060
      @themechanic2.060  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cool, but they’re metal. Plastic polish? You used plastic polish after sanding them to a matte black state? Well ok then.

    • @warrenw.1846
      @warrenw.1846 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The pillars are metal but have a OEM rvinyl coating and clear that lifts from UV rays. I never sanded down to the metal substrate and finished with 3m plastic compound that responds well to plastics, rubber, vinyl, clears and paints because of its very fine 3000+ grit.

    Another great fix Nick, did you think about applying a little heat during installation , great upgrade for not a lot of money , did you add the ceramic coating , would probably prevent scuff marks

    • @themechanic2.060
      @themechanic2.060  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks you very much! No.. I never considered heat. The trim pieces are very playable and the adhesive so far is pretty good. It didn’t need to be softened up with heat, probably would’ve melted it lol! I didn’t ceramic coat it yet…. Soon.

    I have a 2009 CRV. To me, the fading petina is just fine. What matters is how she drives and the reliability.

    I replaced the door trim window felt things with Amazon product on two Hondas 08-12. They work fine. I forgot to remove film on one trim piece. I think they were $40 a package.

    • @themechanic2.060
      @themechanic2.060  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s definitely not a long term solution. As I said in the video I’m eventually going to refinish all 6 trim pieces base coat/clear coat and replace the belt moldings too. I’ll definitely be giving updates on the longevity of these stick on trim pieces. Thanks for your feedback! Hope you’re subscribed!

    Hey, i have a CRV 2009 and am thinking on placing sounddeadening mats inside the door panels. Do you have any experiance about it ? will it work?

    • @themechanic2.060
      @themechanic2.060  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sound deadening mats are nice. I’ve used them for keeping things quiet when installing aftermarket audio. I’ve used it to replace the water damaged spray foam the factory uses in the spare tire well. ( I’ve done a video on that too ) I tend to use the Killmat brand. They work great for silencing road noise. Are you having a problem with noise? Thanks for your comment!

      @@themechanic2.060 Not really, but i was driving a sedan bmw before and the Honda has a larger cabin which has more resonation in my experience . The door are not isolated that good, i can hear it while closing it. Compared to the bmw, the doors close very clunky.

    Any of you guys has problems with the ac ? Mine airconditioner compressor is going on and off very often, like 5 or 6 times per minute for a few seconds. it was empty before and is now filled but even then the same thing happens.

    • @themechanic2.060
      @themechanic2.060  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very common problem with CRV AC is faulty AC clutch relay. Also the thermal protector in the compressor goes bad. More reliable and economical to change the compressor when the protector goes bad rather than replace it. Especially if your car is older with higher mileage. Lastly the magnetic clutch itself fails as well… again replacing the compressor is the way to go if that happens rather than replacing the clutch. Hope this helps! Hope you’re subscribed 🙏!

    • @themechanic2.060
      @themechanic2.060  ปีที่แล้ว

      The compressor cycling is normal as long as it’s blowing cold. 5 to 6 times per minute is a bit much though.
      Good luck my friend.

    • @AR-nb1iv
      @AR-nb1iv ปีที่แล้ว

      @@themechanic2.060 That is also what i think. so if i drive for an hour with the ac on, the compressor will start and stop 300 times !! to work and back home 400 times a day and 1600 times a week !! I don;t think this is normaI and not very good for the system overall. I will have someone else with knowleadge take a look at it.

    • @themechanic2.060
      @themechanic2.060  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. That is not normal. There is something definitely wrong if it’s doing that. Probably one of the above common problems I mentioned. Definitely have it checked out by a professional auto mechanic.
